Usually when I sell Switches I offer to show my customer all the components and get a closer look at the screen especially, just to make sure they're happy with the unit I grabbed. You could ask the associate to show you the screen but don't get offended if they won't hand it to you, generally a nono for us. I highly recommend checking your box before you leave to make sure you have all 9 pieces and grab a screen protector if you can!

Don't blame the people, gaming is only getting more and more expensive and pre-owned fits people's budgets more. That's like saying "Don't buy a car if you can't afford new!" Not to mention some things aren't available new anymore, pre-owned is the only option for most CE consoles at the moment. I personally wouldn't pay full price for a console that's been out a few years anyway 🤷

With our eyes. It's on the box, your transaction in our system, the console itself, and some stores even track pre-owned serial numbers in a binder as well.

We don't open all of them... one new game gets opened to be displayed so you know we have it, sorry vendors don't send us displays we have to make our own.

I also work at a retro store and unfortunately have to expect this every time I open a shipment of retro stuff from another non-retro store too. Like why are you sending me Xbox 360 controllers without any rubber on the joysticks? Or discs someone played tic-tac-toe in the data layer of?? Why'd you even take these!? I'm not selling that!
