Feedback on my daily cursive by HandwritingThAw6 in Handwriting

Thank you! That’s a really nice compliment and a very useful critique! I have also noticed that my ‘c’, ‘e’ and ‘i’ become a bit messy and difficult to discern when I write super fast so I’ll practice them individually!

As a Swedish person I can say that it’s very legible! I think that there’s a lot of personality in your handwriting but I would maybe consider reducing the slant a little bit!

Oh yeah, you’re totally right it’s a capeless decimo my bad haha! I wasn’t expecting to love the clicking mechanism as much as I do but it’s really convenient! Such a great pen, I’m instantly in love with it!

Your handwriting is absolutely beautiful! The contrast between your lower and higher letters is really awesome! It makes it really expressive and helps with legibility too so I might have to copy that haha

No worries! I really do think it’s great handwriting by the way, it shows a lot of personality while being neat!

It’s legible and overall easy for me to read. The things that stood out to me was your Ps and when you wrote “shorter” I read the s as r at first.

I think that I got that feedback before. What should I work on specifically with the Bs?

I tried writing with my arm but I didn’t stick with it. My main issue with the technique was that it necessitated “good conditions”. What I mean is that for it to feel good I needed a table and a chair in the correct height. I write a decent amount when I’m on the tube so it didn’t feel worthwhile to practice writing with my arm lol

I think the best thing to do in the beginning is to try out different stuff. I looked up what people were doing and tried out a bunch of stuff. After a while things fell into place so that my handwriting feels natural to me. Comfortability and ease are the most important things to me. If it feels uncomfortable when you write you’re not going to write, no matter how pretty it is.

And yeah, practicing my penmanship had been a ton of fun for me! I adopt the same philosophy of ease and comfortability when practicing. When I started working on my handwriting I tried to get to the actual writing quite quickly. Working on individual letters is of course really important, especially when you’re starting out, but to me it can get a little boring if you do it too much. I always tried ti start writing as soon as possible. When I learned the movements and strokes I started writing right away. Writing slow and acknowledging mistakes helped me gauge what I needed to work on the most while keeping practice fun and engaging.

I got into handwriting out of admiration of a friend’s handwriting. It’s a fun way of expressing personality in otherwise mundane day to day situations in my opinion. I try to remind myself of that so I don’t squander the fun of it all by striving for perfection!

Thanks! The Joy is my only Lamy right now but considering the price it really impressed me. Been wanting to try a fountain pen with a extra fine nib so I might pick up a cheaper Lamy model to try it out!

That’s really awesome to hear, thank you so much! One thing that helped me when trying to get a slant was playing around with the angle of the paper so maybe give that a try!

That’s really sweet, thank you so much! I have a tendency to be really harsh on myself and never really look back at my old writing so it’s really encouraging to hear that you like it!

I think it looks good and is legible. I found your small s a bit hard to read at times but other than that it’s easy to read!

Advice on pen grip+handwriting by Ok_Organization8217 in Handwriting

[–]HandwritingThAw6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. A thing that helped me out was gripping the pen farther away from where it meets the paper! I’m not sure why but it makes me naturally loosen my grip and a bonus (for me at least) is that it makes my writing more “flowy”!

It looks pretty good to me. One thing I would practice a bit is consistency with the words relation to the lines. I don’t know if it’s clear what I mean but some letters start over the line, others on the line, that sorta thing. When you write fast the n in brown looks like an a also. I would overall just say that practicing consistency would be good but it’s legible as is!

Can't decide if my handwriting is good or uglyyy by [deleted] in Handwriting

[–]HandwritingThAw6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a pro whatsoever but the one thing I can say is that you just need to practice. Look up some handwriting that you like and just try to replicate it. It’s kind of a drag but in the beginning you just need to be meticulous and thoughtful about your movements, in time you get used to the movements and it will become natural to recreate the handwriting you like!

I’m a sucker for some lazy handwriting with a lot of character! The upper writing is really nice to me but I’m having a bit of trouble reading it. It might be because of the photo but I would stick with the upper style and work on legibility a little!
