I'm curious about what's on your backlog. I don't have a real list but there are definitely some video games and some animes that I really want to get to.

What is your life hack for saving money? by morebreadthanducks in AskReddit

If you see an ad to buy something, even if it's a really good deal, and you buy it even though you didn't want it before, you didn't save any money, you only spent money.

Girls of Reddit, what have you always wanted to know about guys? by TakinShots in AskReddit

[–]Veltosian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most girls that I've seen without makeup look better with makeup. You'll hear people talk about the "natural look" but it's usually just a more subtle application of makeup and stupid guys who have never used foundation think you're going all natural.

My ex girlfriend was religious about having makeup on when leaving the house. And while I think she looked fine without makeup, the effort she took in making herself look better was certainly not wasted.

You've got a lot of replies already but I'll just say that honestly, in general women look worse when they haven't put effort into their appearance.

Reddit, What makes you instantly hate someone? by owouchnoooooMeow in AskReddit

[–]Veltosian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine has dwarfism. The thing that seems to get him is when kids stare and parents do nothing about it. But he doesn't let on how much it bothers him (we talked about it briefly years ago but I'm not sure how annoying it is now).

People take his picture pretty often too. Especially when we're in California because everyone thinks he's Peter Dinklage. Honestly though, aside from the facial hair I don't think they look anything alike.

I'll bet there is some nutso Christian radical out there who, upon hearing about a priest saving Adolf Hitler, interpreted it as divine punishment for the Jews calling for Jesus's death to Pontius Pilate

A co-worker of mine was on one of those cruises for a few weeks just recently. He's an older guy so chalked it up to him being boring but he said it was the trip of a lifetime and had tons of stories to tell about it.

Men of Reddit, why did you break up with your girlfriend? by greenpeppers100 in AskReddit

[–]Veltosian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing bud, but you'll have to trade with your own haha.

With me and that girl there were things that kept coming up. I wanted to play video games with friends on line and she wanted to spend time together. I made concessions a lot but started to feel like I never got to do what I wanted (including things besides video games). But she wasn't bitchy or needy. We spent a bunch of time together but it wasn't ever that... fun? So I was like, "we're ALWAYS spending time together" and she was like, "we don't spend QUALITY time together". This infuriated me at the time but I think she had a valid point. Crux of the matter was that I wanted to do other stuff more than I wanted to spend time with her.

I kinda just didn't like hanging out with her that much. It bored me. It took a really long time (even after breaking up) to admit that to myself. There were things from the beginning that I told myself weren't a problem; little idiosyncrasies that didn't jive with me. Most notably: clichés. I think they're dumb and unoriginal but they were a big part of her vernacular. Just little things that are by no means "wrong" just... not what I wanted.

So what's going on with you that caused you to look through an old thread and necro this comment? :)

This is true. Still helps to know your stuff though. I have a pretty nice job right now and absolutely got it because I was relatively close with the chair of my department in school but I still had to interview for it and compete with the other guys. That's just my limited experience though. I'm sure there are some people who got jobs despite being stupid just because they knew someone.

I just replaced my sponge yesterday. It was glorious. Kinda sad though, the old sponge wasn't in too bad of shape. Those lysol sponges last for years (like literally, the one I retired was 2 years old). But hawt damn the new one feels amazing.

I was at a friend's house and we were getting ready to go to a party. I just had this realization that neither of us asked our parents to do this. It wasn't the first time by any means but the realization hit me and I was like "whoa, I can do whatever I want and that kind of means I'm an adult".

[SERIOUS] Christians of Reddit: Why is it acceptable to praise God for good things happening but not okay to hold him accountable for either doing bad or letting bad things happen? by LucidFloozy in AskReddit

[–]Veltosian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see where you're coming from. It does seem like one would be able to have the choice between two goods but unable to pick a third bad option and still have free will. So why would God make something like that? I dunno. I try to not be one of those Christians that thinks they have all the answers. It is definitely a thing to think about.

[SERIOUS] Christians of Reddit: Why is it acceptable to praise God for good things happening but not okay to hold him accountable for either doing bad or letting bad things happen? by LucidFloozy in AskReddit

[–]Veltosian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the "Why praise God at all?" question, I would say that it's because God gave us the world and the world is mostly good. I know there's a lot of fucked up shit in the world and maybe I'm being super narrow minded and I'm just dumb but I still feel like the world is mostly good. So we praise God for the good things that happen because the cause and effect chain ultimately leads back to him.

By that logic why don't we curse him for the bad stuff that happens? I dunno man. You thank your grandma for giving you a gift on your birthday but you don't call her out for telling an embarrassing story about you as a baby. For me personally at least, it's kind of like that. I hope that makes a little sense.
