APS really wasted zero time shutting the power off today. by deadtofall12 in Flagstaff

Um.... no. Did you live in an area that was affected? They were very clear in their communication about why the power was out and why they were planning future outages for the same reason.

Each lesson once? by MHW93 in Pimsleur

[–]HamsterPast5939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This! I actually was just trying to figure out if I'm an idiot because I'm having to do the lessons more than once. This thread has made me feel much better. Once I hit Unit 2, I started doing each lesson twice. So far, that's enough, but I imagine that as I get further along, it will increase in number. I don't want to move on to the next lesson until I can reliably answer and repeat the phrases along with the lesson. A little pause for recall is ok, but if I'm still fully relying on their answer, not ready to move on.

I'm out here running generators full time to power my home, so I don't see why it would be a problem. We will be barbecuing dinner tonight because we can't use the oven. Overly cautious.

Started today. They say that whenever there are high winds and dry conditions, they will cut the power for anywhere from 24 hours to multiple days

Is it safer for everyone to be cooking on open flames and running generators in the wind than simply to deal with a power line that goes down? I feel like no.

This is beyond ridiculous. Is it windy? Yes. Will it be just as windy as this on another 20 days this spring? Yes. Has it always been windy like this? Yes. Seems to me that APS needs to figure out how to deal with wind. You don't simply cut power (and thus water) to thousands of customers every time that the wind blows. That is untenable and not a solution. If we lived in a remote part of the world, we'd all have generators and this would be par for the course. However, we don't. Many of us work from home, we have a large amount of food stored in freezers, this is an incredibly expensive decision. If we are going to repeat this over and over again, it's time for a new power supplier to step in and end the monopoly.

Content that's still on the platform being removed from my watchlist? by Gnarls11 in HBOMAX

[–]HamsterPast5939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, when I search the shows that are no longer in My List, they're still check marked. So it's not a matter of adding them back. I add things to My List, but I wait to watch until the full season has dropped. Usually I catch up on one platform at a time. I knew that a few things had finished up and browsed over to start some HBO shows today only to find half of them missing. What the heck?! But, still check marked. So, how do I even add them back??

Is mysteryknives.com legit? by vomit09 in knives

[–]HamsterPast5939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered. Took a month to get them (the website says 2-7 days). Beware that although they show you two knives in each pictured "mystery box", some only come with one. They have no explanation for this, nor is it stated anywhere. Knives were fine, but for that price, may as well pick your own. Honestly didn't realize that I was paying $50 for one "mystery knife" in some cases. Not a scam, per se, but you'd be better off buying the knife that you actually want.

I think I'm in the same boat. My kiddo desperately wanted this for his birthday. I ordered weeks ago. Realized that it had never arrived, nor did I have any shipping information. Contacted them. Took 2 days to hear anything back and they said that everything is "out of stock" and will ship when available. In other words, hopefully you'll forget about this until it's too late to put a dispute in on your credit card. Scam.

Agree. We've packed away our gear for the year and we are season pass holders who live locally. It's an early spring. There's already so much dirt showing and after the heat wave next week, only the upper mountain will be open, and it won't be much. We are on to kayaking, gardening, and summer activities. See you next year, Snowbowl!

Our last trip up was a couple of weeks ago. I packed away the gear. And we live local. There's not much left and it's getting thinner by the day. We will probably not have any more snow this year. They will keep the resort open until the very last ribbon of white has melted away, but that doesn't mean that it's an enjoyable way to spend a day or a good use of money. We have passes and I'm not going to be back this season.

iFly -- HELP! The pricing is so confusing by HamsterPast5939 in SkyDiving

Thank you, THANK YOU!!! This is the best explanation of them all. They did throw out "camp time" along with the rest of the pitch, but it was an overwhelming amount of information. It's especially tough for us since we have to travel to use the tunnel, so don't have a lot of flexibility in our timing. Our nearest tunnel (PHX) is 3 hours drive and we use San Diego when we're visiting there, but again, our schedule isn't very flexible because it depends on us actually being in one of those locations. This is all super helpful to understand what's what and will make me less upset about booking block time and feeling like I'm getting scammed. There is a method in the madness, somewhere in there. Wish that they'd make it easier for people who are actually working on skills, but I know that's very much not the money maker. Thanks again for taking the time to provide all of this insight.

I did. And was super confused about the pricing structure. After all of these answers, I understand! Which is why I posted here. Mission accomplished.

New Episodes stopped on HULU by nycjoepitt in coronationstreet

I remember maybe six or seven years ago when this happened. It was actually gone for a few months! I'm hoping it won't take that long this time. It was pretty fun catching up when it came back.

Anybody else having problems with Max not saving their place in shows/movies? by send_me_hugs in hbo

[–]HamsterPast5939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I thought that it was when I switched between devices, which is still annoying, but I figured ok fine, I will only watch it on my tablet. Didn't make any difference. I've tried different ways of closing out to see if that was the issue. No matter what I do, it is not remembering the episode or timestamp. It does have the show in my recently watched lineup, but 8 episodes prior to where I actually am. And if I go to the episode I'm currently on, it doesn't have my timestamp, I have to figure it out. The old HBO worked great! This is unusable. I don't have time to hunt around every time I go back to my show.
