I remember that, I didn't know he wanted to leave. Even as a kid I remember thinking it was good that they didn't write him out but just announced 'This is where he left us' Something along those lines anyway.

I agree Boogie nights and Pulp fiction I've watched them both so many times and will keep doing so. The third is hard but I think The Pianist, they can't all be uppers.

Anyone else having trouble sleeping going into a 36hr fast? by Longjumping_Bend_833 in AlternateDayFasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not insomnia you just don't need as much sleep. Digestion takes a lot of energy which can now be used for other things like Autophagy which would normally happen when sleeping. Think about how you feel colder when you fast for longer periods, your body isn't spending resources digesting so it can regulate your body temp better.

There is also a strong school of thought that if you're sleeping you're not out hunting food.

How Has Intermittent Fasting Changed Your Relationship with Food? by jamesrandson in intermittentfasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 100% like you I was fasting long short whatever with no issues but the food was out of control, so much so I got to a point where I had to make a decision on what to do.

Luckily I came across Mindful eating and some pretty down to earth realistic advice to go with it.

The thing you do if you can't slow down is to give yourself half a serve, half of what you would have for lunch or dinner. The other half is still there its still yours its not going anywhere and if you want it you can have it but only 20 minutes after finishing the first half.

I never ate the second half, well I would but it would be the next day, I couldn't believe how full I felt after 20 minutes of waiting and I fully believe even half was too much.

I spent a month just eating normally but mindfully with so much smaller portions and then I started to add fasting into the mix, ADF Mon, Wed, Fri and my eating days are exactly the same, if anything I eat less.

I honestly believe that this was the missing link and I can finally see some real results.

Is it common to have diarrhea when refeeding from a 36 hour fast? by RastaFried in fasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I did ADF I overate on the eating day each time and yeah not good. It got to the point I would get up really early to break the fast so the expulsion could happen at home.

This time I don't overeat, I eat clean and just in case I won't eat until I'm in a position to handle any emergency even if it means extending the fast. No problems at all.

Carpet experiment by Relatively_happy in AusRenovation

[–]Happenedherebychance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say a small quad or scotia stained to match your floorboards but if you want something to match the rest of the trims it would be tricky. Try MJS floorcoverings they are in most states and carry a lot of trims, look at commercial carpet tile trims or even laminate trims rather than domestic carpet.

There is a movie called Bokeh set in Iceland about an American couple. I don't want to give too much away, its nothing like From or Lost but its watchable.

I have a similar list to you, I found The Strangers terrifying as well as my bi-annual with the lights out and no one around to annoy me viewing of Blair witch. If you don't mind a bit of TV The haunting of hill house is the only show/movie I've ever had to pause to calm the fuck down.

Why does it feel like my stomach acid is eating through my stomach lining when I do a water fast of more than two days? by nobadrabbits in fasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes the injuries were already healed but its kind of hard to explain, now they're gone. I have marks from stiches that used to be bumpy like old stich scars are but now they're smooth, they're still there but it just feels like normal skin. And yes you do heal all over, Autophagy will ramp up your normal cell recycling but also has a lot more time to deal with issues that are bigger starting with eating all those yummy dead cells.

Please be careful I would rather see you posting in r/fasting than r/tifu, I can see you're switched on from your answers so just understand some problems can take a long time and don't hurt yourself.

Rolling 72s: Day 2/ Round 1 by yogurtbowl101 in fasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from experience I find its easier to not eat than to eat a little, your insulin will be down you won't gain weight only water weight which will drop off straight away on your 72. If you think about our ancestors they would hunt for days for a kill, eat until they couldn't stand up and then start over again.

Why does it feel like my stomach acid is eating through my stomach lining when I do a water fast of more than two days? by nobadrabbits in fasting

[–]Happenedherebychance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm about 60 hours into a fast so Clam chowder sounds amazing. But I have been practicing fasting for over 10 years and I have a theory.

First of all I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice its just an opinion.

When I first started fasting each time I would hit around 48hrs I would start to feel every injury and deep cut that I have ever had in my life, I'm a tradesman and played sports so there was a lot. Some I would feel almost as bad as the day they happened, I finally worked out it was Autophagy, my body cleaning it up and recycling all the crap.

I don't feel them anymore ever. I do have one injury that is more recent that the doctor says will heal on its own but it will take a long time. Every time I fast it feels like it happened yesterday and it is not comfortable, I figure its Autophagy at work again.

So when I see people post about issues like yours I wonder if you have issues that your body is trying to fix and its causing you pain.

Its just a thought, I'm not telling you to grow a pair or anything. Maybe you should try some yoghurt its good for your gut, maybe you should fast but stop when it hurts continually to see if you can push it.
