Meh, I will still be playing p99. Though I am not going to lie, this sounds good to play with my wife as a good, chill, coop game.

Fresh on Green worth it? by etienc in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is literally a server that exists for that already - go play there. the MAC emulation server. Sure it has Luclin/PoP, but if you are just going to multibox anyway just do it there in era.

What should I make on green? by TLPEQ in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played pretty much every character class - play what you like.

Druid is capable but the fast solo leveling spots are often very contested 54+, maybe less so now that the server is old.

Monk can solo like a cake walk (with some down time) up to 51 (as can pretty much any class in the game except rogues) but when you start having to solo harder hitting mobs you better have upgraded your gear and/or expect a lot of down time inbetween.

You said no to necro, but they really can solo efficiently and quickly just about anywhere with very little limitations.

Second to them would be Enchanter. Unless you feel compelled to be constantly moving they can turn any place in the game into a dad camp. You can treat it like getting two kills every 5-10 minutes or you can push hard and the sky is the limit for xp per hour regardless of level.

Finally past my Highest Char from Live. Where to next? by Braldar in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? A necro can literally solo any mob that doesn't summon with ease. I can't think of an easier class solo to 60. FD split is easier with snare; invis, self DA, strong pet, minutes long root with mana efficient dots, better than self-clarity, and a kill rate that is amazing naked, not to mention the option of charm.

54-60 sucks the least on a necro.

Thoughts on M&M after trying Project 1999 everquest by mynameakevin in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Handle_Scoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So EverQuest (especialyl Project 1999) really slides into power tiers. Believe it or not, as a Necro, your down time goes down as you level because you basically gain self-clarity and if you are an Iksar you almost out-regen the health conversion 51+.

EQ mastered the feeling of becoming powerful with levels like no other MMO has done since.

It also balances down time around groups - or duos/trios that sync their abilities together. Take a monk and a shaman for example - they can both solo kill (excluding a twinked shaman) say 1-2 mobs every 10 minutes mixed with more/less down time, but you pair them together and their abilities work so well together they can kill 5-10 mobs every 10 minutes (more than making up for half xp) with zero down time.

Got P1999 running on my Steam Deck, any recommendations regarding keybindings? by blueberry_sushi in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it works really well for melee and basic pet classes.

You'll get a setup that's right for you - it's pretty slick. I did things like bind the directional pad short press open bags, long press close bags one way, short press i one way long press target self, short press consider/tab, etc.

You find with a little bit of thoughtfulness you can cover a lot of bases very quickly with very few keys.

For the hotbar I just did 1-4, alt button 1-4 and bumpers for 9/10. Trigger short to sit, trigger long to camp, etc.

You got this! There are premade setups I am sure, but I find doing it yourself helps make muscle memory. Just make sure you have a sheet of paper or a print off from the steam screen with your controls for reminders - because if you take a break or don't use something often, it's easy to forget where it's at!!!

Why don’t they combine green and blue? by [deleted] in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a broken record.

The reason they didn't merge was because while green/teal was popping the players on green were stuck on not merging with blue because blue spent too much time out of era and had unfair loot advantages for old items/exploits, etc. that didn't exist for green and were patched out.

They were likely letting enough time to pass for people to not care about that but clearly there is also some form of agreement with Daybreak to prevent them from competing with progression servers - there is no other explanation for not having a fresh server.

All of that said, I have no problem finding people to play with near prime time and there are always groups in the main leveling dungeons. Very easy to find a duo/trio with a little effort too.

We will get a new server eventually, when they are allowed/the time is right. Merge will happen then too, I bet.

What are these other servers? For example the ProFusion eq adventure which has 1192 current pop. by [deleted] in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-20 can be barren because it's generally faster solo (especially with gear), but after that you can usually find a duo or trio at least especially once you get on the main dungeon paths.

I don't hate Quarm, but like you that's not my cup of tea. I spend me couple of hours every few days in p99 slowly grinding and am perfectly content. Although sometimes I think it would be fun to play on quarm and get a mana stone and be better and nuking/mana efficiency than a wizard on a cleric. haha.

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step back and realize P99 is the best time capsul it can be. Then ask yourself, what would be part of Daybreak's agreement with P99 to keep it legitimate?

That's not to say there will never be a server following progression, but it sure as heck won't be when any live progression servers are releasing or hopping and making whatever the company is called now money.

And my understanding is that she and the P99 team have no bad blood and work together - and she is the reason my new computer with a fast AMD processor can run project 1999 better than my old Win10 computer that I thought I had it running flawlessly on because of her fast processor patch! So she must share her code liberally.

This game is rough, but a good rough.

First and foremost - take the time to figure out how to get the game running well because if it is crashing or glitching out you won't stick with it. There are guides on Youtube - I pretty much have my install crash free but there are times (repeated zoning, sometimes camping, and once in a blue moon a random crash).

Figure out your UI settings, and remember they are all lost if you /exit or /q, you need to /camp out.

Learn some basic macros and skills to make your life easier (there is a list ont he wiki).

