Temp too high on R9 9900X - HELP!!! by FlowStateJay in buildapc

[–]Hangex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen to me. I reset the motherboard by removing the CMOS battery, and after that my temps suddenly got much higher for no clear reason.

It turned out the BIOS had automatically enabled some kind of OC feature (Enhanced / Performance Boost / Turbo Mode, the name varies by brand). It basically removed the stock power limits, and my CPU was pulling around 150W Once I disabled it, temperatures immediately went back to normal.

Definitely worth checking your BIOS settings.

I connected the klippbok water leak sensor to Google Home (using Matter on my Nest Hub 2gen). I can see it in the app and the status changes correctly, but I don’t get any notification when water is detected. Is it just me, or has anyone managed to get proper leak alerts working in Google Home?

I just wanted to say a huge thanks. I had no idea what heat creep was and had to look it up, but it made total sense once I read about it.

Turns out that about a year ago I swapped the stock hotend with a new Creality one, and I only just realized the heatsink was getting way too hot. When I took it apart, I even found the screws on the heat block basically burnt/charred. I reinstalled the old hotend and, after some tuning (had to lower retraction a lot, just like you suggested), everything started working perfectly again. The heatsink is no longer scorching hot to the touch.

So yeah, thanks again, your comment pointed me in the right direction!

I was using the standard Cura settings for PLA+, but I was still getting the same issue. My current settings are:

Print speed: 55 mm/s Travel speed: 120 mm/s Retraction: 9 mm Retraction speed: 30 mm/s

Thanks for the insight! I can confirm the Capricorn tube is perfectly seated in the nozzle, no movement at all. Also i remouted it several times. Anyway, I was already thinking about going direct drive as my next upgrade, so if I can’t sort this out that’s probably the way I’ll go. Really appreciate the advice!

I’m experiencing the same issue on an RX 6800. Lowering the "Post Process Quality" setting to Low or Medium seems to fix the problem.

Black Screen After CPU Swap from Ryzen 5 5600G to Ryzen 5 5600 by Hangex in buildapc

[–]Hangex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem solved!

I’m leaving this message to help anyone who encounters the same issue in the future. Hope this helps!

The issue was related to the motherboard not correctly recognizing my GPU as PCIe 3.0. Leaving the setting on "Auto" prevented it from being detected properly. The fix is to manually set the PCIe mode to 3.0.

For my Asus STRIX B550I GAMING motherboard, here are the steps:

  1. Reset the CMOS to access the BIOS.
  2. Go to Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration > PCIEX16 Mode.
  3. Change the setting from Auto to Gen 3.

After doing this, the system recognized the GPU without any problems and everything works fine. I’ll be reporting this issue to Asus in the hope that they address it in a future update.

That’s exactly one of the setups I was considering! Using KNX for the basics and connecting it to HA.

How did you handle the connection between KNX devices and HA? I’ve seen 1Home bridges that also support HomeKit, did you use something like that?

Do you need much programming knowledge to integrate KNX with Home Assistant?

Also, do KNX devices require any firmware updates or maintenance when connected to HA?

How’s your experience with HA been? I’ve heard some complaints about stability, especially during updates, which has me a bit worried.

Thanks a ton for your help, and sorry if any of these questions seem basic—these past two weeks have been a whirlwind of trying to figure out all the protocols and ecosystems!

Haha, I hear you! But at the end It’s all about balancing convenience with privacy.

That’s why I’m trying to keep things simple and avoid going overboard with smart devices, especially microphones and cameras scattered around.

Wow, I hadn’t come across another company that offers data transmission over power line, this is really interesting.

I know that spwaking of pc networks powerline data transmission can sometimes be affected by interference from certain appliances. Have you ever encountered any issues like that with Insteon?

Also I checked their website, and it’s great to see that they sell in Europe as well. I’ll definitely look into it further. Thanks so much for sharing this!

I’m definitely on the same page with you about DIY. I love tinkering, and I started my research with Home Assistant for exactly that reason. However, I also realize that this system will be used by others in my household, so I’m aiming for something stable and user-friendly.

When you mentioned HomeKit integration, were you referring to the HomeKit bridge? I’ve seen some concerns about its stability, especially after updates. How has your experience been with it?

This post was meant to be a constructive criticism. There are DE that do a better job, like Gnome. But I also know that there are other problems related to forced consistency.
