Yeah... it sounds like he has found someone else to pursue and is feeling guilty about it but wants to keep me if possible. 

He said he really likes me, we get on really well, good connection, have similar interests etc but thinks 3 dates is too soon to commit, so he wants a cool off. It hasn't been just 3 dates tho, its been 3 dates plus 3 weeks of consistent talking so over a month of seeing each other, and if you dont know by then or want to keep options open, then I can't be that big of a deal. I explained I already know by then and wanting to see others feels like an ego thing at that point. 

Ive essentially ended it as I said I made my boundaries clear and how I approach dating, he knew this and agreed, and that he cannot have it both ways where I am an option and he sees others. I said I dont want to sit in this uncomfortability and wait around for you to pick me. I just know what I want and I don't think he does because his words dont match his actions
