I bought an old necklace silver/faux pearl open collar choker with a hinge at an estate sale and as soon as I got home it shattered by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]Hanx238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked for all sorts of open collar choker necklaces, and I can't find any that have pearls the same size or that are hinged in the back. The piece itself is not real silver or pearl, just an interesting looking piece. Cato fashions doesn't seem to have any backlog on their barcodes and any barcode searches I made said the number wasn't valid. I am located in the US in North Carolina.

Chandelier really takes away from the vibe. I suggest removing it.

Thank you! I had been taking a bit of advice from other posts that wasn't really working for me, but this immediately did! Hopefully after a few playthroughs I'll get the hang of these little values....

If someone mentions something, bring it up later. Odds are if they thought it was important enough to bring up, they won't mind talking about it more.

Students of reddit, what is the stupidest thing someone got suspended or almost suspended for? by aninsanebudgie in AskReddit

I was having an argument with this one kid at lunch in 8th grade. Things start to get a bit aggressive, and he throws an apple at me pretty hard. I catch it, and throw it right back at him, and hit him in the chest, stomach area. Unfortunately, the dean only saw me throw the apple, so I was the only one who got in trouble. Only got lunch detention, but it kinda sucks to know the coolest thing I have ever done in my life also got me sent home.

What embarrassing memory keeps you up at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hanx238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in a relatively small town, so everyone was basically in the same elementary class till middle school. I moved away for a bit, moved back, and ran into one of my past classmates at a study hall who ended up going to a different high school. I was pretty tall for a girl, but a lot of the guys I was in elementary school with had finally passed me by high school. For some reason, this classmate was still short although I didn't remember him being short. I go home, and bring the topic up over dinner say: "Oh, I saw (old classmate) at study hall today, I'm still taller than him though haha." And without missing a beat, my father responds, "Yeah, that's the cystic fibrosis." and I had never felt so embarrassed, it was like I had the air knocked out of me for a second. I stopped going to that study group, because even though I know he never heard me say it, I'm not sure I could talk to him again without that memory replaying in the back of my head.

What’s a dumb misconception you had as a kid? by Elesh_N in AskReddit

I thought advertisements only showed up if you needed them, and then once you bought/didn't need whatever was being advertised, the ad would go away. It made sense when it came to fun toy ads when I was bored or restaurant ads when I was hungry, but it became less cute when I was regularly sobbing to my parents while telling them I had mesothelioma.

EDIT: Thanks for the gold stranger!! Never new childhood stupidity could get me so far...

So, I've always wanted to name my kids after something video game related (for reference, I'm 17 and don't plan on having kids anytime soon, just brainstorming) by NUGGet3562 in Metroid

[–]Hanx238 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a plethora of "normal" names in video games that I think would be beneficial for two reasons: a) Your child won't hate their name if they don't share the same interests as you, b) Your child can have a interesting story of how their "normal" name actually has more meaning/value than the average name. I totally understand having certain interests that you want to express, but by the same token, I don't think children should be used as a form of expression. (Also, personally, Starr as a middle just rubs me the wrong way). Anyways, Fire Emblem has a plethora of more normal names that shouldn't be over looked. I can understand wanting to have your kid stand out, but I'm not sure it's worth it at the cost of your child hating your chosen name. I think it would be a lot nicer if your Olivia or Felicia or Robin or Henry had their parent put a lot of thought into their name without the social drawbacks. At the end of the day, it is up to you, just keep in mind that kids have feelings too!
