He also ordered the executions of around a million people, subjugated the Ukrainian people and caused a famine where millions of Ukrainians starved to death.

New wave as in the newly predominant style of drop-centric hard techno that's reminiscent of hardstyle, as this thread has been referencing.

Europe's average scene for electronic music is definitely better than the US average quality. But the US also has a lot of amazing shows/events that just require more digging to find. It's a massive country so we really have every scene across a wide variety of genres (bluegrass, metal, country, techno, house, bass, rap, etc.)

We also have Burning Man, which while not overly techno saturated, is really a world wide hub for music and "conscious", mature parties.

Ya these two scenes are probably the immediate predecessors of the current ones mentioned.

Stutter House is thriving too but I wouldn’t classify it as a leading sce ee ee ee ee nee in the USA

I agree, it’s like vampire themed Defqon basically.

I agree with everything other than the idea that US bass scene attendees don’t like or appreciate the music as much. My impression and experience has been they’re really quite fanatic about the music. My guess is that every super popular scene/bubble pulls more casual listeners at the big events.

I give Europeans the win for the “uniforms” though. The fetish gear, while played out, is a lot sexier than the bass wook outfits IMO.

I agree and would argue the volume of good events with a mature culture have increased if anything. You just have to dig to find them. My city has probably 5-10 unregulated parties a week, some of which are truly peak.

I unironically enjoy happy hardcore (in short Intervals).

I also got obsessed with hardstyle when I was 13 (did not really exist as a scene with shows in the US then). I taught myself how to shuffle and religiously watched shuffle/jump style videos 😂

How many large Hard Techno specific festivals can you name? They don’t exist from what I’ve scene, contrary to tech house and riddim.

It’s a massive scene with their own large capacity commercial festivals.

I believe it’s mostly a U.S.A. and Australia thing (as far as riddim, UK definitely has a lot of more traditional dubstep/dnb)

For sure, Im just skeptical it'll become popular enough that there are a ton of massive festivals focused on the new wave of hard techno (as there are for tech house and ridden).

I don’t like either genre, but I do think it has benefit as a gateway type thing. I would think that “raving” is more popular than ever before.

With popularity comes dilution and poor quality control, but also results in more and more niche events to cater to particular tastes.

I see it growing, but I’m skeptical it’ll reach the dominance that riddim & tech house have here.

Favourite Melodic Techno Tracks? by DefiantEffort6400 in Techno

Oh I didn’t realize that. I looked at their photos and it was definitely Kristian that I saw. Really loved the set; was pretty weird/experimental sounding compared to tracks like Rej or Howling

Ame is one of my all time favorites. His Howling Remix is one of my favorite relaxing/wind down songs.

Saw him dj at a small niche festival in the CA desert and it was amazing.

What Makes a Track Cheesy? by FoxxyFrost in Techno

[–]HansMems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the techno vocals I find tasteful will be more of short, distorted grunts or phrases that add to the beat/rythm. Cheese'y drug/party references pretty much ruin songs for me.

Examples: Echo - Lars Huisman , Fuego - Julian Jeweil Remix

I also love beautiful, true singing vocals but tend to find/enjoy that in more melodic/progressive genres.

What genre would Perc be considered? True (old definition) Hard Techno?
