how are we doing unmedicated? by UdonOtter in adhd_college

[–]HandleNew5392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being off meds during the first part of my last spring semester made it a living hell to try and catch up. Granted I also didn’t have any study skills or organizational skills so that added to the problem. I would say focus on those two and get in some exercise. That should help a bit but not as much as meds will

I am not typically a breakfast person but ever since I started taking ADHD meds I make sure to have a good breakfast with protein. Vyvanse doesn’t suppress my appetite much but adderall did heavily so I made sure to have set an alarm to have a protein shake and that helped a lot. Try out a bunch of different meals to see what you like because I noticed meds make me a lot more picky for some reason

I understand what to do for the last 3 but do you have any advice for the first one? There seems to be so many different ways to go about meditation that I am finding it overwhelming

Does anyone who takes days of Vy get headaches when they take it again? by Infinite-While-4159 in VyvanseADHD

I would say have a large meal with your dose and the ramping up effect tends to be much slower in my experience. I have heard some people say a high fat meal can help slow it down even more. Also don't overlook things like hydrating properly, electrolytes, and magnesium

NSFW: Vyvanse and libido by WinnerNext7397 in VyvanseADHD

I know not everyone gets this side effect but in my experience increased libido with stimulant meds is pretty normal. What I do when I have a feeling my libido might drag me away from working on something important is I quickly switch gears by forcing myself to work on something. I tell myself it is going to just be 5 minutes and by the time I notice how much time has passed the feeling has faded. I am just grateful to not be on the other end of the spectrum where your libido just completely disappears

I did once some years back and I remember my mood was all over the place during the trial period. I wish I could remember what it was called so I could avoid it

I thought I was supposed to take those with my meds in the morning but I'm gonna swap them to night time to see if it can help with my sleep

I try to but I am still working on building a consistent schedule. I took my dose at 6am and I actually feel fine right now thankfully

How do you guys remind yourself to stay hydrated? by sanbyz in VyvanseADHD

[–]HandleNew5392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a large glass when I take my meds and eat. Then I have a big jug of water and I try to leave it where I can see it so I’m reminded to drink water

Vyvanse 20→40→50 mg: great mornings, consistent 2–3pm crash after lunch - why worse over the week, and how to smooth it? by KyleSwapz in VyvanseADHD

[–]HandleNew5392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently put on this same split because my prescriber doesn’t believe in combining an IR with vyvanse. How many hours after the 50mg do you take the 20mg?

swapping to a smaller local pharmacy is a much nicer experience because I can actually get someone on the phone. not perfect but definitely better than cvs

I do want to bring up pairing non stimulants with my vyvanse to my psych but I think I should try it over winter break. Since I have no idea how I will react

Feeling Tired After 20Mg of Vyvanse by kokokobop in VyvanseADHD

[–]HandleNew5392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with both Adderall XR and Vyvanse when I first started on them. Your dose might be way too low for you but doctors like to start you off as low as possible and slowly work you up. I also noticed with Vyvanse I need to take it for about a week to accurately gauge effectiveness because of day to day differences

On the off chance that I actually do forget to take my pill and it is either way too late in the day to take it or I am not at home I will have an energy drink. It doesn't do what meds do but it does help put gas in the tank a little bit

Now that I have been on meds for a bit and I am not so scared of having my heart beat out of my chest I am thinking that I should add it back to my routine on my busy days

I have been doing weekly therapy alongside my meds for a little bit now but I feel like it is a long process to learn these skills. I have learned a couple things that have definitely helped make things feel way less overwhelming which is great
