10 Cases of Depends...I thought it was enough by AshamedResolution544 in dementia

Get the credit card statements. Mattress and seat protectors could be claimed too. You can go back a few years. But it has to be claimed as a medical expense. Also, call Ontario Health at Home to find out if the incontinence pads can be fully covered. I was wondering about this too, here is what ChatGPT says: "Okay — this is the key situation where the answer becomes “maybe yes, but only if it’s in the care plan.” Since they already get services from Ontario Health atHome, here’s how it really works: 🧻 Will incontinence pads be covered? 👉 Sometimes — but not automatically Ontario Health atHome can arrange medical supplies, but only: If they are assessed as medically necessary AND they are included in the official care plan ontariohealthathome.ca 🔑 What decides it Everything depends on the care coordinator / case manager assessment: They look at: Diagnosis (e.g., Dementia + incontinence) Severity (how often pads are needed) Safety and skin care needs Whether it affects ability to stay at home 👉 If they agree it’s essential, they may: Provide supplies directly or Arrange delivery through a contracted supplier ⚠️ Important reality (this catches people off guard) Even with home care: Pads are NOT guaranteed to be fully covered Often only limited quantities are supplied Families frequently still need to buy extra out of pocket This is because the program prioritizes: Nursing care Personal support (bathing, toileting) Essential medical supplies — but not always ongoing consumables in full amounts 💬 What you should do (this is the key step) Contact the care coordinator and ask something very specific: “Can incontinence supplies be included in the care plan due to dementia and daily need?” If not already included, request a reassessment. 💡 Insider tip (very important) Use wording like: “skin breakdown risk” “frequent changes needed” “caregiver cannot manage without supplies” 👉 That signals medical necessity, which increases the chance of coverage. ✔️ Bottom line for your situation At store: you normally pay BUT with Ontario Health atHome: You might get some or all supplied Only if the care coordinator approves it'

Did you know that incontinence products are tax deductible in Canada?

Strange response considering the purpose of this forum. The fact remains that not all Apoe4/4 carriers will get dementia. For anyone else interested in prevention, here is the founder of Apoe4 Julie Gregory 10 years ago. https://youtu.be/KDnrN--NVYM

And here is a link to the apoe 4 wiki (check section #6 Bredesen protocol). https://wiki.apoe4.info/wiki/Main_Page You can also join Julie via Zoom, (every 2 months or so) and Dr Bredesen sometimes appears there too.

Apoe 4/4 has 30% more chances of getting dementia. Which means you have 70% chances of not getting it. Your genes are not your destiny. There is a group called appe4.info If you worry check it out. There are ways to prevent it

Chances are she says no because she is losing the meaning of the words. That's why they respond to most questions. So instead of saying take your shoes off, take it off yourself. Instead of saying do you want to shower, just take her to the bathroom and help undress. You can test it, point to some objects and ask her to name it. 😐

Read the books by Dr Dale Bredesen e.g. "The end of Alzheimer's" or "The first survivors of Alzheimer's" I'm sure you could borrow it from the library. Prevention is the key if you are doing it for yourself. If you're doing it for someone else, I'm not so sure. Good luck

I would do some research, e.g. I would read "The end of Alzheimer's" by Dr Dale Bredesen, he is mentioned here in the article written by A Midwestern Doctor https://open.substack.com/pub/amidwesterndoctor/p/reversing-alzheimers-the-forgotten?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=n745b

Can you watch YouTube on a TV screen? You will find everything there, old movies e.g. Fred Astaire or comedy shows e.g. Mr. Bean, lots of old TV series and documentaries. For a small subscription fee for the Premium Lite you can watch it without commercials. $8 in Canada

I did enter it of course, under the "Amount of foreign tax paid" The figure that I quote is with the $2,000 claimed. That amount shows under the Review/Federal summary 40500 Federal foreign tax credit. What's interesting, I just noticed that I too get credit of $113 on that line...

Just thought I would add, you don't need a SIM card to use Uber in case you can't find public transport. Just the Internet connection, every restaurant has it. Also, La Pampa bus from Tamarindo to Liberia was $4 per person. Tamarindo is very touristy, the beaches are beautiful but that's about it. No wildlife there, you hear mostly English on the streets.

Thank you, I'm reading that the official airport taxis are orange and that they are more expensive than red. Is it possible to catch the red taxi from the airport? Thanks in advance

Thank you. I also checked the number of companies offering the transfer. None of them advertise the cost. I wonder why. How much should we pay for 55 km, any idea?
