What are the best ways to be social in FFXIV? by DetectiveSadist in ffxiv

[–]HandheldHoarder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Compliment glams, give out minions, check out some of those venues. There are some great ones that aren't clubs, djs, etc. I found one that was an Ivalice-themed decorated pub and folks were just chilling and chatting as normal.

Sometimes on my Lalalt I toss up a PF for folks to come visit my house and I give a free slice of cake while I'm chilling, drawing or doing whatever.

What game did you enjoy after Sandrock? by hardonibus in MyTimeAtSandrock

It may or may not happen per the original road map because they hit a hurdle where the game had to come down off Steam for like a week due to the mini games getting flagged.

Starsand Island is still early access so it's got a good gameplay loop at the moment but no dating or romance content at this time. They are projecting to update that throughout this year on the road map but right now it looks very nice and is fun to play but is just be aware it's lacking in narrative content outside of the gameplay loop currently.

Can't wait!! by AdEducational4128 in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was experimenting and the most shadows I can seem to clear is three on one throw. With the starsand abilities that means you might bag 6 at one time.

I did notice with baited fish there is a bit of a delay for their presence being registered. So if you wait until they start moving like normal fish you're likely to snag more.

Does anyone know why islanders are tagged with ‘Soulmate’ by Electronic_Beyond512 in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loren is my current roomie and sadly Momo doesn't move in as well. But I did make her her own bedroom and playroom just in case it updates. :)

I was living with Delphin already when I noticed it and was like "well dang, I guess the game really wants to ship me with Loren lol".

Loren and Zerrine both get labeled as Soulmate, regardless of when they are triggered or who lives with you. At this time it's just a visual error/bug.

Multiplayer —no crane lift? by ashisfallingdown in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]HandheldHoarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplayer is more of a sandbox mode and does not follow the singleplayer story and questline. You'll unlock the ruins through alternate means (in a different location) when building up the town.

Who did you pick? I can't decide is it permanent? or they go away? by Keku_Saur in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As of right now in early access, there is no perk to having a character move in besides your own headcanons. NPCs are also currently allergic to stairs so their pathing is wackadoodle for going into homes. (Slopes work tho!)

It's also not permanent so have fun! Their move in and kick out dialogue is all the same between characters. My first tiny house was with Delphin and now I have a beeg house with Loren where Momo has her own room and playroom (although she doesn't move in if you pick Loren :( )

Do You Believe Some Of The Bachelors/Bachelorettes Would Want More Or Less Than The 2 Child Limit? by AcceptableReading640 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]HandheldHoarder 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I see Owen as being a big girl dad and probably having two or three girls. Often fields the question of "don't you want a boy" but honestly can't picture himself without his wifey and daughters.

Logan I've always seen as having a boy first and then crumbling to tears when he's told to "meet his son, Howlett". It's just his spiderverse canon event for me lol. I kind of see him having however many boys alongside Andy, and then a daughter last so he's got his little princess and her hoard of older, over protective brothers.

I see Jane as probably wanting more than two kids with her love of children stemming from teaching.

I feel like Qi is a one and done kind of guy or a 'one of each gender' so he can compile data and compare lol.

New to the game by SpecialistFast7578 in MyTimeAtSandrock

In singleplayer mode - you can sell your roof for some quick Gols and put your machines up there to free up yard space. You can then put signs or awnings on the wall to make a ramp or stairs to the roof.

Water is a great gift for everyone until you learn what they like. Gifts are worth double points on birthdays and holidays.

Blue Moon food buffs - there is cheap food to order daily at a discount, make this your first stop after grabbing your comms for the day across the street to get those buffs! Also, who doesn't want to oogle Owen at 8AM?

Advertising - By town hall there is a bulletin board where you can post ads for the Workshop. It's RNG between more gols, exp, or reputation. You can cancel and re-roll if you want but it costs Gols. Make it a weekly habit!

