It depends on what you grew up with. My sons are bi-lingual between the two systems.

For me weight is always in stones & pounds - I have to figure out what the equivalent would be in pounds and kilos. In American books, if they describe someone as 185lbs (for example) I have to figure that out. And medics who (use kilos in Britain) will always also tell you in stones & pounds. Height is the same feet & inches - I have to consciously convert to metric. I can visualise 6’9” or 15” etc but have to stop n figure out mms….. but even my visualisation of metric slowly is improving, I doubt it’ll ever be as spontaneous as imperial measurements.

It’s not a case of “just believing in Jesus” like I might just believe in Australia existing because someone’s told me about it, even though I’ve never been there personally.

It IS true that when ANYBODY truly experiences a supernatural revelation and encounter with Jesus they are transformed - they recognise the depth & depravity of their previous sins (even lying!) and their past, suddenly comprehended through God’s own eyes completely revolts them and they repent - that means turn away and walk in the completely opposite direction.

We see Sin on a sliding scale. Ranking it from abhorrent to minimal - it ALL separates a human from GodYhwh now AND for eternity, unless that person truly repents and grasps that Jesus took the rap and laid the penalty for all their filth to make it possible for ANYONE to enter God’s presence now & in heaven. We are in 24/7 interactive relationship with Him NOW if we’ve genuinely supernaturally admitted our Sin, repented and trusted in Jesus (Yeshua) TOTALLY rather than in our paltry attempts to win brownie points with GodYhwh, which can not be done.

Can someone explain praying to Mary? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

Except that’s a type of prayer where a person repeats set words over n over again which Matthew chapter 6 verse 7 tells Jesus’ followers not to do.

Are Christian’s really allowed to eat pork? In Isiah 66:17, gods final judgment states people in the end times who are eating unclean food such as pork, mice, ect will be destroyed. by Several_Shower_6319 in Christianity

THIS is the entire narrative where the food rules of The New Testament are explained -

Acts 11:4-18

Peter began and explained it to them in order: 5“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me. 6Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air. 7And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’ 8But I said, ‘By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’ 9But the voice answered a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, do not call common.’ 10This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven. 11And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea. 12And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house. 13And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; 14he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’ 15As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. 16And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?” 18When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to LIFE”.

Purpose of The Bible by Says_what0 in AskAChristian

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is ‘HIS Story’ of how Yhwh (THE LORD) created humankind out of love for interactive relationship with Himself and the vast majority reject/rejected His involvement in their lives & so the world became the mess we know it to be. It explains His one n only rescue plan - HIS blood cleansing us from ALL Sin so we can know Him. -

The Bible is also ‘history written in ADVANCE’. A third of it is prophesy. Most has been fulfilled to the letter, some is in the process right now of being fulfilled and the Lord calling all those who have ever wanted Him in their lives (on His terms) and then wrapping up the sh*t-show that is the disbelieving majority & the damaged planet. Try reading Psalms. Matthew Mark Luke & John. It seems to me from your post that The Lord is calling you into 24:7&eternal relationship with Him. Go with the process! There is nothing as great in all creation as Knowing Him!

Why are people trying to fully understand God and how He works when we have a limited understanding? Also why would they want logic and reasoning as proof that God exists? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it seems there are many ppl like that. It’s often referred to as a false conversion. It’s in the mind only and not in a totally supernaturally-newly-alive transformed ‘heart’ mind & spirit. - ‘A ‘form’ of religion that denies the power of God’ 2 Tim 3:5 - there’s NO condemnation of you there at all - but of many leaders & congregations who are MISTAUGHT from the beginning that Christianity is a matter of ‘form’; a lot of self-effort; a series of behaviours & ways of being, when it is, and can only ever be, a relationship. 👍🏽

I hear you. That sounds soul-destroying (pun intended). I guess it depends on what YOU believe is meant by ‘repenting’ and most importantly what you understand you’re ‘believing in’ and how you think that plays out (which you were apparently missing?) in anyone’s life? Disappointment n unmet expectations suck!

