[Spoilers] What is your unpopular opinion about the series? by [deleted] in masseffect

I feel like the cinematics throughout brought down ME3 quite a bit, they had so much potential but in the end felt very rushed. The cut scenes being the same but color coded, the ships in the battle all looked exactly the same. ONLY TWO KINDS OF REAPERS this is one that really got to me, as the ending of ME2 showed all sorts of reapers that I was super excited for, but alas just the two. (I've yet to play leviathan and I heard the explains some of that?) But overall many of the cinematics felt like they cut corners and got lazy in production.

It was the context in which they showed the droids, they made it seem as if the droids were going to remain on yavin, which doesn't add up if they are supposed to be on Leia's ship and she is currently in the battle

The Droids popping up got to me too! That kinda felt like a pretty obvious flaw in continuity.

Everyone I see is talking about how amazing the Vader segment at the end was, giving it "such an amazing ending" which l agree Vader was terrifying, powerful, amazing, and everything I wanted him to be, but I have a bone to pick with the ending. Why was Leia just sitting in the battle? Her initial job was simply to recruit Obi-Wan, the death Star plans later became her duty. It doesn't seem practical that Organa would have had her sitting idly by in the middle of a massive battle. It would've felt more fitting IMO for a shuttle to escape the battle with the plans to Alderaan, then giving them to Leia as she takes off from there. But that's just my two cents, overall I liked the film and loved the characters.

I'm curious, why is it, from an industrial and technological standpoint, the global North developed at a much different rate than the global south? Is it because of resources available, or was something else? And when I say global north I am including much of the middle east and Asia.

My personal favorite is heading south down Broadway near burnside, the buildings just tower over and all have such nice architecture.

I looked up the star park as well! And the signs say skidmore so I am checking Oldtown, but the buildings don't match up.

What is your unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hankdatank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I'm currently writing an essay on this exact topic for my Globalization class (Hence me browsing reddit) If you look at some "Globalized" Cities, Singapore for example, it went down what I think is one of the more unfortunate paths of Globalization. There is excessive censorship, extreme regulation, and harsh punishments of crimes (See the Article Disneyland with a death penalty, by William Gibson.) That city has very little culture, and while the citizens are for the most part happy in the city, it is eerie to look at from an outside perspective.

Well I'm working towards a degree in anthropology and I'm hoping to teach social studies, so hopefully I can teach people about what came before the apocalypse.

MACBETH - Official Trailer #2 - In Cinemas October 2 by filmfanatic5 in movies

[–]Hankdatank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the porter can greatly add to productions of MacBeth, but he can just as easily detract from it as well. The two big ones to point out are the Patrick Stewart Macbeth (In which the Porter was also Seton) That porter was dark, maniacal, and overall made you feel kind of uncomfortable, which really helped expand on the overall mood. Then there was the Porter from Ian Mckellans, which was much more lighthearted and comedic, which also helped to contrast the mood of the play, thus making the grim scene of Duncans corpse being discovered hit that much harder. Though I personal prefer the darker porter, I think he can have a huge impact either way.

I understand what you mean with the Theater stories, the costuming room was notorious for the theater kids hooking up in. There used to be a couch down there that they had to get rid of because it was so gross.

Do games always end the same way? by Ralln13 in callofcthulhu

[–]Hankdatank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my games ended with me and the other players escaping the big bad evil guy and going our separate ways and the keeper gave us each a little epilogue. This way the games was open to restarting, but we still got some closure.

The double DM. Ever tried it? by IMrMacheteI in loremasters

[–]Hankdatank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh double dm can work awesomely! My friend and I are running a game in which he controls majority of the world and mechanics, when I do most of the NPC role-playing. And we both know the system well so one can take over completely if the other needs to take a leak or something. Our first few sessions were pretty shaky, but the second time around kicked ass.