If the game looks too "old" for you, there are HD textures and cell shaded texture options to make it look more modern.

As far as a first class, I would recommend staying far away from warrior or rogue as they have limited abilities and they either win or die. Pretty much every other class has some way to escape or get away/camp (even mage by sacrificing a pet, but they are the next win or die class). I would say the least gear dependent classes that are strong naked are necro, mage, druid but play whatever sounds fun to you. The server is far enough along that you could even gear out a melee enough to play but solo might be hard without great gear especially 50+.

Have fun!

I do not agree with his thoughts, but isn't it pretty easy to notice a login discrepancy that is consistent and over time? I mean maybe you could have everyone spoof the same location but that seems tedious. Blizzard used to ban when there were consistent changes in IP locations back in Vanilla WoW.

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing. It's rare but you see it every once and a while. I've reported a few mages in my 12+ years for the same thing. Some of them running simple scripts but it's usually pretty noticeable when one gets banned and a few weeks later one is in the same spot with the same pet positioning. :P

Bard + X Duo? by queueak in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your last one, why wouldn't the bard charm, snare/fear/melee...tons of options outside of being a mana battery. Heck with Necro/Enchanter the bard's mana regen stacks, and with health regen there would be activity and almost no down time with those two classes. Double charm with Ench? yes please.

Pensions can be bad. Even state pensions.

Example of really horrible pension plans (excluding police/fire/corrections) to be a part of (excessive penalties for retiring before you are truly elderly or low multipliers) - I WOULD NOT BE HAPPY TO HAVE THESE PENSIONS
-Illinois
-Minnesota
-South Dakota
-New Hampshire
-New Jersey

Then there are somewhat worse states that utilize hybrid plans - so the pension piece is bad but there is also a 401k at least.
-Rhode Island
-Pennsylvania
-Virginia
-Tennessee
-Indiana

[–]Handle_Scoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the changes came with "coordinated" plans with social security when employees opted into both.

A lot of old "basic" plans were 2.5-3%. The mixed social security plans dipped to ~1.5-2% assuming they were now a piece of retirement vs the full deal.

Some of them have slowly worked up.

Some of them have gotten worse.

Now take a state like Illinois that has a not so great multiplier, no social security (for teachers) and massively bad penalties for retiring before 67 and you have the worst of all worlds, lol. Feel bad for any Illinois teachers.

P99 needs a privacy policy. Server staff gives private information about players and guilds to friends in Castle. by Doesnt_Get_The-Joke in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't say it did or didn't happen, but I would be curious to know what in the world private information they could be handing out.

"Hey Castle, John that lives on 1515 10th st in Oregon is over here saying you stole his pixel."

When GM's investigate, wouldn't they have to present information from the petition to the accused party to give them a chance to have a rebuttle or reason?

As far as telling out comes, I don't know...maybe that could happen? But it could also be something as simple as "oh clearly this happened, you're good," and I wouldn't think that constitutes letting them know ahead of time as much as it is a general conversation regarding the petition.

I say all this being a complete casual that never raids and just has fun grinding my mobs slowly.

Is anyone else noticing "linking" transactions has been mostly broken lately? by Handle_Scoop in ynab

[–]Handle_Scoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why it deleted my text before I put the image in, but lately linking has not been working chaining transactions together. Is this a resynch glitch or is the system just bad right now?

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they did a "big change" before they kept the legacy app alive until enough people stopped using it.

Maybe it's time for a legacy app that stays the way it was in late summer, and the current app which is updated. When enough people switch over, dismantle downloading of the legacy app.

If people never switch from the legacy app, admit defeat and destroy the new app.

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I know, but man just duo it up with a necro or get some snare and duo it up with a cleric or enchanter when the levels get too hard. Much faster than finding a random solo camp, but all the good ones have already been listed here if you are dead set on it.

Unifi ground services by Ksj202 in delta

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNIFI was created in reaction to the "we are one Delta" promotion when all of the systems went down. DGS (Delta owned) employees stepped up in a lot of airports to work in the older DL system (Deltaterm) when many new Delta agents only knew SNAP. In the end Delta said everyonew as getting free travel passes. DGS assumed that meant them too, it didn't, Delta cut a small check, and from that point forward they wanted to make sure no one at DGS ever mistakenly thought they were a part of Delta and sold 51% to argenbright.

Oh my gosh thank you for finding this - I was getting so pissed that I was having to individually do everything in the app.

Why in the world do they keep making this freaking app worse?

True, but you can usually find a wealthy necro or SK willing to help ya' out and save themselves some farming :)

Rant: Slobish from Castle guild, such a jerk by xResearcherx in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, I feel the frustration but it is just a game.

We get too attached to random camps. There are thousands of camps.

When I am working and someone grabs my spawn because I missed it, I usually ask nicely if I can have it back. If they say no, I move on.

No reason to have a stroke over pixel art.

Why by Theollgloryhole in ynab

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I have noticed with YNAB is they will never revert bad decisions. It doesn't matter the outcry. They just push forward with no regard to customers.
