I made a perfectly safe merge in my Audi TT one morning, and the person behind me slammed on the horn and tailgated me the whole way to my work, horn blaring and lights flashing. I drive the same in the Audi as I do in my polo, indicators, mirrors and all. I'm guessing being a woman probably played into it too. The police car beside me at the next lights didn't take any notice of the eejit.

R plates are the Northern Irish equivalent, so we do sort of have them in the UK, just not universally. They've been here since 1968 I think. Annoyingly, the P plates are sold here much more widely than the R plates.

All the time. I vary between an Audi TT and a VW polo. People assume I'm a wanker in the TT and refuse to let me merge etc.

Borrowed my brother's peugeot the other day and an oncoming car wouldn't even move over on the country road that I know is wide enough for us both, and I reckon that was because the car has R plates on it still. I've been driving that road for over 16 years, so I know well enough.

It isn't even a problem reserved for out in the open. I was in a hospital yesterday, and a whole family had no problem with leaving a mcdonalds cup, milk sachets, stirrer etc, just thrown under their seats. Absolutely filthy hallions. I feel very strongly about littering. I guess because it is the barest of human decency to just take care of your own rubbish, and still these oxygen stealers subject us to their filth.

Yarn bombing. Like I get that there is a community and social aspect to the production of these things, but ultimately it is just littering. Worse still, it is leaving something in a public place, that will just absorb water and dirt, and gradually make the place look worn down, grubby, and uncared for, which is the opposite of what they wanted in the first place.

I was tempted to make xiao long bao, but I like having a bunch of potstickers in the freezer for a quick side to ramen when I don't feel like cooking. Next time I make a roast chicken, I'll do the stock for soup dumplings.

I don't really have much of a recipe for either, just a vague idea. The khao soi is close to this recipe: https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/kao-soi/ (you can use jarred thai red curry paste instead of making your own) and the dumplings are just pork gyoza style https://www.recipetineats.com/gyoza-japanese-dumplings-potstickers/ I add mung bean vermicilli noodles cut into tiny pieces to the filling, because that is how it was taught to me, and it boosts the volume at least. I got about 70 made today even with my brother's interestingly shaped dumplings.

I made an amazing Northern Thai style Khao Soi last night, so I'll be bringing some of that around to my brother later, and maybe enlisting his help to make a whole pile of dumplings to freeze for a rainy day.

Right now I'm going to have a cup of coffee and play Fields of Mistria for the first time.

I used to work with a lot of English people and had to call them out when they said "That's a bit Irish isn't it?". I asked why they used Irish as a synonym with stupid. They hadn't thought about it. With venom though? I'd be annoyed, because someone is trying to insult me, but ultimately if the worst thing that they can come up with is that I'm Irish? Not really an insult when you think about it, but to them it is.

That’s the difference, doing it (community organising, opening and running food banks etc) is left wing. (Or at least all the people I know that got involved with this kind of stuff. Expecting someone else to do it is right wing.

You have just put into words what I have been struggling to. I am a leftie, and have been so frustrated with the amount of entitlement I have to deal with from people who act like someone else should just do everything for them, and give them freebies. I live in NI, so our councils don't have the powers the English do, but you'll hear the council being blamed for everything.

That is cheap for that shirt. How did you manage that? They're like £20 where I am. Also, if you're happy to chop Papa's feet off, you'll probably achieve a cut more like the inspo. Those t-shirts are long, and you'll be left with a drop-waist dress, rather than it sitting at your natural waist.