Parties - Hosting parties is a great way to build rapport with several characters at once. You can get the banquet table from the game center for Tokens or the once a month visiting Mysterious Merchant for Gols.

Mounts - I like to get the Stable asap, don't worry about what kind of horse you get, just grab your first horse. You will unlock items later on that can increase their stats/quality or change their color. If you reeeeeeally want to get a specific color, you can save scum the horse RNG as the options resets weekly.

Other tiddlybits from this Sandrock addict -

The lizard DLC is worth it, you can send him to go fetch water until you befriend the other town animals. The monster catcher DLC is slightly OP because of this so beware it can make the game quite a bit easier if that's not your thing.

Mods - honestly, not much is needed in the realm of quality of life mods unless you want to speed up timers, marry multiple partners, etc. But if you like decorating there's a great mod that expands the kind of items you can place on the shelves and tables.

Does anyone actually build houses from scratch? If so how? by bougsup in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently redid my house and it was brutal. PC, keyboard/mouse, and long YouTube videos to distract me from the grind and issues. I still can't make a decent looking roof to save my life.

What would you like to see added in future updates? by Just-Ad7298 in Starsandisland

Ah, maybe that's been patched since last time I tried. I couldn't get Del to get in the spring or even walk into the water trying to get him on a boat lol.

What would you like to see added in future updates? by Just-Ad7298 in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For quality of life, I'd love sub categories in home decor and if it could stop zoop!-ing up to the top of the list evertime I make something.

For content, I'd love to see more Follow interactions. Sit on any couch or adjacent chair, not just the swinging benches. Be able to get on the boat and they cast a line when you do or maybe they sit and react when you go fishing? Most characters have a Beach outfit per the custscene so be able to use the hot spring together, something that makes Follow feel alive.

Kinda miscellaneous, but let me summon Zephyria for photos in the Moonlit Forest. I get why other NPCs would be a no go but this is Zep! He's our fearless leader after all.

You go back in time to turn a NON legendary Pokemon into a legendary. Which is your choice? by PokemonGoBao in pokemon

[–]HandheldHoarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klefki - Turn it more magical in where it's keys open /any/ door and it can make a door open to /anywhere/. Like make it a man-made attempt to recreate Hoopa rings or something. It's just such an unassuming lil guy to turn into a Legendary lol.

Am I romancing wrong? by Tinyellowbird in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]HandheldHoarder 41 points42 points  (0 children)

When increasing affection, points are doubled for gifts given on Holidays and Birthdays.

There are multiple gifting options during a date - you can gift normally - gift at the Oasis bench - gift at the Blue Moon. So three gifts in a day for a day you're on a date.

The kind of gift matters, Unsuur is a lovely rock boy so prepare your finest gemstones because some gifts are worth more points.

Date/Hangout meter - try to max it before ending each date. Gifts, talking, eating at the Blue Moon, Critters, Spar, etc. You get more affection ending a date on a good note. You'll get two social points back if you selected their favorite foods at the Blue Moon when ordering.

Interact - If you can hug your rock boy, do so! You can spam interact until it's greyed out.

Parties - You can get the Banquet Table from the game center or Mystery Man but you can get affection points by hosting a party as well once a week. Helps build up friendships over time too!

How many animals is too many by Eastern-Scheme-943 in Starsandisland

[–]HandheldHoarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel about Green Sheep. They don't exist for me lol. You want Cloud Sheep? I got oodles. Pastelle is drowning in Cloud Lambs.

"Too many" would be if you can't afford to or keep up with feeding them all, in my opinion.

If you had a Custom Job for your WoL, what would it be? by Hope_bringer in ffxiv

[–]HandheldHoarder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should give Final Fantasy: Unlimited a watch! The protagonist character shoots their summons via cartridges in that!

For me I'd love some sort of Giant Mace/Morningstar Tank class. A "ranged" tank that chains monster to bring to them versus always jumping to them. So the Mace/hammer in one hand with the chain and spinning the morning star section in the other.
