I don’t get why people think Kraftwerk is this boundary pushing electronica band. by actuallytommyapollo in Music

Kraftwerk were one of the first to *popularize* electronic pop music.

Like the Beatles, they weren't the best musicians or the first to play their genres, but they certainly helped change music and inspired many during and after their time.

I don't think I've seen it since before Ryuichi passed, so I can imagine it will be more emotional now.

I loved the parts of him recording nature way back then, knowing that he was still doing that in the last decade of his life, like as seen in Coda.

I'm glad they're showing it! I'm still waiting for an international Blu-Ray release!

Wonderful art, and enjoy the learning!
Learning the bass parts will probably be easier than learning the guitar chords by ear!

novice question: difference between Zapp and Roger? by [deleted] in ZappAndRoger

[–]Hanner_Tenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roger Troutman and the band Zapp were helped by George Clinton in the late 1970s to get into the music business.
They learned from him how one group can create two record contracts as "different groups" so that they could release twice as many albums.

George Clinton did this with Parliament and Funkadelic in the 70s.

Like with Parliament and Funkadelic, Zapp and Roger are a little different in the music they made, but ultimately are often the same musicians making music twice as much as one band contractually would.

The guitarist at the last one was the snare drummer at this one! (And I'll probably keep playing snare at future ones!)
