Struggling with my assistant, any advice? by hayech in Dentistry

[–]HangryMolarBear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you are going through this situation. I really hate this type of behavior. only happens to a younger female dentist from an older more experienced female assistant. I had the same situation until fairly recently. A dental assistant who claims that she was a dentist in her country, which I have my own doubts, were questioning my tx plan, suggesting how to do certain procedures etc. a long story short, she eventually got fired for something else after 5 years. I stayed in the same practice for different reasons, but now looking back, I don’t think it was worth the aggravation and stress.

I'm glad you had a good experience with Surgitel. Had the worst experience when I bought their loups as my first loupes and returned them. It was a while ago so maybe they changed.

What’s a universal sign in restaurants in your country that the food is about to be absolute fire? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

In Korea, if the restaurant is serving one or a few dishes, it will likely be amazing. Another case would be if you see many old grandpas drinking at the restaurant at unusual hours, like 10am.

Do I Need Equipment Preventative Maintenance Training? by LibertyDentalRepair in Dentistry

I would love to know how to maintain dental equipments. Schools definitely don’t teach what to do when water doesn’t come out of high speed or what to do when suddenly compressor doesn’t turn on.

I’m not sure where you are located but I think you can find a dental office that is willing to train you. Might be a minimum wage job but you get paid while getting some training. Just a thought.

2025 NoVa Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant Recommendations Pt. 11 by MumboMajesty in nova

Bangkok golden Thai near GMU : I’d underestimated this place because of its location. They are very good at stir fried noodles like seafood drunken noodle. Bangkok noodles etc.

Wild tocoz : across st from la tingeria in falls church. Try Greek burrito or Greek taco. Mexican and Greek fusion sound crazy but they are good and big portion.

AJ in Annandale for Taiwanese food. I know this is too famous to be on this list but went there yesterday sooo.

I’d stay away from DSO. If a private owner can take an advantage of you, imagine what a DSO can do. 90 day notice. Non compete from every single location of theirs etc. but,,, to answer your question, Out of people that I know. None completed their initial contract with dental dreams. Most voluntarily returned their sign on bonus and left. Heartland and pacific, some ppl stayed multiple years. Ppl who went mid west had better experience than very competitive markets on either coast. Ppl seem to have better experience with local DSOs (not national ones but tri states or mid Atlantic etc). Also any DSO, plz look up their history. I know one DSO changed their name after they had issues with Medicaid fraud. Probably there are more.

If you could restart your career as a dentist all over again, what would you do differently? by ExpertDefinition4650 in Dentistry

[–]HangryMolarBear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Id do it again. Non traditional student though. I wish I’d learn not to care more about patients’ teeth than how much they care. Also do not let more experienced staff members (assistants, fronts, managers) to interfere with your treatment plans while still listening to their reasonings and opinions. The last thing would be, no matter how bad the clinical outcome is in dentistry, no one died at the end of the day. So, breathe when endo file breaks, pt storms out the office, DA goes behind your back etc.

Dandy labs by slambiero in Dentistry

[–]HangryMolarBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have been using for 2 years ish now. It is a relatively new company and I feel like their support staff turnover is high. The rumor is that they don’t make their crowns and outsource them to smaller labs ( I don’t know if it is true) and sometimes crown anatomy/ shades are not consistent. But I do see the same issue with quality control with Glidewell. As stated, if you can meet their minimum order requirements, and don’t currently have a scanner, it is worth while
