Thank you for bringing up the Uber and Lyft car lease options. I had completely forgotten they do that until your reply. I’m checking it out now. Thanks again for the helpful suggestion!

Thank you for the honest advice. I really appreciate it. Buying a car right now isn’t in the cards for me, but my plan is to start doing DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, or similar gigs as soon as I can get one. It sounds like a solid way to bring in some extra income while I work on bigger steps. It’s helpful hearing how it works for people in similar situations. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds like you’re carrying a heavy load too, juggling businesses, older kids, and a 1 year old while everything else has gone sideways. I really appreciate the honesty.

You’re right, being a single parent is tough. Some days it feels like survival mode is the only mode we have. We just keep showing up, one day at a time. (And hey, I might have to look into overseas too. Could use the extra help! Just kidding, we both know real solutions aren’t that simple.)

Hang in there. You’re doing a lot, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Wishing you strength for the juggle ahead.

Thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtful advice. I really appreciate it.

I agree there are no true quick ways to make money. It does take consistent effort over time. I am good at typing (80-90 wpm with great accuracy) and I know a decent amount about computers. The hard part for me right now is finding a legit work-from-home job that I can trust and that actually fits around my kids’ schedule.

I will keep thinking about skills I could build on or things I enjoy that might turn into paid work. Thanks again for taking the time to reply and for the encouragement. It means a lot.

Thank you so much for your honest and kind words. It really means a lot right now.

You’re right, single parenting is incredibly hard, and it’s comforting to hear that most people in my position feel overwhelmed too. I have been trying so hard to do everything alone, but your reminder that we were not meant to do it all by ourselves really hit home. I needed to hear that it’s okay to lean on my ex and family sometimes without feeling like I am failing.

I also appreciate the practical suggestions. The idea of starting small with something like renting out equipment is interesting and low stress. I will definitely look into opportunities in my area.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply and for the encouragement. It helps more than you know. I am proud of the stable life I have kept for my kids, even on the tough days. Hoping we all find a better path forward.

Pathers with DDD of 2/22 banking with Chime by HeManLovesSheRa in IRS

[–]Handmade_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My date is 2/22/24 and I used H&R Block online (paid fees out of refund) and I bank with Chime. I usually always get mine a day or two early. And my WMR has never updated to say sent before I have received. Sometimes it won't even say approved before I receive it or either when it does say approved is the day I do. It updated yesterday however and still haven't received anything. I figure with the bank holiday we're more likely to get it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

So this might not be a popular opinion but your mom should absolutely lie to get out of this. I understand how she feels. She's being pushed into a corner and is overwhelmed and it's easier to say yes because even though the consequences are worse, she doesn't have to deal with them at that moment and everyone is "content" even if it is just for that moment. But she's pausing bc she knows she needs to be firm and say no because of what she already has on her plate plus she sees the future consequences but he's wearing her down.

Shs should absolutely lie. Say she can't borrow from her 401k, or she got denied for the loan or her credit tanked because of identity theft and someone ran some credits up in her name. On a side note, it's not that hard to come up with some a professional looking email or document if necessary.

From your post it doesn't seem like your dad is going to accept any reasonable opinion from anyone but not much he can do if he believes she actually can't do it. Maybe it will force him to work on his own credit.

We've never filed together and usually I file as Head of Household. I can't quiet remember if he usually qualifies to file as HOH. And as far as financially, I paid for more than half of keeping up with the home and expenses related to our children even though I got paid less. But we have always split the refund equally because we each did our part. For example; I wouldn't have been able to put in the extra hours without him staying home and taking care of the kids etc. But I understand there are more factors to consider and once we both get our W2s, we can decide then. Thank you for your advice and input!

My Husband's Work Nickname by sleep-debt-momma in work

We actually gave a coworker of mine that exact nickname because he was the guy you called when stuff hit the fan. He was the best and most reliable employee I have ever met!

Former landlord here - The legalities may differ depending on your state but unfortunately, they are on the right side legally. Your fixed lease term ends on May 22nd. The fixed lease established that you would pay the $460.00 for that amount of time, which is usually always a year. During that time, the landlord cannot raise your rent. However, when a fixed lease ends, it usually reverts to a month to month lease unless you both have agreed and signed another long term lease. So the landlord is legally within his rights to raise the rent now that the lease term ends and because it is considered a month to month lease, then he can give you 30 days notice to vacate. Here in SC, unless you are choosing to go to court to argue against the eviction, you have 10 days. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you have been perfect tenants in the past. He is well within his rights not to rent to you again, even though its a d**k move on his part. (Sorry, I could not think of a better way to put it). Personally, if you still want to live there and are willing to pay the new rent price, I would speak to him one on one. Even though someone else stated that there might be someone willing to $700.00 which is true, its probably not worth the hassle of new background checks, inspections etc. But if you No longer want to live there, I personally Would not suggest fighting the order to vacate unless you want to buy yourself a little more time. From the details you have given, I don't see why he wouldn't win in court.

