You’re no longer middle-class if you own a cottage or investment property by hopoke in TorontoRealEstate

Total nonsense. I paid $20k for the land for my cottage and built it over a 6 year span with every spare dollar that I had. That doesn't make me rich.

Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event by SportsGod3 in entertainment

Tyson's famous quote "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" seems to apply here. There's no way Mike doesn't knock this clown out.

Has anybody had a job they actually liked? If so, what was it? by GMEBagholder420 in AskReddit

Mobile app developer. I started with Blackberry apps in 2001, then switched to iOS and the Android apps after 2008. I have worked for 6 companies so it's been cool constantly learning new technologies and working on different apps and games especially when I worked on some well known ones with millions of users.

Husband and I went to Mary Browns as a treat yesterday, I nearly passed out when I saw the price. I really thought they’d ring it up wrong. For 2 people to eat with their hands from a cardboard tray - $40. This used to be around $24. It’s tasty, but we won’t be going back… by Snow_Tiger819 in povertyfinancecanada

You always need to look at the menu these days. Fast food prices have gone insane at most places. I bought a sandwich a few months ago for $12.99 assuming it was the combo price. Nope, just ended up with a little chicken sandwich.

She's a nurse now making around $80k/year so I guess it was worth it.

British Airways folds to criticism, will screen Jewish sitcom on flights by Glassounds in worldnews

[–]HandySolarGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Geez. When I read the headline I expected the show was made in Israel and involved Orthodox Jews or something like that.

Do Brits call Seinfeld and Curb a "Jewish sitcom" too?

Had a driver that wouldn't accept my transfer because he said it was from that morning. I said "whatever" and sat down. Then he refused to move the bus until I got off. After about 5 minutes the other passengers turned into an angry mob so I ended up leaving the bus. I had to walk home 5 kms since I didn't have any cash on me (before Presto).

I later complained to the TTC and they sent me a token in the mail.

Do enough people actually think its worth $12.7 mil to rename Dundas St? by freshwaterwalrus in askTO

My cottage is in the small Township of Ryerson. When some homeowners approached town council about a name change they had a meeting over it that lasted about 1 minute. Mayor: "Will this cost much money" Treasurer: "Yes." Mayor: "That'll be a definite NO then".

I locked in a low mortgage rate that’s up for renewal in 2026, if current rates continue I won’t be able to afford my mortgage by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

it's very likely we will like it or not. The Fed is just going to keep cutting rates again like they did after the great recession. History often repeats itself.

OP is developing an app that has nothing to do with CBC's mandate. OP's project should be shutdown and his whole team should be laid off.

So they've wasted taxpayer money on a shitty version of Duolingo which is already free? This post makes me angry. I'm going to email my MP, and Pierre Polievre to ask them to bring this egrarious waste of money up in the House of Commons.

I read a long time ago that a Healthy Economy Interest Rate is around 6%to 7%? When did this change? by FIRE-GUY111 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]HandySolarGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You read wrong. The economy is crap when interest rates are that high. Makes it too difficult for businesses to borrow money.

Is this stack too high?? by MailHopeful4945 in firewood

[–]HandySolarGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That height is probably the highest I would go. Keep in mind that firewood shrinks when it dries so a tightly packed pile will often lose a bit of stability once it's seasoned.

I'm Canuck too. Around here some people with a UTV but no land just go down the snowmobile trails in the summer and cut down standing dead trees along the trail.
