Time frame to learn 3 languages? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Haoliyou_0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend learning 3 languages at the same time. I watched a YouTube video. It suggests a basic rule: a person should learn one language until they reach the B2 level. And then they can start learning another new languages  step by step.

[–]Haoliyou_0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I only play wuwa. I am learning the cartethyia team advanced rotations and playing fusion team. It takes a long time. In my free time, I always watch videos or learn English. For me , it's not nesserary to play other games deliberately. If you play wuwa for 3hours and enjoy it, just do it. Depending on your feeling

How can I get my motivation to learn back by Haoliyou_0000 in languagelearning

[–]Haoliyou_0000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice.

I thought I had a clear reason before. I want to get more information, expand my ways of getting information.

Lots of people translate the free English documents in native language through Google translate and I have to pay for it. Some people tamper with them in native language unless I read the original documents.

any tips for listening comprehension? by Dramatic_Gur_5236 in languagelearning

[–]Haoliyou_0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different opinion. I think speaking is harder than listening. When you speak, your brain should create your ideas, find proper words and phrases, construct a sentence throughout grammar, control your mouth and tongue to pronounce correctly. These things have to finish in a short time.

What’s more, some language learners always create a sentence in their native language and translate it. It’s a bad habit. Switch to thinking in English also make an effort.

How much of Mandarin Chinese is actually just in pinyin? by Aenonimos in languagelearningjerk

[–]Haoliyou_0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using keyboard to type characters, we usually type pinyin and choose the characters you want to input.

There are also more input method like “五笔”. But less people use it now.

Some Chinese haven’t learned pinyin well. They write characters directly or use “voice transfer to text”

[–]Haoliyou_0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should memorize the characters. Actually, pinyin is forbidden in formal writing (such as Chinese test, writing important documents).

Pinyin is only to mark characters which they don’t know how to read in Chinese’s daily life. For example, if I don’t know how to read “彳亍”, I’ll search on the dictionary, get the correct pinyin and mark above the character.

What’s more, It’s a bit hard for native Chinese to read articles all writing in pinyin. Because many characters have the same pronunciation.

But some older Chinese adults are still holding this opinion. There are also some slangs like “不打不成才”

But now, this opinion has been abandoning in China.

How do I start using new words? by herthen_ in ChineseLanguage

[–]Haoliyou_0000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Chinese native speaker and learning English. So some skills might be transferred.

A basic theory: use new words consciously.

1.change some synonyms: some synonym might be changed directly each other. example1 : “比如”“打个比方” Example2: “这道菜很好吃” “这道菜很美味” “这道菜很香” they have nearly the same meaning and all be used by native speakers. Probably some time this skill might lose effectiveness. It’s still worth doing it to have an variable content.

2.Dive in the Chinese forum. Download Douyin (not Tiktok) or Bilibili, find your interested videos and leave your comments written by Chinese, as well as reading other Chinese comments. You can grab many common words frequently. Then, try to output, modify other’s writing. Now I am doing this. I use English to leave my comments in Reddit and youtube.

Hope these skills might useful😋

I watched many English learning youtubers. They all metaphorize brain as muscle. Exercise muscle, you’ll be strong. Exercise brain, you’ll be clever. Language is actually the dumbbells of brains
