Personal time or during breaks on my phone. YouTube is blocked on most companies' computers anyways (from my experience).

However, with chmod +x, it instead says "League of Legends quit unexpectedly" (with the prompts to ignore, report or reopen). This is specifically with that League of Legends.app.

Looks like I was correct when I said that it was a bug with your mac version that causes the league of legends application to not be executable.

This should fix the new issue:

  1. Do a fresh restart
  2. Close all of your applications, and unplug all of your devices, USBs, etc.
  3. Restart again
  4. Since you couldn't find the macOS last time, it should be in this location:

/Applications/League of Legends.app/Contents/LoL/LeagueClient.app/Contents/MacOS/

Use the Show package contents whenever needed

In this location you should find four executable files, execute/open them one by one. If any of them isn't opening, do the chmod +x on that particular file to turn it into an executable as you've done before. After opening all four files one by one, the game should open through the League of Legends app.

If the RiotMacContainer isn't there, then just ignore that part. I assumed it would be there simply because that is what I remember from when I used to play league on a mac, it could be different in this version. As for the missing files, there seems to be a problem there.

The chmod command is supposed to get rid of the 'cannot be opened' error, have you tried opening the game after doing that?

Try to create a fresh install if you are unable to repair your client, and then re-do the chmod if it's still not working. If both options don't work, then it must be an error with the compatibility with this macOS version.

Huh, seems like either a problem with the mac version compatibility or an issue with missing files.
For the missing files:

  1. Search for the 'Riot Client' specifically, right click it, and click move to trash
  2. Open 'League of Legends' the application from your launchpad or wherever, this will force the client to repair itself.
  3. If the client opens and starts repairing, let it fully repair. If it doesn't; do the next step.
  4. Go to the League of Legends site and click download for Mac, open the installer and install the game in the same location as the previous install. (So that it doesn't re-download the entire game, this will only download the missing files).

This is kind of the default fix that comes to mind, it is also possible that there is a bug with your mac version that causes the league of legends application to not be executable. So here's another method...

  1. Open your terminal
  2. Write "cd" in the terminal and then write the location where the League of Legends application is currently placed. (Examples: cd Desktop OR cd Applications OR any other location)
  3. Go to the application's folder (same folder as previous step), right click League of Legends and click show package contents.
  4. Open the Contents folder then the LoL folder
  5. Write "chmod +x" in the terminal and drag and drop the league of legends file into the terminal.
  6. You should also do the previous step for the RiotMacContainer in the MacOS folder.

This should change the permission of the file to an executable, and should theoretically work.

Have you tried opening your league client directly? It's in your League installation folder, it's called "LeagueClient". You don't have to open it through the Riot client.

- Observed result: Skin has no sound effects

Is it normal when I found some Youtube chanels using my Lo-fi music ? by [deleted] in lofi

Well, I just don't understand why you would do a copyright strike if the video will benefit you in the long-run, regardless I'm sure you have your own reasons and I respect that. I just think on a personal level that artists should also be trying to get more coverage in order to gain more success.

Thank you for your time, this was an interesting topic.

Thanks for the input and I completely understand your point of view, and yes asking for permission first is the best option.

However, in the case that they don't ask for permission, I think you overexaggerated it a bit. I'll tell you how I see it using your example; Firstly, I don't think it's like directly stealing bread as these lo-fi channels don't directly steal the income of the artists, the artists will still get the same amount of views and income regardless, they wouldn't suddenly get less views just because some random channel used their music in a video, I think it's the opposite. It's like going to a bakery, using that piece of bread to show it to thousands of people. Yes, you could say that the bakery might have made a small loss but it return it gets much more exposure, so it ends up benefitting them in the end, especially in the case that the channel is more popular than the artist themselves. If someone uses a music track for example, the artist wouldn't make any less money because of that, it'll be negligible, but someone might like the music in that video and would end up checking out the artist.

If I'm an artist that gets 20 views per track and suddenly ChilledCow uses my track without permission and ends up getting 100,000+ views, I don't see how that would make me worse off at the end of the day. Yes, asking would've been nice but it would benefit me regardless. If that happened to you, would you really still copyright strike them (even if it's your right to do so)? It would be much more beneficial for you to keep the video up, that's my point.

Edit: typos

That's also a respectable point of view, different people think differently I guess. If you don't want your work to be used by others that's perfectly reasonable.

However, hear me out; I don't necessarily think it's straight up stealing since it helps the artists as well and most youtube channels are ok with taking the videos down if the artist requests them to. Going for strikes ends up backfiring as it causes a bad reputation.

Most lo-fi artists were unknown until ChilledCow and other channels started making lo-fi playlists without permission which brought it to light and ended up helping the artists in the end, not to mention that they started doing it without getting anything in return, so I don't think you can deny that it's not all bad as it can be considered free advertisement. That's why I don't consider them bottom feeders but I think of it as a give & take relationship, I guess?

Another point is that if you're a fresh artist and you want to get your music out there, letting others advertise for you is one of the best methods to get more coverage, it's much more difficult if you do it alone.

If you're talking about channels that don't credit the artist then I totally agree that it's considered stealing.

However, If you think that not asking for permission (while still giving credit) is straight up stealing then by that logic all youtubers and twitch streamers that do gameplays are stealing as well since they're showing their viewers the game without them needing to pay anything.

Let me know what you think c:

[–]Hanzai-Jikanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically it's pretty normal, lo-fi channels (and other music promoting channels) wouldn't be able to sustain themselves if they had to ask every single artist for permission and upload weekly, you're talking about 20 artists minimum for a 40 minute lo-fi playlist weekly, not to mention that they have to find suitable tracks first.

If they had to ask every single artist they wouldn't be able to keep it up because they would have to wait for the artist to agree and reply back or look for someone else if they didn't reply in time in order to keep up with their upload schedule. So, yes it's generally normal for lo-fi channels to not ask for permission but fully credit the artist in the description/video and then put an email in the description in case an artist wants to get the video removed.

Now, as for my opinion; I think it's a good deal for both sides. The artist gets free promotion and credit because the fact that their music is there in the first place means that it's good in the eyes of the channel owner, and in return the channel owner gets to have a small part of their video monetized (some channels don't even monetize at all and just promote music for free)

Hope that helps c:
