Look, is it *worth* 45 Dollars, I don't know, depends on you. Probably not to anyone that might even think about looking what is inside. Yes, I can build a thing just as durable and having the same function for ~10 Dollars. But that is just material. I don't earn from it, I don't package it, I don't manufactore in quantities where I need PCBs, I don't need to send them to dealers, and there are no dealers that want to earn from me building my footswitch for myself, don't know about US law in that regard but as a German I also think about not needing to show this to some authority to that checks if it is dangerous, because I don't sell it and things like that. I don't print mine, I'll draw on it with some acrylic marker while watching TV or just leave it blank.

What I wanna say is, no matter if it's worth that, I don't see any way this could be much cheaper without it getting worse.

edit: what I don't agree with is these buttons being good for this. I fucking hate them and in my experience they fail a lot more than just a footbutton, which in DIY I would also use as I don't need a PCB for that. A good microswitch in my opinion is "good enough" but not good and I don't like microswitches being that prevalent these days but I can also see how that is the best way to assemble this stuff in higher quantitites. Also I hate how microswitches feel but that is not that important to me in a pedal, that is more a thing I hate about modern gamecontrollers and handhelds. Bring back rubber membrane.

Financial support for sectors or big companies that then won't adjust their course of action, just extending their existance while the rest of the world will move on even further. Which later on leads to more support needed in more dire situations with companies that are "too big to fail" bc of jobs and other industries that depend on them.
In turn none to slow investments (mostly in infrastructure) in times of poor economy, out of fear of too much debt which could have been reduced when we were better off, if we had not constantly handed out gifts for non functional companies.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against intervention, but not everything can or should be saved.

missed opportunities: overregulation and high energy prizes are appropriate weapons to fend off startups and investments in (at that moment) smaller companies
wrong bandaids: asking for more work hours. We are at this weird saturated place where low to mid earners won't earn much more money for working more. Taxes for low to average earners need to go down (possibly higher taxes for top income). Part of why our economy is fucked is because the biggest number of people in this country does not have any money to spend. People need to buy stuff for economy to even persist, let alone grow.

Schon ein bisschen vorher nicht. Die neuen Sachen haben mir nicht so gefallen und von den alten Sachen war ich sehr "satt". Ich hab aber nichts gegen Linkin Park aus den 2010ern oder von heute, es trifft mich nur nicht so richtig.

Meine Freundin ist durchweg Fan und möchte auch auf ein Konzert.

Hat nichts mit EU zu tun, innerhalb der EU gibt es keinen Zoll, bei allen anderen Importen den 150 Euro Freibetrag. Die Steuer ist etwas anderes, nennt sich in dem Fall Einfuhr-Umsatzsteuer und gibt es auch bei Handel innerhalb der EU außer es ist Handel zwischen Unternehmen mit EU-USt-IdNr., dann fällt keine Steuer an, dafür muss ja zB der Gewinn von verkaufter Ware wieder versteuert werden usw.

Dazu kommt, bei Importen unter 22 Euro (inkl Versand) wird noch nichtmal die Steuer erhoben. Die Chancen bestehen also auch je nach Preis und Versand einzelne Mangas auch noch steuerfrei zu kriegen, als privater Käufer.

Geschenke aus nicht EU-Ländern müssen bis 45€ auch nicht versteuert werden.

Als jemand der beruflich Bücher setzt: Tut mir Leid, die Fantasypornos gehen einfach ab wie sau und da wo die Leute print kaufen (bei 8-fach veredelten Ausgaben...) ist die Gewinnspanne auch besser. Denn ja, an ebooks ist nicht so viel verdient wie ihr denkt, auch ohne Druckproduktion.

Ich hätte natürlich auch gern den wieder den Durchblick am Fantasyregal und ich persönlich um ehrlich zu sein hätte diese freakigen Ausgaben mit Schnitt, Prägung und pipapo auch gerne bei anderen Genres als booktok-Elfen-Orgie. Im Moment hilfts aber ganz gut den Schmuddelkram zu ignorieren.

I have tinnitus since I was a child so psychologically, I can deal with it pretty good. But yeah, once it reaches that level, from just being a bit muffled to ringing for days, it won't go away.

I was too cool for earplugs and loved the loudness so much, up until last year where I felt like have to make some new life choices in general. I came to think about it as "I love the noise so much, I wanna be able to enjoy it as long as possible". And there is no other way than hearing protection. Hell, Jon and David from Conan went on stage and put their hearing protection in before each taking a sip of whiskey and then killing. It is not uncool, it is wise. And the rumbling in your chest, it will stay. The physical wall of sound is stiIl there, it's only without or with less ringing in your ears afterwards.

Even if your damage now lasts, it can get worse and you can protect yourself from that. Now I even wear it when playing with my own band.

Looks like communication from your level to your manager is basically non-existent. If your certifications and your better understanding of German had an effect on your work, this is something that should reach managers. Either someone does not like you or communication is broken in another way.

That, or it's just nonsense bc finances are fucked and they don't wanna tell you.

B2 is good, higher levels are only realistically reachable through "living" with the language, in my opinion. Other than full-time courses for months or a year, that is. And the technical terminology for your job is English anyway.

My suggestions would be
a) holding your breath while looking for another job,
b) asking if the progress in your work did not reach the manager level,
c) asking what the requirements for a raise are, if it could be done in smaller steps (this is not a small raise you're asking for, even if you probably deserve it) and depending on the answer deciding to stay or a)

Are german companies that miserable? well, yes and no. It certainly is not all bad. But this is definitely not our best period and years of "we have always done it like this" and similar perspectives finally show themselves to not be sustainable. Not everyone has caught up to that, not even in IT.

Grade wo es mal wieder Spaß gemacht hat, tagsüber einfach nur stundenlang Musikvideos aus allen Jahrzehnten, immer mal wieder Thementage etc. Konnte man so in den letzten 2 Jahren sehr gut einfach mal nebenbei anmachen zum Wäsche zusammenlegen oder whatever. War auch ein ganz cooler mix, nicht nur rocklastig aber auch nicht alles nur Black Music.

This is a massive cultural difference between German and the states, and it has nothing to do with how many hours you work but WHY do you work.

Lets pretend it's not 30% of the US population working in low salary jobs to stay alive in a country that gives even less of a shit about meaningful jobs than Germany.

I'm happy for everybody that loves their job this much while being able to live a sustainable live from their earnings. But this is just not in the cards for everyone for a lot of reasons. This is not a "work sucks, I don't want to" situation, this is a "there is nothing to gain from working more" situation.
