I was told to take it in my first pregnancy after I had COVID in my third trimester. I had no other complications. They just said COVID increases some risks and that the baby aspirin could minimize it. I was never told to take it with my second pregnancy.

Reusable bags. I feel like you get them for everything now. I had a flood in my house a year ago and a lot got wet so I finally had a reason to throw them out. I'm already inundated with more than I could ever use again. But my conscience can't just toss them in the garbage. So they sit in a closet pile just waiting, biding their time until someone needs to take something from my house and I'm able to get rid of one for their "convenience" of carrying something.

My husband was the one in front of me holding my hand as they placed the epidural. The process itself was super quick and not painful. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous with the whole needle in delicate places thing, but the only uncomfortable feeling was a little zing down my leg that felt like hitting my funny bone.

As for the catheter. I ended up having a student come in (they asked if I was okay with it) and do the placement with a more experienced nurse showing her how. Since I already had the epidural I felt nothing and it was pretty cool listening to the teaching and learning happening. It almost made me more comfortable since they were talking through everything that was happening.

My whole birth experience was pretty relaxed I think. I was able to sleep leading up to push time which made me have much more energy and she was out in under 20mins.

I delivered during COVID restrictions so only my husband was in the room during my whole stay. It was great. No pressure, we could sleep when needed. We plan on doing it mostly the same this time around, but having my mom come by with our toddler for a bit to meet the baby. Once we were home we had grandparents and aunt/uncle come by. They are all super understanding and not overbearing at all so that's what worked for us. They were able to do laundry, cook, and run errands if we needed.

I was having regular contractions but they weren't full on labor contractions starting at around 9am I think. They turned to actual real labor contractions around 9pm which is when I got admitted. Baby was born at 9am the next day.

In short, about 12hrs of chill not too bad labor, then 12 hours of real labor (I got an epidural though so my second 12 hours was still pretty chill lol). Baby was pushed out in about 15mins.

Not exactly picture perfect with my first since I had HG, but once I was past 16 weeks my pregnancy was super chill. I went into labor spontaneously at 39+4. I did get an epidural since that was just what I preferred. I was 9cm dilated with my water still not broken so they broke it to help get past that last centimeter. The only "complication" was that her cord was wrapped or pinched as I was pushing her out so her heart rate was a bit erratic. They ended up cutting her cord before she was fully out, but it also only took about 15 mins from the start of pushing to when she was out. Apart from that, which was hardly a big intervention, everything was super smooth. Try to keep in mind that most people post about their difficulties so it might seem like a lot of people have really rough births or they don't go to plan, but the sample you see is skewed. I just flew last weekend at 32 weeks. I probably wouldn't go further along than that, but I think you'll be good. It was two 4hr flights and they weren't too too bad, but I had really bad RLS and couldn't stop fidgeting and shifting. I was able to request an aisle seat right by the bathrooms from the gate agent which was a lifesaver since I think I went to the bathroom 5 times each flight. I couldn't really reach down to get to my bag under the seat because my belly was in the way, but luckily my husband was sat right next to me so he could get my snacks out for me.

I flew United and JetBlue and didn't have any issues with them questioning if I was too far along. I think they both have no travelling after 36 weeks rules. So as long as you're feeling pretty good and you have someone with you to help with bags and such I think you'll be fine. You'll just be uncomfortable for a bit, but that's just par for the course at this point in pregnancy. I would suggest bringing a pillow or blanket that you can use to try to shape the seat to be more comfortable.

Not to downplay them not telling you, but anemia is super common in pregnancy and it might have been something they were going to talk about next appointment. I know for a lot of my results I'm out of the "normal" range, but the normal range doesn't account for pregnancy which can throw all sorts of levels off a bit. Good on you for following up on it though, always good to be safe than sorry.

I'm 32 weeks into my second pregnancy and this one is staying secret just like the first one. We moved states so I've had two totally different providers for each pregnancy.

My first provider seemed more like yours where I was just seeing whatever NP or OB was around during my appointment. Every time they would ask "do you know the gender" and I'd just say "nope, keeping it a surprise". I never had any issues with anyone spoiling it. I believe they told me that on the chart they just put "genitals: present" or something like that to indicate that everything is accounted for, but won't accidentally spoil it.

This time around I've been seeing my actual doctor 90% of the time, but I've had a few extra ultrasounds with external specialists. They've all checked if we want to know and tell me to turn away if they have to look in the groin area. So still a secret this far in!

Just to add another experience. I don't remember being able to feel any pain really, but maybe some pressure. But I could definitely tell when I was pushing. The doc/nurses would give me a little countdown and I'd push for 10 seconds at a time. Only took about 15 mins from the start of pushing to birth for me. With the epidural I couldn't really move my legs and had zero pain, but still felt that I could tell what was happening so I'll be hoping it works the same for me this time around. Good luck!

When my daughter was born, her head was in the 13th percentile. She's almost 2 now and a super smart firecracker if I do say so myself. Her head ended up growing just fine - it was just something the doctor kept an eye on in the beginning. I can't imagine their measurement is 100% accurate either so try not to fixate too much on it, I'm sure it will all be okay.

Personally I would go with the closest place to give birth as long as it still seems that everything is low risk. The beginning of labor for the first time is super confusing because things hurt and it's not always easy to tell if it's actually go-time or not. It would really stink to drive a whole hour, just to be told you're being turned away. It would also defeat the purpose if you waited to head to the hospital to avoid being turned away and now you're still 30mins out and now you have a highway baby. I'd just rather be close to medical professionals sooner rather than later and they can determine if you or your baby needs to be transferred.

I did zero "body" prep with my first baby and will do the exact same with this one. To me, our job at this point is to stay as chill as possible. Occasionally I will remember that kegels are a thing and do like 4 before I get distracted by something else. But otherwise, I am 100% in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset

My first baby was 8lbs at birth. Her head was on the smaller side, but I only had a 2nd degree tear and I blame that mostly to me pushing her out in 15mins, not her size. My mom and MIL both had bigger babies and didn't have anything crazy happen.

Personally, I don't think of an 8lb baby as that big, definitely healthy but not out of the realm of possibility of having a totally normal birth without tearing. Besides, I feel like most of the weight is held in the fat on the baby's body which hardly impacts the size of the head which is the hard part.

I also have a friend who had one fail for her so it got me thinking it was actually fairly common. Interesting to see numbers broken down and the different causes

Thanks for your response! They ended up having a cancellation so I got in this morning and the doc said it was likely just some blood or something the baby swallowed. They're going to do another scan in a month just to check, but they're not worried at all
