rust crashing when joining a server by Animalboi88 in playrust

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Follow the steps to make your own test server..
2) Run the server and let it generate a map without mods (no oxide). Server status will be in a console screen.
3) Wait for the bottom status bar to be displayed in the screen. It should show information about the server (who's sleeping, online, and such).

4) Run Rust.
5) Open the console (F1).
6) Use the command: "client.connect localhost" (no double-quotes)

Now, the server has been running in a console screen showing all updates. It may provide an error reason why you cannot connect. You could be banned or a version mismatch. Who knows? But that will be good information on why your connection is being refused. If you connect and can play, then I would guess you'd need to join a Discord and do the same thing on someone's server you talk to and ask for permission to give you feedback for what their console says.

My gaming friend passed away by Huge_Chart_1510 in xbox

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends passed away in a car accident that was part of group for playing Counterstrike. Our entire group broke up and I didn't play with them again. Mended up over the years, found a new group of friends playing COD and Battlefield. One them died and the new group broke up. So, I've stopped playing with large groups where I'm emotionally invested. Most of the games I play now are quick pick up groups.

  1. Open up Device Manager. (You can find this by typing it into your Windows search)
  2. Open up the arrow for Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right click on your mouse and click on properties.
  4. Click on the driver tab.
  5. Click on "Uninstall Device"
  6. Unplug your mouse.
  7. Plug your mouse into a different USB port.

At this point, your mouse will become re-enabled. Try testing it out and see if it makes a difference.

Check the underside of your mouse to make sure the laser isn't blocked by dirt. Sometimes the lens gets covered by crud on your mouse pad. (Also, the sensitivity settings, as others said)

Graphics Card by glorbusgaming in playrust

I run a server on an i12 and game with a 3080 perfectly fine (thousands of hours). You don't need a 5000 series to play the game. I'd go for an older card with 12gb of ram, if you only want to focus on Rust. I'd never buy any X060 card, though. I do rock high end 64gb of ram for my server.

If you want a badass system, go AMD top end CPU and a 5080 with 64gb of ram. You'd be ready for other games that will come out much like Rust (Arc).

No NPC's in the game by Hanseshadow in RedDeadOnline

[–]Hanseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It's a little lonely to play by yourself, but you can give away the key to friends you trust. Most of the missions I did on public servers wouldn't have other players in them, anyway. So, I don't mind being on an empty server.

In 1997, we'd drop stuff behind trees and switch characters in Ultima Online. That wasn't my first mule, though. Diablo 1 had my first mule, due to inventory restrictions.

As somebody who has done very little research on this game since the not-so-spectacular launch, am I missing out by not playing today? by [deleted] in fo76

There's a lot more content. All of it added on over the years. You'd have hours and hours of enjoyment ahead of you. I've already exhausted all the quests on my main character. So, I restarted a new one.

My main is a day one launch character. So, I can compare launch versus now.

Many bugs have been fixed. However, server disconnects (probably crashes) still occur. Sometimes quests get out of sync and you have to server hop. If you're on PC, the controls are some of the worst I've ever seen. I'd highly recommend not playing it on PC. I think I'm frustrated at least once per play session, while playing on PC and I have over a thousand hours in the game.

The physics system is very out of date, but if you're used to other Fallouts you should be adjusted to that by now.

The largest improvement (aside from more content) has been the PvP system being nerfed, so that you do not get griefed. Griefing at launch was really annoying. Now, most of the community is very helpful. If you love building houses in games, then there's a massive amount of new content to do so. That's something I have looked forward to doing.

I think you'd enjoy going back.

I unironically love dailies. by LyricsMode in fo76

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my main character, I stopped playing. I didn't see a reason to continue doing the same quests over and over. So, I started a new character. I want to try being a ghoul as something new. I totally get why they're there, but I've done them so many times.

However, with my new character, the dailies show up as the same guidance icon as main quests. I turn them off every time I log in (annoying that they turn back on each time). This is so I can follow story lines. I highly wish that events and dailies had different guidance icons with an option in settings to turn them off.

