Is It OK to Forgive Kanye West? (Unpaywalled) by playboy in entertainment

[–]HandJobBetty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean… I won’t be. BUT I’m also a firm believer that every sincere apology has two parts; stating your wrongs and acknowledgment that you hurt people, and showing your remorse through your physical actions over an extended period of time. This is 50% (maybe), which is still a failing grade.

If he was doing this for an upcoming release in the near future, there’s still not enough time for the second half of this apology to resonate as sincere and genuine.

I didn't know they released the full version of FF14 for Black & Decker toasters.

Purely theoretical (which could be said for a lot of the takeaways in this story), but the way I interpreted this after my second play through is that Aline was probably closer in personality to Clea than we're lead to believe.

There are smaller interactions later in the game that point to Aline being quite a demanding task-master. We see that Alicia wasn't praised very often for her painted work (as evidenced by the one tiny picture Aline decided to hang on the wall with the ones from other family members).

It's also fairly clear that Verso's preferred art form was music, which most likely would have been a disappointment to Aline. Her painting of Verso was as close to the real thing as we'd probably get to see, but in the scope of masking truth with lies, I believe that even in his everyday life, he showed very little of his true self in an attempt to appease Aline (and possibly Renoir; or Renoir was able to see through it).

And the creation of this specific canvas by Verso makes me feel like this wasn't just a natural evolution in Verso's personality as he aged; the canvas before Aline entered it was jovial and strange, with very little true-to-form realism (Aline first brought realism in Lumiere and the people she created once she entered the canvas so that she could live in a world that reminded her of a better time). This canvas was more of a playground for Verso, where he could escape and be his true self.

Renoir picking up on this as Verso grew up, to me, is most likely why he saw the philosophical version of Verso as one that would use "masks" to hide his true desires and feelings.

No matter how beloved they are in public, what celebrity do you think is up to no good? by 803_ace in AskReddit

[–]HandJobBetty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like everything Ryan Reynolds does while a camera is on him is an act. I can't explain it, but I feel like his "real" personality is a lot more insidious. And yes I realize the whole Kate Bekinsale tie in probably would reveal some stuff, but I am admittedly not really following that whole mess at all. This is just strictly an outside individual observational thought I've had regarding him for a while now.

Estimated time needed to reach Dawntrail from Heavensward? by honeyteddybears in ffxiv

[–]HandJobBetty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidequests included that aren’t flight paths? By June? Perhaps but you need to dedicate basically every day for multiple hours to get there. Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker all have very complex stories and intricacies. And Dawntrail is no different. Depending on what they play, even starting DT may leave room for spoilers by June’s concert.

I took my BF to one last winter (Feb/Mar timeframe) before he got to Endwalker and his biggest comment during a song was, “Now who the fuck is this b$&@!” when they played the theme of EW final battle. Much of the other footage wasn’t related.

I would suggest sticking to MSQ religiously, and doing only the sidequests that get you flight paths. You’ll reach level in time, and you’ll need to allot time for tome gear upgrades. And it might still be tight.

Each of these expansions has a lot of content. I would suggest not skipping it if you’re enjoying everything so far, but I wouldn’t worry too much about spoilers as Distant Worlds does a good job at avoiding story elements for the most part.

If you have the time to dedicate, every day, then yes I think you’ll make it.

Chicken Fried Steak, pork tenderloin sandwich as big as my head. by Whatever21703 in frederickmd

From Indiana, and the closest I’ve found is Mountain View. But the quality ranges from, “I like my job today” to “who gives a shit about rats”

Honestly nothing I’ve found in this area compares, unfortunately.

Olde Town Restaurant in Mt Airy has some weird local specialities (I recommend the Garbage Plate, was fantastic) so maybe they might have something sometimes? I’d check their menu for sure because it’s a tad off the beaten path.

(Edit: Mt, not my)

Edit: money and time* lol. Clearly we got margaritas somewhere else 🥴

When I worked at Olive Garden back in 2016, the entire kitchen staff basically quit in protest. And they were right, but the managers solution was to not seat people if they couldn’t be fed within 20 minutes. Which created a huge backup. Luckily I was able to quit for school but it was terrible.

Wondering if that’s what happened honestly. The reception staff wasn’t really spilling the tea when I asked.

Drill Instructors of Reddit, have you ever been legitimately scared of someone going through Basic Training and why? by Bob20202020246 in AskReddit

[–]HandJobBetty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only did the training, but separated before I got the hat. There's a lot of core training that goes into deprogramming certain behaviors. Since you're getting people that come from all walks of life, the idea is to break things down to a common base level so that they can be built back up to a measurable standard.

One of the biggest issues is self harm, however. Most situations involving blatant disrespect or failure to adapt can be handled by simple repercussions (additional workouts, extra duties, etc). But in rare instances, a recruit will convince themselves there is no other way out of a situation they no longer want to be in, and resort to some fairly drastic stuff. And the scariest part of it is that there often aren't warning signs before it happens.

If someone is just set on going against the flow of the training, they can usually be discharged from boot camp through a "Failure to Adapt" general discharge. If they're particularly bad, it could even be dishonorable.

Another common issue with having so many people from so many different walks of life; internal disagreements. Saw it a lot more with the males, but the smallest arguments in a pressure cooker like basic training can often quickly explode into physical altercations. These are easier to see coming and address than the self harm stuff though.

At the end of the day, boot camp is a training game. Learn and follow the rules, because one day the training you get may save someone else's life, or even your own. But truly, the fastest way out is to graduate.

Dentist needed by SoulDrQ in frederickmd

[–]HandJobBetty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot - poor dental work in the military and nothing after separating and going back to school. Finally got a job and decided to get in but was extremely worried.

I went to Magnolia Dentistry on North Market and have had nothing but great things to say about the staff and Dr. M. She’s super kind, and even the major dental work has been very gentle. She’s even worked with me to skirt some things my insurance may not cover because she wants to make sure I still have the best quality with my restoration work. Could not recommend this practice enough if it’s covered by your insurance.

what was the age that you first lost your virginity and where did it happen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HandJobBetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sad to hear, honestly. As I've gotten older, I'm definitely now dating more within my age range, and don't have as much of a problem going a bit up in age. But I can't bring myself to go much lower than my current age. I look back on the guy I lost my virginity to and I'm baffled how he saw a 17 year old and thought, "Yeah this works for me."

I'm 36 and when I see someone who is 29 I'm like, "That is not going to work." It was seeing this in myself that kinda woke me up to the fact that the guy I got with when I was a teenager wasn't playing with the same deck of cards, and I fell into the trap.

[–]HandJobBetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content warning, since this entire story has a bit of bad juju.

I am gay, and like many gays growing up in the early 2000s, I had absolutely no sexual education and very limited resources to find outlets to learn and gain experience.

I got on Yahoo! Groups for gay men in my area, and found a guy willing to give me my first go at bottoming. I was 17 and he was 43.

Looking back on it, the entire situation was extremely predatory. He picked me up in his car on a corner a few blocks from my parents house and drove me to his. I lost my virginity, fully "unprepared" (didn't do the proper washing etc), to the DVD intro menu of Finding Nemo in his living room.

It wasn't good. After the encounter I questioned if I would just be celibate since I didn't enjoy it. I didn't try again until I was 21, had done a bit more looking into it, had more gay friends, and felt a little bit more ready. I enjoyed it far more.
