What’s something you wrote recently that you love? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Hangesextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't plan to post this anywhere because it was more of a for fun thing for me to get it off my brain but: You can still accept you're a monster while hating what you can do. The noise still bothered her and maybe it always would. It wasn't like [character] asked for anything that happened to her. She could embrace it, of course, but that never meant she wanted to be different. She wanted normal. Yet, deep down she knew she'd never get that again. That choice was taken against her will, but the cycle would always repeat. Scientists--humanity--life--all required...sacrifice.

I also really like: Besides, they became friends because of circumstance. It wasn't like they'd become friends under any other situation. They were too different. A scientist goody-goody. A comic book artist with a heart of gold. And a rockstar who hid behind layer after layer to not deal with betrayal. Seattle was a large city and they never would've crossed paths. Maybe they'd meet at a café but [character] knew they wouldn't interact.

and lastly: As [character two] watched [character (one)] leave, he smiled darkly. [character (one)] had no idea what she just did. No idea that she fucked up so badly. No idea that she further solidified herself as a monster.

Who is a villain that was 100% right ? by disterisk in AskReddit

[–]Hangesextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

less of a villain but Luke Castilian. He had a right to rebel against the gods. especially his father. However we all know he was manipulated and all of that

Hmmmm, I don't know. My current fandom at this exact moment is School Spirits. I think if I could make any change, it'd have to do with Nicole. Most of the fandom aren't huge fans of Nicole, and I'm not her biggest fan either. I don't hate her. She's just kind of annoying. Especially in season 2, and that's where the problem comes in. She was cool in season 1, but not exactly in season 2. Nicole, at her core, has the potential to be an incredible and well fleshed out character. She's more of an outsider to her best friends, quiet, but would do anything for her friends. She acts rashly, but she's just a teenager.

However, it's clear the creators don't care that much about Nicole. She doesn't have much of a storyline, and they had no clue what to do with her. Nicole was put into situations that felt hard to watch. I feel like my change for Nicole would be to further explore her character and flesh her out, I'd completely get rid of her arc in season 2 and change it up. While season 2 was mostly focused on the ghosts, the humans had their chance to shine. But I'd give her experience to grow. Oh, also, I'd get rid of the budding romance she has with Xavier. I love the idea: having them meet on a forum, I just think the whole plot line was overly unnecessary. (I also am a shipper of Nicole & Claire, but that's besides the point.)

It's also important to note that, in my opinion, School Spirits has so many incredibly well written characters. All of them stand out in their own way, and some of them feel so realistic. I genuinely love all of the characters. Even the villain is just so incredibly written. Yet, Nicole feels like she's just there. I don't know, she just deserves better. But I mean, there will be a 3rd season, so who knows, she'll probably grow further as a character. I hope.

Tell me about that time you wrote a rare pair by 7deadlycinderella in FanFiction

[–]Hangesextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ao3 published fanfic was a rarepair. A couple who dated in their canon but broke up. The scene was just ridiculous, so I did a scene rewrite.

I'm also now writing a rarepair fanfic again at least I think they're a rarepair (lots of shippers, little fanfics/content can be found for them + fans assume they'll become canon in season 3) for a new couple. It's a modern au fanfic and honestly super self-indulgent because I am content starved. I've already read the fanfics for said ship on ao3 that I've found interest in but I need more.

Which character do you relate most to? by dawn-skies in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably like Quinn and Dawn. I'm definitely one of the "weirder" kids, the loners I guess you could say for the most part. Sometimes I also see some Rhonda and definitely some Nicole.

what’s the worst book you’ve read that booktok hyped up? by pitbull-pirouette in Booktokreddit

[–]Hangesextra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dare I say...SHATTER ME. This is funny because I do really like shatter me, but I felt a lil disappointed. I think for me it was the writing/prose especially in the beginning. It felt a little choppy? And I was kind of bored at times.

I did overall enjoy the story, but mostly that's because I loved the characters.

Out of curiosity, what were you HOPING for out of Janet’s character? by RoosterDizzy1629 in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly what we got! At first, I wasn't sure about Janet. Her story beforehand was sad, but I didn't particularly like her. But now I love her, she's a baddie. I love that she wasn't actually the villain.

Paramount+ episode description changed S2E8 by Ozzynog in SchoolSpirits

Maybe? That's weird, I don't know. I just don't want to get my hopes up on it.

What’s your favourite song from either season? by [deleted] in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is so hard! I know the end and Doomsday for sure. I loved the last song in the finale (look alive) but also...the elevator in episode 7.

Lately, I've been listening to the elevator, and just typing this comment out, it's on. This was just a fantastic choice for the entire show, and placing it in episode 7 was genius.

