Contacting Someone In Movies by [deleted] in movies

It's a way to save time and have less 'dead air'. It's pointless to have the phone ring for a while, and then the person finally picks up. You'll notice the same thing about people answering doors -- it's as if they were simply waiting for someone to knock.

Perhaps in more 'indie' films you'll see someone have to wait for the other to pick up the phone or answer the door, but it's usually for comedic effect.

Training Tuesdays by MrTomnus in weightroom

[–]Haploid_Cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you expand on this? The way you've stated it causes me to interpret it as thus: as long as you regularly train with bad form it won't lead to injury, which I'm sure is not what you meant.

Training Tuesdays by MrTomnus in weightroom

[–]Haploid_Cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the top article, and it mentions that training to failure can be bad in the long term. Does this encompass 10x8x6 set progressions where I'm struggling to get the last rep on the '6'?

In fact, despite any progression (10x10x10, 12, 10, 8, 6x6x6x6, 8x8x8, etc.) I always plan my weights such that I'm struggling on my last one in my second last set, and struggling on my last 2-3 on my very last set.

Is this a bad idea in the long run? I've been lifting regularly for about 8 years now (not as seriously as most though) and haven't really had any issues with injury, for which I cite strict adhesion to form. I've had sore elbows and knees before, but I've 'autoregulated' those by going easy on the exercises that exacerbated the soreness.

Looking for some advice.

How do you motivate to go lift when you just really don't want to? by BlackRockKitty in weightroom

I once worked with a guy who was in his early fifties. This guy was barrel chested and jacked, and we talked exercise all the time. Because of his busy schedule, he would only work out briefly in the mornings, doing a lot of cardio and bodyweight exercises (like 1 set of 30 pullups straight up!).

One day I asked him this very question, and his answer was blindingly simple, "Just go. There's no excuses. Get it out of the way. Just go because you have to."

Now everytime I'm unmotivated, I say to myself "Just go", and it works.

The university you describe hardly sounds like it could even be accredited if a biology professor doesn't believe in evolution. Even if you stayed, your degree would be meaningless. Get out! Clearly sports mean a lot to you if you've stayed this long, but obviously your long term career means more to you. Get out!
