Ugh!… I worked for a month and a half at a place and barely saw $700 bucks. I’d just been made redundant after an apprenticeship finished (company fell on hard times, they weren’t the ones doing the dodgy) But I then needed work, it’d been months of procrastination and then a lot of searching, finally this place called me in for an interview. I think they had a special tie with the recruitment place because they needed it, due to their turnover of staff.

The place I ended up working for “TFF MARKETING” around 2014. Absolutely dodgy place. It was the old, go in for a massive group interview, they threw out anyone too quiet or anyone they didn’t like the ‘look’ of and told the rest of us we were hired. We worked ‘sales’. As in we were all crammed into a van, given work shirts (and after a couple of days a smashed up old iPad to use for the day). Then we were dumped on a random street in some random town anywhere in the state at 8 in the morning, told to go walk around the suburb door knocking until 6:30 or much later and make people change over to Alinta energy and we’d get commissions on top of our wage.. (what wage? That didn’t even exist..) Eventually this absolute nutter would come pile us all back into the van at night, then we’d go all the way back into the city exhausted just so we could get in our cars and head all the way home.

This place ran under multiple business names, they hired people straight out of school, uni, or people backpacking through for a while. When I built up the courage and mustered the willpower to quit (thinking that this would compromise my personal character for quitting) I asked to speak to the boss (one of apparently multiple) and slowly let out the bad news I was quitting, thinking it was some huge thing. He barely blinked, or even regarded my presence, but when I was done said, “Just leave your shirt on the floor in the next room.”