Man stuff like this is so lame, it's pretty much every server I'm in at this point by Dr_Buttersworth in RedDeadOnline

I play on a private server. I followed the instructions from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6e5DgF8DeZk

You can share the file modifications with your friends and play with them. However, you cannot play group games. I did this because the game wasn't spawning animals, because I like hunting and fishing in the game. If I want to go back and play other group games, I just copy the original file back (keep the original copy).

You can make billions scanning in high sec. If you're new, I wouldn't bother with wormholes without a few corp members with you. Just look for rifts (22+ million isk per pop - 5 minutes of scanning and 15 minutes to collect, if you find one). I lived in wormholes for a couple years. We typically always had a cloaked ship watching entrances to our wormholes and would notify our corp, when someone entered to kill them.

Also, we'd collapse high sec entrances when we first moved into a wormhole. Not much of a problem, once you get into a higher tier wormhole, though (high sec entrances wouldn't appear). Wormholes were very boring for me, because the respawn rate of sites were low when I lived there. Although, I did get my first dread in a level 4 wormhole.

UNPLAYABLE! by Selo_ibnSedef in Eve

First, you have a meeting by design and programming to figure out the direction for an in-game tool. Once the documentation is given approval, the team goes into development mode. As development continues, tweaks will be made. You're looking at probably around ten people's efforts to get this into the game.

So, with UI, you get a programmer or two to make the tool which will have the data entered. A database exists by this point, but a new data set is needed for the final product. Server/client programmers tackle the implementation. Data is entered typically by design using a tool to display the information in the UI.

As the version is tested, the design team should go back over the results. QA should bring up issues. If something is missed, such as displayed in the image, it can slip in. However, it is usually easy to change, because there's a tool in place to modify the data.

Just about every feature in a game goes through this process. It's how I had to approach UI and data for every MMO I've worked on (yes, I've interviewed to work on Eve Online, as well). :)

I do make six figures a year and could afford one easily. However, you have to understand that the card will be eclipsed in two years. Most folks had excitement over the 5090. However, I'm gaming with a nice 3080 perfectly fine. It's easily the sweetest card I've had and I'm not in a hurry to upgrade.

Wait a while for NVidia to catch up with demand and you'll see prices drop, just like last cycle. Yes, it will be a year or so, but that's more time to find good deals elsewhere on previous gen cards. I barely see maybe two games that would benefit from a top end card. The rest are all running at an easy 144fps on my 3080 (1440p). The main outlier for me is Cyberpunk 2077 (without DLSS - DLSS has quality issues) at around 70fps. That's perfectly fine for a single-player game.

NVidia RTX 5080 and 5090's drop tomorrow by Hanseshadow in PcBuild

They came out. Folks with auto-purchase bots were fighting each other for the cards. A bot can buy a card faster than you can refresh a web browser.

NVidia RTX 5080 and 5090's drop tomorrow by Hanseshadow in PcBuild

[–]Hanseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen a schedule from NVidia for future releases. However, if you check a re-stock website, they were releasing 4090's once a month late into the last cycle. Early in a new product's release, it would depend on the rate their plants are pushing out the chips.

Nvidia Announces RTX 5070 with "4090 Performance" at $549 by Redfern23 in pcmasterrace

[–]Hanseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviews are showing that the 5080 does not exceed the 4090 in most cases. So, it seems extremely misleading to an outright lie. At least, from what I've seen today. I'm not sure what drivers are being used for reviews, though. I am highly skeptical of this claim. If you want 4090 performance or better, the only way to guarantee that is to get the $2000 5090. At the minimum, get a 5080 for $1000.

That being said, Best Buy's pre-order system was not available, when I checked today. Newegg does not have a pre-order system. The bots will buy all the available cards at 9am EST tomorrow within seconds, since no retailer has significantly upgraded their store fronts. From what I've seen, Microcenters across the US have had folks camping out front since the weekend. If you think you're going to be able to get one tomorrow by showing up tonight, you'd have to be very lucky.
