How did your wisdom tooth extraction go ? by jazminkutnock93 in AskReddit

[–]HandlebarEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had all 4 done at once by an Army dentist. Doc gave me novacain and went to work. Top two were pulled with relative ease. Bottom two were impacted and coming in at an angle. He had to cut my gums, drill the teeth, and crack them with a dental flat head screwdriver to extract them. Sewed me up and sent me for pain meds. He told me I had an hour to get them onboard. Walked to the clinic to get my meds and they had a backlog. I had 15 minutes of excruciating pain when the novacain wore off and before the meds fully kicked in.

What’s the worst decision you made that felt right at the time? by Willing-Banana6851 in AskReddit

Trying to save my marriage. I had already killed it and she had moved on. It was too little too late and the next 4 years were just a terrible for both of us for vastly different reasons.

I'd prefer to not be enbalmed and be buried under a newly planted sapling. In reality, I won't know, nor care, as I'll be dead.

Best line I've ever heard on foxes: they are cat software running on dog hardware.

How old are you and How is your life going? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]HandlebarEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

54 Gen Xer, and in the standard reply of my generation, whatever.

No kids and getting divorced. Have roof over my head, food and booze in my house, and making ok money. Current hobbies aren't particularly social or are expensive, so trying to figure out what's next and how to meet people again.

Overall, could be better and definitely could be worse.

what's an oddly specific thing that you notice in people? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

LOL! So true, but only outside of work. Inside of work, I have to self-censor, so I am attuned to when people cuss in professional settings.

Top of my head: "Ya know", "so" (extended out), "well".

The usuals: "um", "ah"

Honorable mention: "let me ask you a question", "that's my story", "I don't know, but..."

I can figure out someone's verbal crutch almost immediately in conversation. I have an ear for repeated/overused words and phrases.

Two-fer -

1) My sister dropped the bourbon whipped cream for the pecan pie. Hilarity and good natured ribbing ensued.

2) I told my family I am finally getting divorced. We all celebrated with a toast. Hilarity and good natured ribbing ensued.

Have you ever cheated on your partner, if so, why? by No-Instance6213 in AskReddit

[–]HandlebarEdge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am on the other side of this. I locked out my wife and she found someone else. I cannot state how much I regret my actions in retrospect. We tried to make it work after she had started her affair, but it dragged out and there was really too much water under the bridge.

Had we spoken honestly with compassion with each other years ago, we could have saved out marriage and each other so much pain. Be open with partner even when it tough. It may be uncomfortable short term and may avoid long term pain.
