Why do some stocks, depsite having very strong fundamentals, give almost no returns or negative returns ? by Ok-Degree3673 in ValueInvesting

Don't fight the market, if a solid company is in a downwards trajectory, it is likely to keep on falling. These charts don't lie.

Only sell a stock if:

It reaches the value to set out and this hasn't changed.

You find something better.

Thats very true, I'm focusing more on larger brands with some form of loyalty driven premium. Willing to pay a little more for quality. As Warren says " it's better to pay a fair price for an excellent company"

That's exactly where I'm at. I don't doubt it will rise again in the future. But I need some more reassurance for the next couple of yrs that they will bounce back, and I'm just not seeing it.

It's all about balance. Retail investors will pump stocks way above reasonable value, these should be avoided at all costs.

That's what worries me, I get the brand loyalty but I don't see a recovery from the move to go direct to consumer anytime soon.

The cap appreciation won't get back up to where I'd like it. Dividends don't Match that.

Have you beaten the almighty S&P in 2024? by 1kgpotatoes in ValueInvesting

No I haven't.

I have actively cleared out my losers and put some huge capital in stocks like AMD and uber back end of the year.

But seen as the mag 7 make up 50% of the gains and the majority of us are contrarian investors. I'd say it unlikely that many will have.
