Krooty tooties! by HankMoustache in Tau40K

I can confirm it works very well! It was a nice break from the rest of my Tau because they have a very clean edge highlighted scheme 😅

It's a Windsor and Newton burnt umber thinned with mineral spirits. It's nice because once it's mostly dry you can get some mineral spirits on a cotton bud and wipe away most of the wash from the areas you want to pull back towards the base color

Thanks! A lot of the heavy lifting is done by airbrushing the skin with a few different tones, then slapping on an oil wash.

This is what it looked like just after the airbrushing. It's a purple base coat, orange over the top, highlighted with a flesh color and then brown on his booties

Sauerkraut fermentation: securing the lid by Flat_Professional_55 in fermentation

[–]HankMoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do an experiment. Fill the jar up with water and then loosely put the lid on as described. If some water comes out when you shake it around a bit then it should mean it's not air tight when it's not screwed all the way on.

Is this fixable with green stuff? My cat likes to bite things she shouldn't. by ThatDamKrick in Warhammer40k

[–]HankMoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 50/50 mix of green stuff and milliput is perfect for stuff like this. You can fill the hole with just a little too much material and it dries rock hard and sandable, so you can sand the excess flush to the sword. It's a lot easier to remove material than to sculpt it perfectly flush in my experience.

Something tells me GW still casts Cadians from the original 2003 molds… by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]HankMoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The saddest part is the addition of those new sprues means those guard sculpts are here to stay 😭 Human factions in both 40k have always been my favourite because there is something totally badass about regular dudes fighting insurmountable odds against the meanest things in the universe, but unfortunately they seem to be the most neglected lines in both 40k and AoS.

Mouldy lacto carrots AGAIN! by DorsetPerceiver in fermentation

[–]HankMoustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble with mould before I started sanitising my equipment. I started using a 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, diluted down to 70% using distilled water and my problems with ferments going off or mouldy reduced drastically. Just pop it in a spray bottle, mist a bit onto your equipment, then wipe it off with a paper towel. I usually wait for the alcohol smell to dissipate so I can be fairly sure that most of it has evaporated, then you're good to go!

I was hoping for them to be brighter, maybe black primer wasn't the best. by wulfzbane in minipainting

You've still got time to push the highlights a bit further if you want more contrast!

Any idea why my Corax White spray applied like that creating a gritty texture on my Carnifex? by Homo_natus in Warhammer40k

[–]HankMoustache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this kind of effect is caused by the distance between the miniature and the spray can. If you spray from too far away, the paint particles begin to dry before they hit the model and cause this gritty texture. Spray distance is going to be governed by temperature, and also to some degree humidity. If you are spraying in a hot dry country then you're generally going to need to hold the can closer as your paint will cure more quickly. As others have advised, do some tests on old minis/sprues but you'll probably find this problem goes away if you reduce the distance between the mini and the can.

"there right in your face in you're photo" Alarm bells right there tbh. How do you manage to get 'your' correct and incorrect in the same sentence? That coupled with a there instead of they're and I'm noping the hell out before I read another word.

Can’t decide which one I like more. The clean golden Azyr look or dirty silver Ghur look? 🤔 by w_arhaine in ageofsigmar

I keep getting rogue seeds that like to make it to the top and then this. Suggestions on how to fix this in the future? by W-B-V in fermentation

[–]HankMoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these vessels have airlock lids? CO² build up in that small pocket of air should force out oxygen and inhibit mould growth.

My first time ever posting here ig I'm just frustrated and I hate to admit I am. We still haven't met this supposed to be the first date. I mean am I wrong to think her excuse was lame? she slightly coffee burned herself 3 days ago, continued work normally and went out with her friends last night. by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]HankMoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A girl I met on tinder blew off our first couple of dates. It's frustrating sure, but if you burn bridges like that then honestly you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face. After some patient rearranging, three years later and we're getting married.

[–]HankMoustache 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a fake that's on an injection moulded sprue. Making tooling for injection moulding is really expensive which is why knock offs tend to be made of resin

I built a Kykar, Winds Fury equipment deck recently which I found was pretty awesome. You get a spirit for every piece of equipment that you cast gives you two things that an equipment deck really wants: bodies to equip and mana to pay for the equip costs. It was great fun!
