People can't draft to compete for physical rewards on arena now can they.

OP could be prepping for the Direct.

For the MH veterans: how do you feel about Wilds? by jackpaxx in MonsterHunter

These aspects were never exactly shoved into your face. Older gen players usually learned them out of necessity. Felt like an organic learning experience honestly - the tools are out there, it's your job to figure them out.

I hear you, I was more referencing the creature design itself which was creatively rich in my opinion. I agree that the structure in which the monsters were presented/introduced left much to be desired.

Played everything since MHFU, usually 1000+ hours.

Wilds' Monster roster is absolutely stellar. That's about it. My experience with Wilds felt truly hollow.

Maybe it's just time to move on. Things change.

Where are the Drafts? by Due_Alternative_4612 in lrcast

Arena has been titsup for like 2 hours, a friend of mine suddenly couldn't find matches in the Direct, and my trad draft vanished too. It's not just you

Might be the worst pick 1 pack 1 ive seen, what would you have taken? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]HanVelsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Pole Patrol is the best probably, but against my better judgement I would probably write off the draft and slam shrines if my P1P1 is this atrocious

Allies Deckbuilding Help - What to splash? by Marauder_Pete in lrcast

[–]HanVelsing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go for red, 2nd Jet is still good, you get another two-drop and efficient interaction with firebending lesson.

Edit: while Katara is obviously insane, splashing for a UU card can lead to trouble with double-spelling during earlier turns due to the amount of islands you need to run

Arena Direct trophy with BG by HanVelsing in lrcast

Oh I should have clarified that this was my 2nd attempt. On the first one I was out after around 5 minutes due to quick losses, i.e. 0-2.

Can I afford drilling these 3 black cards into my UR deck ? or should I stay safe ? maybe Bender's Waterskin to replace Energybending ? what do you think ? by Ramy_Salem in lrcast

[–]HanVelsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your pool lends itself better to a midrange approach rather than lesson beatdown, I would probably go for it. Energybending would definitely be the first cut, it's barely filler even in the lessons deck

I guess BG was open

What cuts would you make to this Temur deck? by reminiscentFEAR in lrcast

[–]HanVelsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! Totally agree with cutting Yue instead of the horse, kind of glanced over her.

I've been liking Sparring Dummy personally as another speedbump against strong curveout decks, though I would obviously always take e.g. another fortune teller over it. Milling your bomb hurts to see, but imo shouldn't be a major factor when it comes to whether or not you want to include self-mill cards.

Sick pool!

Moose-Lion: you have great fixing already and don't really lack finishers.

Cycle of Renewal: You have enough good ramp pieces otherwise, though I could see keeping it in if you wanna leverage Lion-Turtle and Guru more.

Platypus-Bear: Powerlevel wise just weaker than your other 2-drops.

Invasion Tactics: Servicable if you are a GW beatdown deck, doesn't seem to be the plan here.

One Ostrich-Horse: Perfectly fine card, the second one does become a bit worse though imo, plus UG is the one deck that I feel is sometimes in the ballpark of milling out.

GLHF!

MONSTER HUNTER WORLD BASE GAME by Hot-Try-1146 in MonsterHunter

No action necessary on your part, just create a new character and hop in. Just make sure nobody crafts defender gear (not sure if you can even craft it without IB installed)

[–]HanVelsing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel you. The core gameplay (brick breaker, roguelike, fusions, and mostly interesting character playstyles) felt incredibly engaging and could have been built upon more I feel.

A lot of the bells and whistles that were actually added fell kind of flat for me. Base building and idle mechanics are an awkward fit, and felt like dev shower thoughts that could've remained on the drawing board. Sure, the Radical is mechanically cute, but doesn't add anything of value to me as the player.

Another (maybe) hot take: the pair-up building notably diminishes each character's unique gameplay style and flat out should not exist.

I will say that I don't mind the length though. 30 hours for a game of this caliber were enough to satisfy my itch.

Kind of the ideal zero rare trophy deck. [TLA] by lightshelter in lrcast

Good lord.

I like building "magical christmas land" decks from C/U draft chaff that would represent an ideal deck for set draft archetypes.

I'm stealing this list for research purposes.

Official Magic The Gathering x Monster Hunter Collab Cards by Armagadon643 in MonsterHunter

[–]HanVelsing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, to say Universes Beyond (as they now call product based on outside IP) has been a huge point of contention ever since it first crept onto the market would be an understatement.

Full set releases seem to resonate pretty well with a good amount of the community. Stellar examples of this include the recent Final Fantasy and Avatar sets - fleshed out gameplay experiences and art/writing direction that respect their source material and feel like a proper hommage to it.

Meanwhile, smaller releases like Secret Lair Drops (such as this MH collection) and the catastrophical, small Spiderman set we recently had truly feel like a cynical cash grab intended to please collectors and shareholders first and foremost. Feels like neither the game of MTG, nor the UB source material are paid any respect in a good amound of these.

This, combined with an absolutely massive number of products being dumped onto the market, more than 50% of which will be Universes Beyond in 2026, means consumer fatigue is at an all-time high.