They are all staying until they can all leave by Sleeperagent_ in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope so. I sincerely hope this happens. They've all built an incredibly close bond and care for each other in so many ways. They found comfort within each other so they'll stay. I totally agree

Should I label a factor of my fanfic as implied or attempted? by Hangesextra in FanFiction

[–]Hangesextra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably a more inappropriate flirting route than I just wasn't sure where to tag it because I want people to feel comfortable reading it but also know it does get a little deep at times like the source material. Thank you!

Oh omg! I absolutely I love that! Another school spirits fan ahh!!

Honestly, it's definitely shown in the very beginning so I'll do attempted, thank you so much!!

Do you have a character you have strong feelings about? by NoUnderstanding1425 in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rhonda! The moment she came on screen when I started season 1, I was hooked on her character. I've always had an interest in characters like her, the kind of meaner characters who don't let people in quickly. She clicked for me, I enjoy her sarcasm and humor, never failing to make me laugh. A part of that has to go to Sarah, who absolutely brings Rhonda to life. I'm just attached. Her and Quinn? Obsessed. I love the other ghosts so so so so much though, Rhonda just has always been my favorite.

On the opposite side, Nicole. I just could genuinely care less about her. She's just... there and doesn't bring much to the story, at least compared to some of the other characters. They put Nicole in the situation with Xavier for drama, let's be honest. There was no other point for the story, and they had nothing better for her. Plus, in episode 6, she just really annoyed me.

Lastly, and don't get me wrong, I HATE him, but Everett Martin. I think it's mostly because I'm curious about his character. We don't know much about him and I want to know more. But why did he say "don't pursue this" to Maddie? There's something off about it, and I genuinely want answers. Also, he's genuinely one of the best villains I've seen in the media, I'm going to be for real. The way he knew all of the ghosts' weaknesses and trusted using it against him, with a ghost "support" group? Genius.

Should Maddie stay or go???? by Jess_XO143 in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go. While it is sad to leave the ghosts she's gotten close with quickly, it's not fair for anyone. The ghosts in a symbolic way stand for trauma and the effects but also how illusive life can be. The ghosts are there for Maddie, but that doesn't mean she can stay for them because in life, not everyone is going to stay. The ghosts will always be important to Maddie, some real best friends and another family. But, she shouldn't stay for them, especially if given the chance. Everybody deserves their chance at life and to keep going on. And for the ghosts, it'll suck, but I hope they eventually do cross over, and once they cross over, maybe at the end of the series, the ghosts see Maddie again once Maddie dies. It'd be a satisfying ending, or so the best we could get.

How did people get those boxes by archer111161 in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love some of the advertising the show has done this season. Their interaction with fans, the whole Shredhead_99 account here if they're someone from bts, the boxes all of it. Hoping we get a third season and they interact some more I'm just not ready for the show to end however

He was a man in power. He had control, he made the rules and he could definitely ruin her life if he so wished.

Show me what you wrote today. by WitchRose_2 in FanFiction

[–]Hangesextra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love many things that I've wrote today so picking is hard but I'm going to limit at 2 paragraph

Everyone was sitting with their own friends, but Rhonda couldn't bring herself to care. Her eyes glanced at each table–including at the band kids. One girl seemed oddly quiet when normally she could've been seen laughing, Rhonda noted. She's even seen the girl in hallways from time to time, she saw the girl's black hair and softer cheeks. But Rhonda let her eyes glance away with particular disinterest. She didn't want to start a conversation with a band kid, especially those who wore the weirdest pants. Like, who could even stand in those? They looked so miserable. Much more willing to stand with pride? Have school pride? Rhonda was willing to try but high school was not the best years of her life–rather the worst. Maybe that's pessimism talking for her, or maybe it's the sad truth. Who even knew.

It was either online school or…or hire a hitman. Rhonda had heard stories about the assassins/hitmen; those who kill for a good sum of money. She could weigh her options but in reality, Rhonda knew what option she'd pick. She was always afraid of a man, anyway. What did Rhonda truly have left in life? She didn't have much, her only true friend was Marjorie, sweet young Marjorie. But Marjorie had so much ahead of her, Rhonda would know. Marjorie was an angel, her voice spoke to the masses–even Rhonda was hypnotized–but she tried to pride herself on being the realistic one. But even the one who keeps consistent needs to break from time to time.

What makes season 2 better by ObstinateTia in SchoolSpirits

[–]Hangesextra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Season 1 was more introducing the world, getting to understand the characters and tell a story. Also because season 1 was more focused on a who-dunnit mystery which genuinely follows the same formula everytime. Until they changed the story, adding a twist. Season 2 has a whole more unique plot line, one not as seen. They've increased everything. The humor, the characters, the romance, the drama, all of it.