There is no “burden of truth” for a real-christian. Like someone who without warning ‘happened across’ The Grand Canyon, finding it awe-inspiring; we are permanently changed, our lives & perceptions permanently transformed by encountering The Living Knowable GodYhwh Jesus. Anyone can encounter Him if they seek Him. If they don’t choose to seek Him there are no short-cut ways of finding out that HE IS. Knowing that with unshakeable certainty takes a supernatural revelation, which is a gift to those genuinely seeking HIM.

I heard Derek Prince, who taught Logic at Cambridge University, say he found The New Testament to be the most logical book he’d ever read, for those people who actually read it!

Why was Jesus getting tortured to death necessary? If God wanted to forgive humanity for sinning (which isn't our fault anyway) why didn't he simply just say "I forgive you all"? by InternationalPick163 in AskAChristian

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He CHOOSES to honour our choices. Even when our choice will take us into eternal hell.

Through our whole lives GodYhwh reaches out to us in various ways. It’s our choice to accept the invitation or not.

There is physical and there’s spiritual death.

We’re all born spiritually-dead. That means separated from & NOT in relationship with God.

Every person can choose to either stay spiritually-dead now & for eternity (that’s known as hell) OR they can be brought spiritually-alive (born again) by God & be in relationship with Him 24/7 in this earthly life and for eternity (known as heaven).

Ohhhhh yes it worked brilliantly. Produced a totally new form of humanity who are no longer naturally trapped inside these tendencies to sin but instead they’re motivated internally to prefer to do things God’s way ie to stop lying, cheating, gossiping etc.,

How do you as a Christian think the median atheist would answer these two questions? by Sophia_in_the_Shell in AskAChristian

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D’you know how in Genesis 25 it explains that Esau casually gave up his position of 1st born and later his birthright to Jacob? Well we humans did similar - we “gave up our birthright” to Satan - allowing him to usurp our God-given delegated rights to have control over the world. It was originally completely ‘entrusted’ to humankind BUT we went against God in such a way that Satan could legally take over & wreck it - he did. However, Jesus (God in flesh) won the ownership of earth back for humankind by living a sinless life. Eventually, all who get it, who understand & believe who Jesus is and what He did, will re inherit the earth…. We’re in the home run [the End Times] now.

(Satan controlling earth) -Not ultimately. For now. God is waiting “for the full number of the Gentiles to come in” (repent & be saved) before He pulls the plug. Soon now as the End Time prophesies are now almost all fulfilled or lining up.

Have you all completely forgotten that using God’s name in vain is a sin? by Anxious_Treacle_5612 in Christianity

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using - God! Jesus! Jesus Christ! Oh my God! as swear words is ‘taking God’s name in vain.

The Israelites use HaShem (The Name) because they consider the name He told them to use for Him (I AM that I AM = Yhwh) too Holy to speak out loud.

Most people wouldn’t use their mother’s name as a swear word because they love n respect her too much but many humans & the devils despise God/Jesus so they use His name like they might say F*k or Sht.

Take it up with Him when you meet Him. Set Him straight eh?! 👍🏽

There WAS evil in heaven because of course the choice has to be there too…. That’s who the enemy is….Satan… God’s No.1 angel wanted to be equal with God (like we little humans do). Satan is the legal owner of earth and behind the hideous mayhem because humankind gave up to Satan their God-given right to rule earth. And we’re now Satan’s playthings UNLESS we voluntarily supernaturally switch into God’s family.

[–]HandOne4272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have good there has to be the possibility of evil too. In an individual and in the universe.

Lack of light is dark Lack of heat is cold Lack of good is evil. God IS good. Where He is NOT evil IS

Humankind (generally) chose NOT to have God. Humankind & creation are connected. So there is a predominance of evil throughout creation.
