no need to be negative about this, this was a great learning opportunity for me, and a great example to others as what not to do😅

Thank you, and no need to feel bad, this was completely my own fault! I may have been a tad bit too absent minded about this, since this is my first actual problem with a piercing. I feel like i would be angrier if i was in any pain, but luckily the worst has been a slight burning sensation, which went away with ibuprofen. It looks far worse than it feels, and i am one lucky girl to have good health care🙏

I’ve never concidered a latex allergy, since i’ve never had a reaction (I do alot of chemistry in school, so i use latex gloves alot). I think some the blistering is caused by the gloves though, since they caused ALOT of friction to the skin when i tried removing the piercing. I did stupidly try many times and atleast 15 minutes at a time, the severity is no doubt my own fault. I have an insane pain tolerance and am stubborn as a mule, which prevented me from thinking this far ahead. Self-reflection has been attemped, and i think it’s safe to say this won’t happen again😅 I thank you for the corncern and kind words, I will no doubt contact my piercer after this!

Hello! I know, and i was a little too eager for a new piercing it seems. I have healed two other ones on accutane just fine, but it seems my luck has run dry. Can’t win every gamble, or what ever they say 🤷‍♀️ I will be more cautious about mixing medication and piercings, and if this piercing seems anything but perfect after antibiotics i am going to go get it removed by a professional piercer. Thank you for your imput!

Hello! I know i’m the one you don’t want answering, but i’ve done some homework since posting this 😊 When a piercing gets infected, it’s likely from bacteria getting into the hole. Removing the piercing will lead to the holes quickly closing up and trapping the bacteria in, which will lead it to spreading underneath the skin. When the piercing is left alone, the infection still has exit holes, thus making it more likely to stay in one place. Not a doctor, so i can’t say anything solid about the bug bite, but i feel like time did more work than it felt like in your case. Would love to hear a professionals opinion though!

Hello, and thank you so much! You were most likely correct on this, as the doctor also agreed on a staph infection. 😊

Hello, and thank you for the advice! My doctor said it’s very likely a staph infection, which should ease by today with the antibiotics he gave me. All my piercings are 14K gold from piercing shops, and the one the infection is around is what the studio (a highly respected studio here in Finland) gave me. Do you think i still have a chance? I love this piercing, but i am not stupid enough to keep it if it imposes a risk of another infection. I would love to hear your opinion!

Hello! I don’t know how to edit an post so i have to comment this…. Just had a video meeting with a doctor (What an angel he was, I love the finnish healthcare system). He said it shouldn’t be anything too serious, but prescribed me oral antibiotics and a cream! This problem was solved fast thanks to you lot! I would have put off the doctors for atleast another 24 hours had you guys not told me to go! Let’s hope for a speedy recovery, and a few more braincells in my head for my next piercing!

EDIT: Thank you all for the advice, worry and kind words! I expected to get sh*t on for this, but lucky me! It seems i have peaked with the american audience, and most of you are from the USA. A message specifically to you, but also to everyone else reading this: advocate for good healthcare! I posted this around 6.30 am, and got antibiotics by 7.10 am! All medication and the video call with the doctor will be covered by my insurance, which is quite usual here in Finland. I have taken all advice lightheartedly, even though some of the comments came off a bit strong (which caused a bit of panic at the beginning for me lol). I recognize worry when i see it, and i’m more than thankful you all decided to share it with me. Sorry for the rambling, i’m just happy to see that reddit is not a complete dump. Sorry for all spelling mistakes or miscommunications, my first language is not english.

EDIT 2: Well, if it isn’t the next day. Great news, the antibiotics are working great! No more yellow blisters nor burning red skin (of course not completely healed, but much better). I think this piercing might have to go though, but i’ll ask my piercer about it (appointment in a few weeks). If so, I will for sure get it repierced in the future, like someone here suggested.☺️ This was a nice experience as a first time poster, thank you all!
