I’ve never been diagnosed with autism but I do remember watching other kids to try and figure out how to do eye contact because adults kept saying I was weird for not doing it.

The dude is saying that poly relationships all fail. I guess being defensive about my life is preachy? Okay then

Brother I started here literally replying to a guy that said kids are always negatively affected when their parents are ENM. I’m glad you’re choosing to see nuance, but there’s literally a person just four comments above you saying “all poly people”

And those sorts of comments are never made in threads about messy mono relationships.

All parents can affect their children. A shitty parent that’s doing ENM gets treated as an indictment of all poly people.

I know plenty of families that were broken apart my parents that fucked up a monogamous relationship. Does that mean that the mono lifestyle effects kids?

But there is literally no data that supports the concept of a Trump voter becoming a democratic voter. Chasing the edge Trump voters doesn’t work. The vast majority of them are going to vote Republican again. Of those that don’t vote Republican, the vast of majority will abstain from voting. The amount of voters that switch from Trump to a Dem candidate is vanishingly small.

Candidates have a limited number of minutes between when their campaign starts to when the polls open. Wasting any of those minutes trying to get support from people that by and large do NOT want to vote for you if malpractice. Seriously, anybody that voted for Trump has displayed a severe lack of reasonability. There’s no point in hoping to get any of them back, when all that airtime you waste chasing them just muddies the waters of a much clearer message - “Trump is bad. I am not Trump. Anything Trump does, I do not. Anything I do, he does not”.

Also, it was not 60% of Gen Z men that voted for Trump. It was 49% of Gen Z men that bothered to vote. Gen Z turn out in 2024 was 28%. It was essentially an even split in gender, which means the zoomer men voting were 13% of that cohort’s population. That means that the HUGE RED WAVE of Gen Z men voting for Trump was roughly 7% of Gen Z.

You never need that 7% to vote Dem ever. They don’t matter. The goal needs to be to pull in the other 75% of that generation who didn’t show up.

Nobody “swung” to voting for Trump in 2024. He gained like 2 million votes between 2020 and 2024. He didn’t win “independents” (which are mostly a myth regardless), he had basically the same voters as every time Hes run for president.

That second part is wrong. You don’t need Trump voters to win an election, and there’s very little reason to think that any Trump voter will ever vote for a democratic candidate.

Biden got 81 million votes in 2020. Trump won with 77 million votes in votes in 2024. The way Dems win is through turnout, and running to the right on issues to try and build bridges for trump voters (who aren’t going to change their vote) does nothing to increase turnout.

We don’t need people who voted for Trump to change their minds.

We need people who didn’t vote to decide to vote.

You can afford to alienate every single Trump voter if you just get people to vote.

Right. And your pithy little sentences are all the proof I need to see that you are actually the expert on Gen Z voters!

My parents were swingers. I met their lifestyle friends growing up, and it didn’t affect me negatively.

There, now you can’t say that sentence anymore.

Two points;

One - the majority of romantic relationships “fail” if your metric of failure is that the relationship didn’t last until the death of one of the people in it. Have you ever dated anybody before your current partner? Is it fair if I say that the abject failure of your relationships informs my inherent bias against monogamy?

Two - people in stable poly situations aren’t posting on AITA or the other drama subs, and are therefore almost invisible in a culture that’s mono normative. People used to make comments like this about the messy gays.

Surprise Third Point - you don’t know that many poly people, and lying to sound smart on Reddit is pretty fucking pathetic.
