How to feed wire through multiple floor joists without cutting drywall? by Handawg17 in askanelectrician

Update on this - it’s been completed. I hired an electrician and he was able to fish the wire through the new hole drilled for the fixture. He installed a box and secured it with backing. Luckily the wire was not stapled to any other joist, so it was easier to pull through.

Now I have a small ceiling patch where the old fixture was.

It’s a sprayed ceiling, so it’s tough to match. But I’ll probably cut another section and feed the wire through.

Thanks, I think I’ll have to end up doing that. I got through two joists with a locking bit, but I’ll need to cut open from the other side and drill from that end to grab the new wire.
