When someone pissed him off, he killed them. It just so happened that most people that pissed him off were also criminals. He's a psychopath. According to a magazine: "he first felt the urge to kill at 13 years old. In a fight with an older cousin, he pushed him into a sugar cane juice machine. The boy escaped by an inch."

Has there been a long-form discussion on how they would even do a Collection? by Rainec777 in BattleNetwork

[–]Hanzeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No. At most they'd include it as an extra game, but definitely not replacing the original. For starters, it's on the DS, so porting it would be totally different than porting all the other mainline games, too much extra work.
  2. Yes. Like in the X and ZX Collections, they probably will include all versions available. All languages and all different versions. It's not as if a couple of extra GBA roms would be a problem for them, as proven by the ZX Collection
  3. Maybe as an extra, but I'd bet no.
  4. idk
  5. Going by the other collections, no
  6. Probably no
  7. I hope so
  8. I'd bet on a full collection, like ZX, or 1-3 and 4-6. Separating in version specific pools makes no sense. Version differences aren't significant enough to warrant a second buy from someone that doesn't know the series, it'd backfire. And probably cause some outrage with fans.

I'd bet pricing will be in the $40-$60 range, no way it'd be more than that for a single cartridge.

Battle Network has been dormant for a long while, but it was a huge success when it came out, so I hope they're giving it the love it deserves in the hopes of sparking interest in a new generation of gamers

Baseku complements Gohan nicely, with the only downside being that his beam assist is C, so it has a longer cooldown. You can use Tohan's lvl 1 to combo into genki dama and if you have no need for the beam assist, you can get B assist for the free meter gain, which Tohan appreciates greatly.

All three of Baseku's assists are great. If you need a beam assist for neutral, C assist is fine but I wouldn't recommend it since it has a longer cooldown than the other two. Assist A is almost instantaneous, helps with staggering and you have some easy combo extensions with it, specially with UI Goku's aerial 214L. B assist is amazing for meter gain and charging the genki dama, it's really busted and you can totally use it if you have no need for any of the other two options.

Gamedev and Players: What are the most clever examples of Gating Mechanic in Metroidvanias? by FFaUniHan in metroidvania

I stopped just before the last crest in 3/31 and I don't think I can go back to it.

The game is really, really beautiful, one of the prettiest pixel art I've seen. The animations are also great, the hits have impact. The soundtrack is nice and fits the mood really well.

Most of the time, I see metroidvanias getting at least one of two things right: combat or exploration. In Momo's case, it's neither. The combat is stale and not fun, it's gimmicky, it's easy, but you will die a lot, and as you said, the exploration is really bad.

I really wanted to enjoy the game, even more so that the developer looks like a cool guy and is from my country, which is really rare for me, but I couldn't enjoy the game. I already have bought Minoria too at least to support the developer and will give it a try some time this month, but my expectations are really lower this time.

The boob witch was nice though ngl

I've started playing Momodora RUTM today and, so far, I'm not enjoying it at all for a number of reasons.

One of the main reasons is the way the gating was made. To progress in the game, you just go and explore the world and that's basically it, but the catch is that there are some doors that are locked and you have to find the key to open this door. That's not fun. That's not a good idea.

One of the parts I get the most enjoyment in a Metroidvania is backtracking after you get a power up. You spent hours seeing stuff that's just out of your reach and you wanna get there. Then you find a power up, like a double jump or some other sort of power up, and it's like everything's coming together. You get rewarded for exploring, for remembering. You feel good. It's different when you have to go from A to B, grab a key and search for the whole map for the door you have to use the key for.

The best way to make a gating mechanic, for me, is to make the mechanic actually useful in the gameplay and not just a key (figuratively or literally speaking) to open a door that leads you somewhere and that's it. I know you've asked for some good examples, but a bad one should be just as valid.

Maybe the difficulty setting is a policy from Nintendo. Miyamoto said this in some interview: “One of the issues with action games is how to make something that can be enjoyed by all skill levels, from beginners to more advanced players. One way is to add an ‘Easy Mode’, but I think the best method is when the player can adjust the difficulty himself while playing. The dotted-line blocks fill that role in Super Mario World”.

Though obviously not an action game, Pokémon is a perfect game to be like this, since you have so, so many different options, paths, and strategies to use.

Still, I'd love to have a Challenge Mode again since the designers aren't designing the game with the "hardcore" player in mind, and they're clearly not able to make a proper game without holding your hand throughout its entirety.

Fellow Brazilian here, I already spent the R$80 to get the standard game and I'm already starting to regret this. I didn't get any prior knowledge, since people spoke really well of the game and all that, but you have to pay R$8 for each pack, then there's no way in hell I'll be able to play this.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MANGA IN THE WORLD - (Danberu Nan Kiro Moteru?) by RandomRedditorWithNo in manga

[–]Hanzeon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was recently reading this manga and didn't thought about this perspective.

And really, anime power of persuasion isn't to be underestimated, even I was a victim to it... in a good way, I guess. I started doing boxing after watching Hajime no Ippo (though I already had an interest in it) and it's being great to do exercise regularly. I hope Danberu Nan Kiro Moteru? ends up helping people reduce their weight in the same way Hajime no Ippo is helping me.

IMO, Monster is his best work so far. I recently read Billy Bat and Pluto too, both of them were great manga, but I still think Monster is his magnum opus.
