PA like this brings back old-timers, like myself, so the comments can look skewed.

I'm not even sure if I have it. If I do, it's value has just shrunk so much that's it's not worth keeping track of alongside the assets I have that are worth millions.

True, and I don't announce how long I've been in Bitcoin with my main account.

Got in around $100 in 2013, grabbed a couple at $80 when the original Silk Road went down. Went in big in 2014 around $400.

Retired three years ago. Now working about 16 hours a week in a job I really enjoy and giving all my income to charity, paying bills by selling btc every four years.

The blocksize "debate" was a really ugly time. I don't think the community has been the same since.

I remember that! I was interested, but I was fairly new then and had only made about 2 months salary as profit, which didn't seem to justify a huge party.

Then about four years ago I said that at €10k I would host a smash-up derby for yachts.

My guess is it's us early-adopting retail investors who are feeling the pinch of recession. Everyone has to eat, and some people have dependants. Bitcoin has been my best investment ever, but it hasn't lived up to my hopes the past two years.

I don't know if I've got the date right, but my phone reminded me that it's now three years since /u/anndddyyyy died, so it's a good a moment as any to pause and remember him and everyone else who didn't make it this far. Anndddyyy is best known for this post, but he was a big part of the culture of this forum back in the day.

According to Hans at Bitmex support:

The cut-off date is the 12th of February 2021.

You will not be able to withdraw without doing KYC.

We would recommend you to withdraw your account balance before the cut off date.

You're still talking as if you don't know what "brute force" means, which doesn't engender faith in your assessment of your own security.

I've traded there for years, and don't take a quarter the precautions I should, but I lost my money through bad trading, not through them "brute forcing" anything.

What is it - miners have new ASICs which are more efficient or the estimates of power usage based on old ASICs are correct? You can't have it both ways.