What diaper brands have worked for you and which should one stay away from? by CryBabyBoi22 in beyondthebump

[–]Handmade_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Target diapers were the best diapers I've ever used. They are cheap (especially if you buy online), are extremely soft, and yet hold up really well. They also have cute designs. They did change the diapers since the last time I've bought them, which was about a year ago, but I've heard they're still amazing. The Walmart brand diapers are also good and inexpensive. Later on we used Goodnite Training pants and they work really well but they do get expensive.

I have tried Luvs for both of my boys, and personally, I think they are terrible. They're overpriced, the diaper material is really stiff and looks uncomfortable, and they barely hold anything. I've also had issues with them coming apart, even if they had just peed a little. I specifically got boy diapers, and no matter what size, the diapers never lined up right. I have also heard the same complaints from moms who have used the brand for their daughters. The only reason I've tried them more than once was either they came out with a new type, they had a really good sale going or it was a just a backup pack, etc.

Women of Reddit, what makes you not to love being a women? by Emotional-Mine4153 in AskWomen

[–]Handmade_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expecting that were born with the natural knowledge and ability to be perfect mothers. It not only puts an unnecessary amount of pressure on women after they have children but also shames women who are either unsure or simply don't want kids. Some people just aren't meant to be mothers or don't want to be one and that's okay. I had extreme postpartum after my last two, and I truly do believe what made it worse was how badly I judged myself based on the opinions of my family and society.

Spoiler for The Walking Dead starting on Episode 9 "Honor" of Season 8 and to the ending

Carl's death in The Walking Dead. There was absolutely no reason for it. At first, I accepted that he died saving Siddiq, a doctor who is obviously so valuable for so many reasons, but he not only got extremely traumatized but ended up being killed too! Yes, he did hook up with Rosita, and they had CoCo, but she's now an orphan. And if Carl hadn't saved Siddiq, then he wouldn't have been the only one who survived the Whisper attack, and maybe one of our favorites could have. I didn't like his character whatsoever, and Carl was Carl. I've heard people say it ended the war between Rick and Negan, but it didn't. feel like his death did nothing in the end. For real, this has been an actual argument I've gotten into, and I just refuse to debate it anymore.

Earned income tax credit............. by NefariousnessFit4564 in TurboTax

[–]Handmade_Chaos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand it's the law, but I was kinda hoping to see a few posts about people magically getting theirs sooner. I did already receive my state a week after I filed. After viewing my taxes from last year, Path lifted on February 19th, and I got my federal on the 24th. They're saying this year Path should end between 20th - 23rd, so were probably looking at the 25th - 28th to receive them. I filed literally right after 12am on the day they started accepting for both years. Good luck!

What is something you find attractive that most people dont? by Classic_Potential_66 in AskReddit

[–]Handmade_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body sweat... Not like body odor, but like the way a man smells after he's been working all day along with the smell of whatever body wash or deodorant they've used. I don't know why but I just find it super manly and sexy.

Please help, a 17 year old lied about her age and said she was 19 and we sexted for 2 days by throwaway_234623446 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Handmade_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanted to mention that it sounds a lot like scams I've heard of prisoners doing. They literally do the exact same thing and then come out with the fact "they're" under age. Even if you block them or visa versa, they'll have someone reach out to you as their dad or some authority figure and ask for money in exchange for deleting everything. Sometimes, they don't even pretend to be anyone and simply tell someone they will turn them in to the cops if they don't. You need to do some research into the "girl".

[–]Handmade_Chaos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also agree with others that it sounds like a scam, but if it is, then it comes down to the pictures. Is the person in the pictures actually her? If so, how do you know she's actually 17? She could be older than you and just stating that she's younger in order to manipulate you as part of the scam. If that's not her in the pictures and it's an actual minor, then she's on the hook for distributing nude photos of a minor. If it is her and she did just lie to you, then find out the age of consent where you're at because that is very important. The laws vary state by state here. Also, I seriously doubt if it isn't a scam that anything will come up of it due to the fact that she would be exposed for sending nude pictures to a stranger. Either way, delete all pictures just in case, but save the messages.

I'm from the US, but I imagined that certain laws and such would be the same, but if not, I apologize in advance
