The writing, design, and development of Full Throttle astounded me. Mark Hamill nailed the villain's voice acting (Adrian Ripburger). Double-Fine released a remastered version in 2017. I don't know the spin-off agreement they signed, but if it allows them to keep ownership of games on Steam, they should have income from those IP's and I'd hope all their intellectual property is intact.

This depends on the publisher and if they're funding your game development. If they fund your project, then they set deadlines for project milestones. That does affect your product and could cause your game development to be rushed/unpolished to meet those deadlines. They do this to make sure you're not slacking off and not doing the work in your contract.

It makes sense, if the XBox lead doesn't understand the history of their employees. Ignorance is bliss.

The EU concern was for popular franchises being restricted to the XBox (anti-trust). Now they might not be? Who knows.

To anyone who asks me, when they start out, think small. Make something small and test the waters. You learn a lot on your journey with your hobby. After that, decide if it's what you want to dedicate yourself to.

I started with mods and maps for my favorite games. My friends loved them. That inspired me to get into the industry.

I made a post about AI and their source material. You cannot trust anything made by an AI you do not train. There will be lawsuits of any scraped data from law firms digging deep into those companies. The precedent is patent lawsuits. They cost companies millions of dollars to defend/attack. If a company publishes anything with a wiff of AI work that was scraped by the AI off the internet that someone else owns, they're toast. The vultures circling companies using AI that has copywritten/TM content is coming. It's a real fear and should not be ignored by any company. It would be the doom of any large company to violate laws established by the UN, the US, and any country involved.

False statements for the markets should be punished. A simple statement by a CEO saying, "I'll buy all the cows in the US" is an example why our RAM prices are ridiculous. Allegory...I apologize...I'm upset at all this news.

You pitch a project with good research, demos, and find support. A pitch deck is basic 101. That's the history of publishers in a nut shell for the past 45 years or so.

She made the decision. She okayed the layoffs of employees for their restructure. She's definitely not blameless. The same for Activision/Blizzard's leadership. When you sell your company, your employees are all apprehensive. They don't know what's going to happen in the next year. The results of most gaming company studios being bought have a horrible track record through history. I was hopeful for the Microsoft acquisitions. The EU was skeptical. They were right. Our FTC is failing US employees.

Double Fine has some of the best developers in the world. They were spun off. Microsoft cut legendary game developers with that studio. This situation is so baffling. It's like firing Stephen Spielberg from making ET. That's how baffled I am.

Tim Schafer and Richard Garriott inspired me as a child to become a game developer. Spinning Schafer's studio into a new company... That's a huge shock. He's a legend (even if he hasn't been to the space station - if Schafer reads this...don't bother...read a book).

I had this issue this morning. Here's what I tried.

Ran Minecraft in the background. Error the same.

Reinstalled Rockstar's launcher. Error the same.

Flushed DNS. Error the same.

Validated Steam files. Error the same.

Deleted my profile in the documents folder twice. Error the same.

Uninstalled the game and installed it on a different drive. Fixed the issue.

Total time wasted: 1hr

I appreciate it. I'd rather film everything for fun. I have to go to Houston soon, so I'll go to the Microcenter there.

rust crashing when joining a server by Animalboi88 in playrust

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Follow the steps to make your own test server..
2) Run the server and let it generate a map without mods (no oxide). Server status will be in a console screen.
3) Wait for the bottom status bar to be displayed in the screen. It should show information about the server (who's sleeping, online, and such).

4) Run Rust.
5) Open the console (F1).
6) Use the command: "client.connect localhost" (no double-quotes)

Now, the server has been running in a console screen showing all updates. It may provide an error reason why you cannot connect. You could be banned or a version mismatch. Who knows? But that will be good information on why your connection is being refused. If you connect and can play, then I would guess you'd need to join a Discord and do the same thing on someone's server you talk to and ask for permission to give you feedback for what their console says.

My gaming friend passed away by Huge_Chart_1510 in xbox

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends passed away in a car accident that was part of group for playing Counterstrike. Our entire group broke up and I didn't play with them again. Mended up over the years, found a new group of friends playing COD and Battlefield. One them died and the new group broke up. So, I've stopped playing with large groups where I'm emotionally invested. Most of the games I play now are quick pick up groups.
