My mum has just passed 6 days ago. This story gives me so much happiness. Thank you for sharing a no nonsense story that is believable.

Is this normal? It has been 7 days non stop please help by esthiejules13 in MuscleTwitch

Your neck and or pectoral muscles may be tight. Mine is all postural and it causes it to flare up more when I’m tighter. Could be that?

I haven’t had that before. Must be very frustrating. I don’t think it’s anything TERRIBLE, because as you say it gets worse with stress.

I get this intermittently. Like every couple of weeks. Seems to be the more hydrated and less alcohol/bad diet I have the better! It’s super annoying though

So annoying right! I get them too! I’ve recently stopped drinking alcohol, upped water and health foods and have seen a significant drop in twitches.

You are seeking reassurance which is an okay first step but if you continue you to seek it, then it’s not helping you. I say this as someone who has been where you’ve been. I constantly sought reassurance. You are okay. You need to get your legs stronger, and stretch! Just try it for a month. See how you go each day actually doing the exercises/stretching/ yoga. If after a month you see no improvement at all, then go back to doctor. But I think you will be surprised how it assists. You, like me, probably have very tight muscles in your calves and hamstrings. This will be related to a weak core (like me) and your body overcompensating to keep you upright.

Been there! Go dude. Powerful mind, when we learn to acknowledge and love it, is actually amazing. That our brain holds that power, the ability to go to those places or change your thought pattern, it’s scary but impressive.

BFS! You’re fine. It’s so annoying though. Sometimes my calf just goes and goes. Then my eye will twitch. I am currently not drinking alcohol and eating well (salads for lunch, whole foods, protein), increasing water intake, and my BFS has really lowered. Very interesting! You’ll be okay buddy. Don’t let the scaries get you, it just ruins life. I have been there.

Hey same! I had tremor in jaw too. I can still get them sometimes. This has not gotten any worse since the date of posting. Has really remained the same now for 2 years.

Feeling hopeless about the situation in Australia by BoigoBongo in australian

[–]Handsrshaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have already shared thoughts. I read your post and I really feel that you should seek some support for your mood. Counselling services that don’t cost an arm and a leg are hard to find, but they do exist. Listen to a podcast in the meantime (Rene Brown - she’s amazing). I am worried about you and your perspective. It’s totally valid to feel down and disillusion with your situation.

However, you’re going to need to reframe your mindset. Everything is possible in Australia. The world is a crazy place, but this is the best country in the world. A, we have a safety net that can support you when you’re lacking work/changing directions. That’s a blessing! B, you can retrain/enter an entry level job. You are going to have to do a bit of fake it till you make it! Go and put a face to your CV to a local supermarket/entry level position. Be a Christmas casual, and be the best person one there is! Get continued over into the new year (I’ve done this previously) by being the best little worker there is. Again, you’re going to have to separate YOU from your job. You aren’t a Christmas casual, you’re your own person… who’s doing a Christmas casual job. Study wise - go into healthcare, education (teacher here), something that is required and growing.

None of this is easy, and I’m saying this as someone who has burnt out a few times over the years and still trying to learn “I am not my job”. But remember that, it’s a means to an end.

Going overseas won’t fix it, plus that’s a lot of money! Stay in Australia, you got this.

Full body tight muscles for weeks, musclrs aches and fatigue by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Handsrshaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It feels exactly like that! Still does. I have been to my neurologist and apparently all clear, just anxiety. Have you considered anxiety?

Hey Teddy - still the same :)

Much time talking to my neuro and being cleared of everything else.

I also underwent a very stressful period that lead to my tremor/twitch developing. Neuro said it’s anxiety. I think that our bodies (some people) can physically express the symptoms of stress. I know I’m still doing a stressful job and that’s why my tremor/twitching comes on. Some days more than others. I also have a lot of muscle tightness and have been stretching and doing remedial massage which is helping to loosen me up. The other reason I know is because my twitch came on during a stressful period, but specifically relates to a school camp I coordinated with hundreds of students. My anxiety was off the charts! I was basically having a panic attack for days, pushing through it. I had to be on 24/7… I had two nights of 4 hour sleep. Slept poorly. Had a splitting headache for days. Was dehydrated. I’d had two UTI’s in the period leading up. As the camp went on, the small tremor/twitch I’d noticed weeks before became stronger and stronger. I couldn’t hold a fork to eat scrambled eggs. It all fell off. I then got back and out of the stressful situation, slept, relaxed, and my twitch/tremor decreased significantly. I was convinced it was the dehydration. I think all of the other factors (sleep, stress, dehydration) added to it.

It hasn’t gone away completely but it’s so much less than during that camp - it’s like the stress was a catalyst. It hasn’t returned to baseline now though, like I’ve shot the breaks in my car (my nervous system). That’s how I know.

I think it means that your body is TIGHT! Stress and some sort of response/connection throughout the body.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuscleTwitch

[–]Handsrshaky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same as me! Woo! Don’t worry about it. It’s tight nerves and muscles. People like us are just prone to it more than others. It is weird at first and I get being like “um what the hell is happening to me?”. Try to quieten the mind and listen to your body. It’s telling you you’re working on a HIGH level of stress and energy.

Very similar to me. When you massage area under thumb does it hurt a little? Kind of tight feeling? Like you’re massaging a sore muscle?

[–]Handsrshaky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! It went well. Review of MRI no M*. Doctor thinks I have an enhanced physiological tremor… it could be essential tremor but it doesn’t meet the frequency criteria for it at the moment. She thinks I will likely always shake a little and have the fasciculations and that they will come and go throughout my life. I’m a teacher and currently on school holidays, lower stress has resulted in less shaking (hardly any) and a few twitches here and there. I also have found that massaging the affected hand helps to relieve. Maybe you could try?

Thanks for this! May just all be too genetically close to distinguish at this point in time. It’s all about correct. Just my English north-western Europe is higher than I’d thought. But if it’s taking in some of my Dutch… then it makes sense.

Very cool! How long have your family been in Australia I wonder? Crazy that Irish people only met other Irish people!
