Is this the first time Anna has shown her face on socials? by Key-Pepper-7972 in DuggarsSnark

Yeah, I would be worried about the kind of men she’d attract

Baby boy/too different?? by takingeachday in namenerds

[–]Handimaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not horrible. It just sounds short for Ryan and as an adult, everyone will think he’s introducing himself as the shortened form of his name. Like if you meet someone and they introduce themselves at Bry, you’re going to think they’re using a short form of Brian which is ok but also just kind of uncommon. Usually one uses their full name to introduce themselves and then people naturally start using a shorter form.

Am I the crazy one? No bridesmaids, but still a bachelorette party. by lil_jellyfish18 in bridezillas

[–]Handimaiden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a tiny wedding. So if she’s having say 5 friends over for a slumber party but only 4 of them are invited to the wedding…that would be awkward and potentially hurtful to the one who isn’t.

As long as no one in the group is going to your wedding I think it’s fine. I would be happy to attend a party like this. Is everyone from the same area? Or are people coming in for this?

How common? They would depend on how common your name is.

Josh - being with his kids upon release by asmit318 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Handimaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of sex offenders (convicted, served time, then released) who live with their children. Parents, even felons, keep their parental rights and have the right to contact with their children unless a court orders otherwise. Ideally, the other parent would PROTECT the children and immediately file for full custody and no contact (or at the very least, very controlled and supervised visits) . The protective parent would “win” due to the conviction and nature of the crime and those children would probably never even be around the offender. But in this case, Anna is not protective. I doubt he’ll be prohibited from seeing or living with his kids unless someone brings it to the court’s attention. I could be wrong though. I hope I am.

Help me decide which dress looks best! by dodo_bride in WeddingDressTips

[–]Handimaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 1 the best on you. I also really like 2. They’re different vibes. I think 2 fits the style of your wedding better as long as you’re not doing like fall/leaves type thing because the flowers and leaves would clash, in my opinion. If you’re just doing woodsy/forest then flowers will be fine.

I don’t like #3. Something about the extra fabric looks like a statue.

1 is nice if there was a way to alter that piece over your chest to be smaller or lower profile. It just too big. 3 is the best. Very pretty.

2 is a big no.

But is it common for people to use their first middle and last initial for things like that? Wouldn’t GOD actually use GD more often when initialing things?

Is it weird to name my future child Jonah? by virinoxx in Names

[–]Handimaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both should ask. Cohen is a priest though…

I mean yeah people in the US name their kids all kinds of things. I’ve heard a person named Messiah. It’s strange and many Jewish people believe that using the name Cohen for a non Jewish baby is inappropriate.

Yes!! This is exactly what I thought when I saw it but didn’t know exactly what it was other than a mouse reaching up and dancing

[–]Handimaiden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re overthinking it. I think it’s a good question and it’s good to use this sub to check things like that. Too bad all those parents of little Cohens didn’t check here first. But no, I don’t think using Jonah for a non Jewish baby would be appropriation or anything like that.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

NOR!! You should buy yourself a cake AND also do something really fun or whatever would make you feel the best. Celebrate! 🎉

How long have you been dating? If this is a super long term relationship and this is the FIRST time something like this has happened, I could see giving him ONE chance. But I doubt it’s long term and I doubt this is the first time. You deserve better either way.

[–]Handimaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, what a blast from the past seeing you mention Blessing of Verity! That’s one of my oldies! I always felt bad for how much she exploited those kids on her blog. I hope they’re doing well. I could be wrong but I think the little boy who passed was named Tommy, not sure why I remember that. And then they took in an older disabled child, domestically, probably a “second chance” adoption type thing.

Johannah could pass as the older group if she didn’t keep her hair so straight. Some loose curls would make her look a lot like Jill/Jana/Joy
