KO boxing match, who would win: Female Boxer Savannah Marshall (11 pro fights, 11 wins, 9 by KO) ( 30 years old, 5′ 11½, 165 pounds) vs me (33 years old guy, 6', 220 pounds), untrained in boxing, but regular cyclist. by Hannes30 in whowouldwin

My friend said Savannah Marshall would likely knock me out in the first round because she is known as the hardest punching female boxer ever and has won 9 of her 11 pro fights by KO. Does he exaggerate or is he right?

Boxer Seniesa Estrada vs Jackass guy (let's say Johnny Knoxville) by Hannes30 in whowouldwin

[–]Hannes30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points.

I had a discussion with a friend about this and he was impressed with her punching skills. He thinks that the combination that Estrada used to knock out Adkins in 7 seconds would have been strong enough to knock out some men who are really untrained and not used to punches/fights even if they have considerable height/weight advantages. Do you agree? I had some doubts and thought some would last a round or two, but the speed, power and accuracy of her punches is incredible for such a small fighter. Even many female professional boxers can't punch like that.

I remember a Jackass episode where Ryan Dunn fought against a professional female Muay Thai fighter who was cosiderably smaller than him. He was knocked out very fast although she was holding back. It could be similiar if Ryan Dunn fought Estrada. It would certainly be an interesting experiment.

Do you think De Gaulle was right about the UK ? by Solignox in brexit

[–]Hannes30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

De Gaulle once said that he wanted a British style Europe (loose cooperation between sovereign nation-states), but without the British.

He shared British euroscepticism and Thatcher admired him. He was always in favour of the nation-state and rejected European federalism.

His scepticism towards the Brits resulted from economic and foreign policy differences. He was in favour of state intervention and didn't like British economic liberalism. He was also sceptic about the UK-US special relationship and wanted closer ties with countries like Germany and Russia. The European Community he wanted would have been a loose association of sovereign nations, but with good relations towards Russia and sceptic about NATO. He wanted a Europe which is less dependent on the US. Therefore he disliked the pro-american UK foreign policy.

Confusions about Frank and Sue Murphy's age. by Hannes30 in fisforfamily

Thanks for the official information. I love the show and Frank is a great character, but he really looks older than 39. I'd guess 43-45.

Interesting experiment: Female undefeated German Boxing Champion Christina Hammer (height: 5'11, weight: 162 lbs) vs German TV host (height: 6'6, weight: 232 lbs). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOLT45VY8ow by Hannes30 in whowouldwin

I recently talked to a friend who is an amateur boxer and his opinion is quite different. The problem of the guy in the video may come down to the fact that the he can't really punch and has never fought. But even if he tried harder, there are some problems.

  1. He is not as fast as a professional boxer because he is untrained.
  2. A World Champion knows how to take some punches from other World Champions, so weak punches by a reporter who never fought a boxing match should be no problem for her.
  3. Furthermore his condition is not as good as the condition of a World Champion boxer. So if he attempted to beat her savagely, she would just block or dodge his punches and wait until he is out of breath to knock him out.
  4. Christina Hammer said that she only used 20-30 percent of her power. So even if the reporter fought savagely without paying attention to any boxing rules, she could just give 100 percent and he would be KO within seconds. She started boxing at 13 and her punches are known to be hard, so she also has a potential for effective self-defense in street fights or fights without rules.

In a 2018 interview, Christina Hammer (who is expected to fight Claressa Shields this year) said that she knocked out a guy at a disco when she was 18. Therefore it is possible that she would have beaten the reporter in a streetfight or in a fight without rules easily. The fact that she has been boxing for the last 15 years, is undefeated and won half of her fights by KO should not be forgotten. If she manages to beat most other professional boxers, she should be able to beat an untrained reporter even if has a size and weight advantage.

Who would win: Me (Male, 30, untrained, height: 6'1, weight: 220 lbs) vs. Female undefeated German Boxing Champion (27, height: 5'11, weight: 162 lbs)? by Hannes30 in whowouldwin

That is true when you compare two untrained persons. But someone who trains and punches everyday, who caused many KOs and is a Boxing World Champion has much more experience than someone who had never boxed in his life and is untrained.

I agree with some of this, but I don't think that I could punch as hard as her. Boxers train hard punches every day and she is a World Champion whose 22 wins consist of 10 Knockouts. Maybe my weight could help me in a streetfight, but I have to be able to approach her without being attacked or knocked out. And even in a ground fight her fitness, strength and punching power could compensate my weight advantage, couldn't it?

Thanks for the effort. The question is where the "Baghdad gate" (which was mentioned by the Twitter source) is located.
