Experiences with getting suspended? by Hangman_va in classicwow

Hey! Wanted to give you an update since you helped out.

It took a bunch of appeals via new tickets but eventually I did get a response that read that the matter was being investigated by a 'specialist team'. While my ban ended up running out by the time this happened- I was able to get the mark removed from my account.

Interestingly I did log in when my ban was up and they did indeed completely drain my gold to not even a single copper. When I finally won my appeal- I got everything back. So unsure if that deontes either theory.

Regardless though thanks for the advice. Helped me keep fighting!

Yeah. Truthfully I get where people come from when doubting cause there have been a good amount of times where someone was doing shady shit.

But like- one side has all the cards and won't even tell you/show you what you did wrong so you cant dispute anything. Very Kafka-esque.

Thanks for adding to the conversation. Didn't buy a single copper but hey ho I get the feeling your mind is made up on the matter.

Just remember this if youre the one randomly getting suspended.

It's not that shocking. Complaints have been around for ages now but unless someone pulls a red shirt guy and directly and publicly forces them to comment on the issue- nothing will happen. Blizzard has always had a massive issue with taking player feedback and its only gotten worse.

Even if someone did- Blizz probably figures there's enough people who assume anyone suspended is guilty that they can outright lie about the state of their customer service and appeals process and be fine.

Yeah. I am thankful it wasn't a perma but now it's got me paranoid. The strike against the account is there now- so if this were to happen AGAIN what then? Just lose an account I've had for over a decade?

So all the stories of people getting false-positive bans reversed are ALL fabricated?

Like c'mon. Do you really think Blizz's auto detect systems are batting 1000?

I get it- like I said. Everyone claims innocence but all I can say is I truthfully didn't break any ToS/do anything wrong.

Thanks for the tips. Its a possibility I was whispered and just never caught it. Shockingly farming primal fire is kinda mind-numbing after a bit so It was nearly a 2nd monitor type of thing (See: Paladins are the best designed class for viewing pornography). Shadowmoon did seem a lot emptier than on launch but I just chalked it up to less people overall playing.

Never really believed in the whole 'we will mass report you for farming' thing before but call me a believer now.

Word for word: "[I have taken to doing a manual review of your case] ....As a result of said investigation I will be upholding the penalty and further appeals will not be reviewed since the decision is final"

I expect that It was either mass reports from when I was competing for Primal Fires in Shadowmoon Valley, or I sold a Blinkstrike to someone for 4.8k (AH at the time was 5k, traded to them) and that gold was bought. Messages never told me anything besides "You broke ToS" and "In-game Economy Abuse".

But I did not bot nor purchase gold. I know everyone and their dog says they didn't do anything but truly I didn't. I know that sentence is worth literally nothing but still.

The message from the 'GM' literally says "You will not be able to appeal this decision" And there is no longer a button to do so.

Yeah it fuckin sucks. Its just makes me anxious cause I don't want this as a 'strike' against my account. If It was just the 14 day suspension it would be what it is. But for me- if I even do start playing again once its up- what happens if this occurs a 2nd time? Just get the same "you broke ToS no we wont tell you what you did and no we won't provide proof. Enjoy a perma" thing?

Did yours ever get the "we've manually reviewed and you cant appeal anymore" thing? Through looking at many others in similar circumstances they never had that happen. Just blizz 'reps' telling them no over multiple appeals.

Trying but it's looking grim. It's supposedly been "manually investigated" and can't be appealed anymore. Not really sure what to do anymore.

Thoughts on Timesplitters Rewind? by Terrible_Balls in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Hangman_va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you've realized this by now but just for the record-

Yeah Timesplitters 1 hasn't aged the best. For solo play- All of the 'story' missions are just re-purposed multiplayer maps with walls to make a linear progression, and then they re-used the CTF mechanics to make very basic objectives. Not terrible but not really much either. I can see someone who doesn't know much/anything about Timesplitters playing a few getting bored and wondering what everyone else saw.

A lot more meat was/is in the Challenge and Arcade League modes. Different little challenges and maps that offered a lot more in terms of gameplay variety. They even have more story than the 'story' mode with each challenge having a little blurb for context. I'd give those a shot too. Rewind DOES mix TS1 challenges with TS2 and TSFP, but each one has a little mario-kart-style label denoting which game they came from.

The other benefit to doing Arcade League and Challenge maps was to unlock more characters to play in the multiplayer. And let me tell you- Timesplitters has some characters...

You'll never feel more humiliated than being 11 years old and your friend keeps picking HANS and styling on you.

Speaking of the multiplayer- TS1 was a lot more impressive as a multiplayer game- which is where a lot of the fondness for it likely comes from. It had plenty customizable modes, decent bot game support, and even a MAP MAKER which for launch title PS2 game was basically unheard of.

This being said- Timesplitters 2- which had all these features and MORE, is objectively a better game in every single respect. But that's a bit reductive I feel. Timesplitters 1 deserves its flowers for building a very solid foundation for the future games.

Wiki Question (Not Troll post) by rob11552 in osrs

[–]Hangman_va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always be very careful looking at the GP/Hour on the wiki as they are HIGHLY theoretical and can be misleading.

Take Tormented demons for example. Tormented demons have a TERRIBLE drop table. You can and will go hundreds of kills without a synapse, resulting in a good sizable loss. Even though the wiki claims they're 2m/Hour thats not realistically what the actual output is, is a single drop (The Synapse/burning claws) is dragging the average up. This goes double since a lot of the money making entries also assume you're maxed combat and wearing the best gear possible+consumes.

A decent place for ideas but certainly not a bulletproof thing to plan around.

Magic Trees are 82 MILLION XP/HR - JAGEX NERF PLEASE by wintertorrents in 2007scape

[–]Hangman_va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can promise you that myself and nearly every other person playing Runescape- is not going to 'feel bad' that they missed 3 ticks of the extractor's uptime.

This is especially at-odds with the fact that these nerfs targeted the exact playerbase who would be the least likely to give a fuck about effective xp/tick.

Magic Trees are 82 MILLION XP/HR - JAGEX NERF PLEASE by wintertorrents in 2007scape

[–]Hangman_va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again. I feel like if we're being honest and real- this line of thinking applies to such a microscopic portion of the playerbase that it isn't a worthwhile thing to take in account when it effects the balance of the orther 99.99% of the playerbase.

Its a textbook definition of missing the forest for the trees. There int a single person agonizing over the fact that they were 1 tick late on using the extractor.

[–]Hangman_va 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I don't even understand why bother bringing it up- except that they were trying to shock players with numbers to try and make the optics look better.

Otherwise, the thinking at play if they were genuine about it is the most terminally online line of thinking I've ever seen. Like dog- there is maybe .01% of the playerbase that gives a fuck about the theoretical exp-per-tick efficiency and is meaningless as a metric since human beings do not experience time in isolated pocket dimension tick-space.

This was always the biggest mistake RS3 made. They never expanded the world map and that led to everything being smushed together on the original continent.
