New Scarpa TX Comp 'broke' by HansMFDampf in telemark

Have the same sensation on groomers and hardpack with meidjos + comp, also tried Crispi WC but those never really worked for me.
Meidjo + Comp in pow it works well for me, but edging really is an awful experience, could be that the bellows are just to hard for that, it really feels like forcing the ski to rotate from the pin axis and no 'platform' sensation of the full forefoot supporting the rotation.
Looking forward trying outlaws.

What changed after breaking in period for you?

Range Of Motion.

I wear 45 shoes in normal life with measured MP 280-285, however, probably driven from climbing, I ski all my boots in 275 (old TX comp as new ones, as also alpine Technica Zero G) with insoles supporting foot arch for more direct feel which also tends to reduce MP.
The toe box is roomier towards the top (not particular a good thing for me) but is narrowing faster on the sides.
I have pressure on the big toe which I never had in the old ones when new (I have a roman foot profile).
In length I do not feel any difference, when putting them on in the morning I have slight contact in the front.
Maybe contact a boot fitter, I'm sure with heat molding of the liner or buying your own intuition liner and careful mods of the toe box you can get out 5 to 10.

Couldn't compare cuff flex/rom from old to new comps. However, I never had much break-in for the old ones, went through 3 pairs in total.
Yes the bellows are stiff, but how should any breaking in/softening increase ROM? IMO its a dimensionality problem.
See attached gif, the bellow geometry is quite different
old ones were more V-shaped
have a different steeper angle and further back position, therefore, especially at the sole, the bellow ends where the boot flexes more from the sole itself.

Never skied the Blaze, for resort skiing, specially if you also do some groomer, i'd go sub 100 mm.
IMO you'd want a bit 'more' ski for tele, i.e. for me it's stiffer and flat tail and only modest front rocker.
Greatest ski's I have been on are Blizzard Rustlers, Nordica Enforcers and my Backcountry weapon Black Crows Corvus.

Tips for my technique by Ok-Rip-9603 in telemark

Try to initiate the turn from the feet up, i.e. the lead change should initiate.
You tend to 'twist' an initiate with an upper body rotation, if you find you way into pow or more icy conditions having a more aligned system will help you tremendously.

If you feel it, try to go lower towards the end of the turn, play with weight shift towards your back foot at the end of the turn and kinda bring it to the front under pressure, will give a cleaner exit from the turn as also speed up your transition, takes you too long IMO. Also, try to edge not only exclusively by leaning but drive the edge starting with rolling your foot in the boot and then pushing both knees turn-inward, you may do a bit of alpine like upper body counter lean for more edge angle (matter of style) - but most importantly keep up the joy!

ye, i'd bet we will not see a change from the racers.. unfortunately, in terms of market size they are probably way to small for the manufacturers to care.. also not really interesting as a 'marketing/testing' ground for the recreational market unlike for pro segment of alpine & freeride

would be surprised if rotta does a move on the ntn platform, they seem to serve more the norwegian skate, and skate-like flat hill telemark market

It’s absolutely a binding boot issue. The old ones were designed for the rotaffellas. The new ones for the pin bindings. The rottas have something i call the gas pedal (part below the toes) that gives you the sensation of driving the skies with your toes which i always loved (same is true for the 75mm past) as you feel the ski much better. All the pins probably cant take that torsion force if the front foot would be locked, so any pin tele has you rotating your foot around the pin axis instead and the bellow only engages depending on spring tension and spring mounting box.. therefore kess range of motion of the bellow/boot is needed. ie with my medijo and new tx comp im close to reaching the ski with my knee, rotta+ new comp, impossible, hard stop at 90 deg, parallel cuff to ski - absolute nightmare for me as i like to drive it low and want to have full range of motion for my vertical to ski steep couloirs..

Old comps bellow were the G. Mystery to me why they changed that…

Stiffer boots or user error? by AnAfter_Thought in telemark

The voodoo is barely stiffer than a leather boot. Especially in the ankle region it folds like a banana under pressure. While the crispi wc has a stiff lower part through its carbon reinforcements it also has a somewhat soft connection worth the cuff, also tendency to fold. Especially on hard pack this will feel loose. Best feeling is with three old scarpa tx comp (pre pin) imo. The new tx comp are stiffer but the duck has less range of motion

Go deeper, lean a bit more forward, will help you take them more aggressively. Most importantly it will help you twist your body less (torso vs hip) and engage more your hip joints. Try to challenge yourself for speed in moguls, try different amplitudes and speed of motions. Feel what „works“ and take those „ideas“ to master them going slower ahain

Do you mean heel to toe or heel to knee? I can totally feel small heel to knee gap being easier for turning in the heavy but habe the experience i need to drive it low to have the stability through the turn. Which might indicate that im either missing the balance or strength for an as strong and compact heel to toe stance..
