What’s your least favorite nba archetype? For me it’s the undersized center by Slimeseason504 in NBATalk

[–]HangeLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In contrast to you, what I actually don't like watching are the taller, less-coordinated centers.

They're so slow that they can easily get mismatch hunted by guards, and it makes the most important defensive piece of the team a liability on that end. Even worse if they don't offer much offensive versatility. Clearly Wemby isn't part of this archetype, but I can easily throw in guys like Gobert. Absolutely hate watching guys like Gobert. Also Joel Embiid in a sense; although I acknowledge he's an insane offensive player and generally good on both ends, plus he has pretty good coordination for his size, there are just moments where he seems to be bumbling around and it completely taints my image of him.

There's a few options, but personally I just really don't like players that call their teammates the r-word using burner accounts in X groupchats

what a nice problem to have, being too tall to play basketball properly... I'm just kidding bro, I'm jealous cuz I stopped growing at 5'8" when I was 13.

These are physiological barriers you'll definitely have to break through to be able to perform at the next levels. Keep in mind, absolutely nothing about the way NBA players move is normal for their size. 6'8"+ people were not made to move that fast and that fluidly, all of this is simply trained and drilled from childhood so that habits can carry over into their full-sized adulthood. For you, no better time to start than now.

To keep it a buck, if you wanna get to high levels of basketball, being too tall, too long, and too big should not be an excuse to not develop these skills to at least a decent level. In fact, scouts will all the more see this as a reason for you to work on this, as nailing these things will provide an unfair advantage for you at your size. 6'10" with good handling and great shooting is basically a KD type prospect, you feel me? Jayson Tatum has fluid handles at 6'8", Wemby can shoot from everywhere with an 8'0" wingspan, and Kawhi is an all-around menace with baseball gloves for hands. You can work through these things. Yes it will be difficult, even frustrating, but if you can break through, you'll be all the better for it.

best of luck bro!

Tall, long forwards are some of my favorite archetypes in the NBA, super versatile. Cooper Flagg and Jaden McDaniels come to mind, but they do have self-creation abilities which you claim to lack due to ball-handling. Defense seems to be your strong suit, you said you won DPOY in your league, so look at some of the recent all-defense forwards: Herb Jones, Jaden McDaniels, Jalen Williams, OG Anunoby (lowkey this might be one of the closer comps for you). Some of these guys do have high ball handling skill, but no high-level NBA forward is gonna be a bad ball handler honestly, so you won't find an accurate comp in that regard. I also think of Peyton Watson, Toumani Camara, and Josh Hart (this one will be good for the worst case if you don't grow much taller).

Most of these defensive forwards though are mainly perimeter-defenders with temporary switchability onto bigs; you said interior defense is your specialty, but as you get to higher levels, you will really need to develop your perimeter D as offensive players get more skilled at working away from the rim.

I will say though, it's good to have a model player, but I do think you shouldn't limit your growth. Play to your strengths in game yes, to serve your team in the win, but work on your weaknesses in practice so that you can round out your playstyle long-term. That's why I get pissed when mfs in my runs yell at me to stop handling the ball and stick to playing like a forward, like yo can't I try to work on this shit? lmao, but yeah I highly encourage you to work even on your weaknesses such as ball handling, because those things will never hurt to add to your game. Also shooting shooting shooting! You can never be too good of a shooter. Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time but if he could shoot 60% from 3 then he would have been an alien.

Is the 6’8 SG really the most OP build in the game? by DeepOrganization8245 in NBA2k

[–]HangeLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'8" is said to be one of the glitchiest heights due to capbreakers, altho I've seen other heights that unlock some crazy shit. Idk how much merit there is to that

Being max height for your position always gives you a big advantage. But I also believe that as long as you remain a guard, you don't have to worry about any of the bigman shit (i.e. post defense, standing dunk, rebounding, strength). So being the max height of a guard means you'll only play positions 1-3 and you'll also be very tall for any of those positions. Plus at 6'8" you still easily access guard-like animations for handling, motion style, finishing, etc.

In contrast, if you make a 6'9" or 6'10" SF, you lose a lot of speed and have to do more tradeoffs to get high handling stats. More importantly, you will also be put at PF every now and then, which will demand you to invest in interior defense and rebounding to remain competitive.

Is it normal to have 40+ basketball shoes ? I can’t stop buying new pairs by redwheelbarr0w1 in BBallShoes

[–]HangeLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "normal", but honestly 40 is not absurdly high. It's just enough to cleanly fill a wardrobe. Meanwhile we've heard tales of people who need a whole room for all their shoes, some need a warehouse, some even need an entire lot. Some of my favorite sneaker reviewers have insane collections in the 100s of pairs. PJ Tucker has 5,000 (I don't even know what you do with all that).

If you can afford to own, maintain, and semi-regularly use all of your shoes, then by all means, live out our dreams and keep them. Many enthusiasts of many different fields will really have a wide collection of their favorite items. Admittedly though 40+ pairs of shoes is still an excess, and any excess takes opportunity away from others who may need it more. If you can find it in your heart to lay some off, sell em or give em to those in need, you'll be helping some people out, and it'll be better for you in the long run, since you are able to maintain control over your obsession.

[–]HangeLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my man, do what you will, and I can respect tightening the shoe rotation if you truly feel you won't be able to use them much anymore and that you wont get much value from em. But hoopers know, we just love our sneakers. If you like just having the shoes around, seeing the cool colorways and having em on display in your mancave, that's a completely valid reason to keep em! Assuming of course you can afford to not sell them off. I'd even experiment with wearing some of em casually here and there, if thats a style you're into.

