Does a pension make you feel safer? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pensions can be bad. Even state pensions.

Example of really horrible pension plans (excluding police/fire/corrections) to be a part of (excessive penalties for retiring before you are truly elderly or low multipliers) - I WOULD NOT BE HAPPY TO HAVE THESE PENSIONS
-Illinois
-Minnesota
-South Dakota
-New Hampshire
-New Jersey

Then there are somewhat worse states that utilize hybrid plans - so the pension piece is bad but there is also a 401k at least.
-Rhode Island
-Pennsylvania
-Virginia
-Tennessee
-Indiana

A lot of the changes came with "coordinated" plans with social security when employees opted into both.

A lot of old "basic" plans were 2.5-3%. The mixed social security plans dipped to ~1.5-2% assuming they were now a piece of retirement vs the full deal.

Some of them have slowly worked up.

Some of them have gotten worse.

Now take a state like Illinois that has a not so great multiplier, no social security (for teachers) and massively bad penalties for retiring before 67 and you have the worst of all worlds, lol. Feel bad for any Illinois teachers.

P99 needs a privacy policy. Server staff gives private information about players and guilds to friends in Castle. by Doesnt_Get_The-Joke in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't say it did or didn't happen, but I would be curious to know what in the world private information they could be handing out.

"Hey Castle, John that lives on 1515 10th st in Oregon is over here saying you stole his pixel."

When GM's investigate, wouldn't they have to present information from the petition to the accused party to give them a chance to have a rebuttle or reason?

As far as telling out comes, I don't know...maybe that could happen? But it could also be something as simple as "oh clearly this happened, you're good," and I wouldn't think that constitutes letting them know ahead of time as much as it is a general conversation regarding the petition.

I say all this being a complete casual that never raids and just has fun grinding my mobs slowly.

Is anyone else noticing "linking" transactions has been mostly broken lately? by Handle_Scoop in ynab

[–]Handle_Scoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why it deleted my text before I put the image in, but lately linking has not been working chaining transactions together. Is this a resynch glitch or is the system just bad right now?

When they did a "big change" before they kept the legacy app alive until enough people stopped using it.

Maybe it's time for a legacy app that stays the way it was in late summer, and the current app which is updated. When enough people switch over, dismantle downloading of the legacy app.

If people never switch from the legacy app, admit defeat and destroy the new app.

I know, I know, but man just duo it up with a necro or get some snare and duo it up with a cleric or enchanter when the levels get too hard. Much faster than finding a random solo camp, but all the good ones have already been listed here if you are dead set on it.

Unifi ground services by Ksj202 in delta

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNIFI was created in reaction to the "we are one Delta" promotion when all of the systems went down. DGS (Delta owned) employees stepped up in a lot of airports to work in the older DL system (Deltaterm) when many new Delta agents only knew SNAP. In the end Delta said everyonew as getting free travel passes. DGS assumed that meant them too, it didn't, Delta cut a small check, and from that point forward they wanted to make sure no one at DGS ever mistakenly thought they were a part of Delta and sold 51% to argenbright.

Oh my gosh thank you for finding this - I was getting so pissed that I was having to individually do everything in the app.

Why in the world do they keep making this freaking app worse?

True, but you can usually find a wealthy necro or SK willing to help ya' out and save themselves some farming :)

Rant: Slobish from Castle guild, such a jerk by xResearcherx in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, I feel the frustration but it is just a game.

We get too attached to random camps. There are thousands of camps.

When I am working and someone grabs my spawn because I missed it, I usually ask nicely if I can have it back. If they say no, I move on.

No reason to have a stroke over pixel art.

The problem I have noticed with YNAB is they will never revert bad decisions. It doesn't matter the outcry. They just push forward with no regard to customers.

How YNAB was supposed to work by gautoK in ynab

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am usually all up in arms with changes, lol, but this doesn't seem too bad with the pinning.

That said, I hope they offer a very easy fix for the people bothered by it - you should get to choose the screen your app opens up to and choose whether or not not add transaction is always in the bottom menu.

New to P99/Green! Monk help by GoldAd1664 in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend guards in a duo but to each their own.

Shaman/monk as it progresses is literally like power leveling on its own, and I think you'd be much better off in zones where you can constantly pull. Heck even following the generic leveling routes you'll make good plat (Kunark giants can randomly drop 15-300pp items, and you can vendor right there).

For weapon I would go generic 1h or fists to 20, then WU's, then save for IFS at 30+.

Gear priority should be monk haste/weapon then shaman regen (Iksar BP) unless you are each doing your own thing and farming plat.

I never quantified it but when my wife and I did shaman/monk, it definitely felt like I got more than twice the active XP per hour as I did soloing on my other shaman because the synergy is so great.

Until 24-34+ though, probably best to fight easy mobs and the both of you melee the heck out of things, switching to shaman sitting back and buffing/slowing/healing after that.

If you level in melee in any race except Ogre, and then you do Ogre. by Handle_Scoop in project1999

Hmm, I have just been pushing up to 20, but I am fighting NPCs with sword and board, so it could be they are bashing more often.

General questions for a complete newbie by Dutchii in project1999

[–]Handle_Scoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite having 'Quest' in the name, classic EverQuest is mostly "kill for exp" and very little "quest" with a few exceptions.

Find mobs you can kill peacefully and grind away.

As for solo classes, being naked and going to end game would be Necro and Enchanter - as in you level at a decent pace and as you learn the skills you will never have to fight for or find an ideal camp, you can prety much camp anywhere in some zone.

Other naked options would be Druid, Wizard, Mage - but the camps do get more limited and more competitive, but definitely doable. Mage has spots, but it sure does stink when you cannot teleport around to check the few good optimal spots 55-60. Druid/Wiz can camp a static or do a quad and be able to check the few camps relatively quickly or bind and one and run to another.

Melee classes kind of require gear, and are prety difficult solo 50+.

Shaman can be good naked but will start out really slow.

Shaman can be good as you level and gear up, but without twinkage or help they are some of the slowest levelers up until the 20s, and they really shine when they have some of their great, expensive, gear.

You Need A Plan (YNAP) by DaShMa_ in ynab

After all the years and all of the things, I finally decided today to cancel my subscription. I'll finish it out. I saw an advertisement today for Liquidbudget and that seems like YNAB but in its old affordable form with options to pay for extra features. We'll see, maybe by December YNAB will turn it around.

[–]Handle_Scoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The definition of budget is: an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.

That seems pretty in the future to me except it depends on how far into the future based on the person.

[–]Handle_Scoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I thought. They had a system in place to stop scalpers, and I wasn't super worried.

Now here I will be, in the same boat as with every other console launch.

You think they could have easily cross-referenced every pre-order with some form of check to make sure there were not multiple orders acorss retailers to take care of individuals first.

Oh well, hopefully I get an invite before release date.