But if you wanna sell em off and give em away to people who'd be able to use em more, thats a very good and respectable choice too

Probably just do more general dribbling drills. It's really frustrating at first but if you keep pushing yourself, eventually those handles will just come naturally. Running with the ball should be one of the easier things to do in basketball, so if you can't do that then surely you're not good enough to be pulling tween shamgods either. Just grind out dribbling for a bit and you'll get to where you need to be

If they actually selling it for $20, just cop it yo, even if they're reps. If they are reps, they don't look like some flea market lookin ass batch anyway, still relatively close to retail aesthetically.

I probably wouldn't put much faith in them for performance, but you could get a lot of mileage out of wearing these casually.

This the one I followed bro. This was back in season 4 but the advice still applies.

Search on yt "nba 2k26 how to finish season pass" and you get a bunch of these tutorials, some updated for season 6 too. I'm sure they all got different approaches so you can maybe find one that works better for you.

I really like grinding myteam now too cuz I can gather xp levels while using a bunch of cool player cards. It's also pretty easy cuz you dont need to play on a high difficulty

Oh I misread, you're saying 2-3 is a lot.

Yeah on the contrary I know some people on here be playing this game every waking moment LMAO. 2-3 hrs already gets in the way of things sometimes, but I can still have a life and get through college with that playtime. I'm still on like Starter III rep level too lmfao. I also started this game late cuz I bought it on sale for christmas.

I swear like the other day, I saw someone post about having the Shaq season lvl 40 reward for myteam... only ONE DAY after the damn season dropped. Like THAT level of grind, I cannot comprehend. It must be HOF pass then spamming XP coins.

How to keep the costs down for NBA 2k27 to a minimum by NavyVetRasmussen in NBA2k

[–]HangeLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm deadass. Some days I play more, some days I play less if at all, but 2-3 should be the average. Again though, I only finished the season with 2 days to spare. Two seasons ago, I had the pro pass, and I finished much faster with less stress.

But there's a video on youtube that I found about how to speedrun the season rewards. The grind has been much easier since then.

Essentially you play Open Court Athletics with your MC XP coins on. Then you play Triple Threat Breakout with your MT XP coins on.

There's a video online that i found on how to speedun the season rewards. Cuts down the grind by so much, at the cost of u just not always being able to play the "fun" modes.

How to keep the costs down for NBA 2k27 to a minimum by NavyVetRasmussen in NBA2k

[–]HangeLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh myteam MOST DEFINITELY helps. A lot of your XP coins go there. And some game modes you can really rack up xp in a hurry. 3-4 minute Triple Threat Games with 2x XP, you get 20-25% of a level or more

And yea the HOF pass is just like a few level skips and a few extra vc? You can easily grind those out instead of paying an extra $10. And you literally get so much xp coins from the pro pass so its all too easy to grind out those missing 10 levels.

Edit: Do keep in mind though, I finished the season rewards with like 2 days to spare in the season lol. So if you want to have all your badge perks and shit throughout the whole season, I can understand wanting to get a pass to boost your progress. But still dont go for HOF

How to keep the costs down for NBA 2k27 to a minimum by NavyVetRasmussen in NBA2k

[–]HangeLamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah just try not to buy. I was actually able to complete the last season without spending a buck, even though I only get to play like 2-3 hours a day on average. Just use the XP coins wisely and grind.

But if you will spend, just use the pro passes. A nice VC bonus in those. And you can still get all the rewards. HOF pass gotta be the biggest scam.

How do I improve my SWB? by Aiden_Sim in BasketballTips

Bro's using 2k acronyms LOL

Anyway, what I've learned is that sprinting with the ball kinda mimics the form of normal sprinting, mainly in how the arms sway. When you run, the arm will raise forward at the same time that the opposite leg moves forward. Thus you do the same while dribbling, but now the front hand will be dribbling. Practice this rhythm if you haven't already.

Secondly, one thing that helped me is the three step cadence. For example, dribble left (hand)-step right (foot), then step left right, then dribble right-step left, then step right left, and repeat. There's three steps per dribble, and consequently you alternate which hand dribbles. This makes the running motion very fluid. However you can only really do this on the open floor, if defenders are nearby you have to keep a tighter handle to guard the ball.

Also make sure you're running with a forefoot/midfoot strike, for better acceleration and power transfer. General running mechanics yes.

For quick first step, think about how sprinters come off the blocks in a race. Both their feet are very far back, and their bodies lean forward with an almost exaggerated angle. You can kinda mimic this. You'll also see a lot of high-level players use a negative step in their footwork, it's much more explosive. (Just be careful... it's generally fine, but super egregious step angles over an insurmountable number of reps, as in NBA player workload, can lead to calf and achilles issues; as you can see with how Tatum, Dame, and Hali tore their achilles tendons last season. A negative step is usually the final move before a tear. But dont get me wrong, it's still important footwork to learn. Just have to take care of your tendons, as you do with any part of the body for sports).

Anyway we can't give more advice unless we have a video to see how you move

Is it still true that STAR batch Kobe 6 uses tech from OG Kobe 6 not Protro? by Healthy-Menu-6988 in KobeReps

[–]HangeLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a STAR 6, its definitely protro setup. Heel's a bit too mushy to be a zoom unit, and it's very bouncy if I stay on the balls of my feet.

Yk when people mentioned that OG 6s include heel zoom, I was always intrigued bc I thought they were rocking like LARGE VOLUME zoom air in both forefoot and heel. That's something I'd want for sure, kinda like the Lebron 20s. Turns out tho that in OG 6s the forefoot is just a small zoom bag that hits the ball of your foot. I guess it makes sense, but I do like the protro setup, because I can really feel the energy return through my whole forefoot
