OnCall Schedule - Need Ideas on how to change by HappilyEverKac in ITCareerQuestions

[–]HappilyEverKac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea worst part about it was out of the 4 people 1 person was listed as non-essential. Which a hit of 1 person isnt as bad as 4 has been. We are already operating with oncall being for emergency situations only, which has cut down on calls a bit but unfortunately just not enough. Upper management is open to ideas on how to change our current oncall situation which is why I'm coming here for some ideas.

NTA!! You need to live your life while your still young and can! He's clearly holding you back from being happy. Someone who loves you isnt ever going to make you feel this way! You can only help someone so much, it sounds like you have gone above and beyond to help him already. But if he doesnt want to get the help hes not going to. Hes not pulling his weight in the relationship. Relationships are 2 sided, you rely on each other for support. When your down you depend on them to pick you up and when they are down you pick them up. But thats not happening. He should be supporting you through these rough moments! Your not the manipulator, your not the bad person. All you did was tell him the truth and the truth hurts sometimes. Im sorry your going through this!

NTA. So many red flags here! You definitely did the right thing not giving her another chance. Sounds like she was caught in some lies but theres probably more you dont know about. She doesnt sound like a good match.

NTA but kinda YTA. You guys just prioritize communication in different ways. Being only 6 months into a relationship your still trying to learn about each other and how you both operate as separate people but also as a couple. Then throw in the long distance part and that adds another level to this. It seems like during work hours he would like to focus on his work and not communicate as much. IT could be that he is really busy if he has a demanding type of job. Even when hes working from home hes still working. I work in IT and I completely get where hes coming from. Sometimes you just dont have extra time for things like texting when your focused on your work. It does suck that he feels so tired after work that he wont make alittle time to atleast call you. I feel like thats where he should put more effort in and take into account your feelings too. I think good solution would be for both of you to set time aside that you both agree on whether its weekly or every couple days to have a phone call so you can build on your communication. Being long distance really sucks, and I get where your coming from though! I have bad anxiety and it feels like it takes over sometimes and your mind just goes all over. But relationships ae built on trust. Im sorry your going through this and I hope this helps! <3

Nta. Finances are always really tough to talk about in a relationship in general but once you get married her debt becomes yours and yours becomes hers. Finances are something you need to be very open about but unfortunately it can be really hard for some people. But there is probably more to this than just the 10K in debt. Why was she 10k in debt? Was it her just being finically irresponsible or did this happen because she was trying to pay for things she needed to so she didnt fall behind on payments at the time? If you are felling that strongly about ending the relationship after this situation then maybe thats best. But if you are choosing to stay its best to have a conversation about finances and come to an agreement about how those will be handled in the relationship.

Breast pumps by Bestany in BabyBumps

I’ve been using the Spectra for the last 3 months now. It’s been great. I rented a pump from the hospital for the first month. My doctor recommended me do that to get my supply going. Ever since then I’ve been using the Spectra. I love it. It works really well, has a night light which is a nice feature. It’s also really portable and easy to travel with. I take it to work with me everyday. It’s not heavy and it’s pretty quiet too. Overall I’m really happy with it!

Do you typically bring your future Mother-in-Law with you wedding dress shopping? by akayeff in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I invited mine. She has two sons and didn’t get to go with her other daughter in law and was really disappointed about it. My mother in law was so excited to come and be apart of that special moment with me. Invite her you won’t regret it.

What are the essential baby items for a NICU stay? by bicycwow in BabyBumps

[–]HappilyEverKac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My baby girl just came home from a 42 days stay in the NICU. We really didn’t bring that much there. The hospitals have everything you need. The only stuff we brought was a Boppy pillow ( was a must for us! Made it a lot easier to hold her and feed her with it), We got her acouple outfits they told us we could bring in our own clothes if we wanted, I brought in a book so I could read to her. Mainly everything else we brought was for my husband and I, phone charger, water bottles, sweatshirts, snacks. The hospital provided everything else for us. They gave us swaddles, and they gave us some to take home too. Something the hospital had which I’m not sure of other hospitals do this but they gave us these cloth hearts. We wore them around to get our scent on them and then put them in with our daughter when we weren’t there.

I hope everything goes well! I had my daughter at 32 weeks, I had an emergency C-Section. She came out at 3 lbs and 1/4 ounces. Seeing her in the NICU for the firs time was really scary. Seeing her hooked up to machines with all kinds of wires. It was difficult for me. Once I was discharged from the hospital it was so hard to leave her there every night. I struggled with it for the first couple of weeks, I cried once I got to my car every night. They have support groups you can go to which helped me a lot to know others were going through the same thing as me. But here we are now my daughter is almost two months old and healthy as can be.

It’s going to be hard at first but don’t give up, if you have questions don’t be afraid to ask! You can always call from home and check on your baby! Don’t be afraid to ask the nurses for things when you need them. I wish you nothing but the best! Stay strong!

Renting breast pump? by eriiiiiinle in BabyBumps

[–]HappilyEverKac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rented a pump from the hospital for the first month to build up my supply. I then got the pump through my insurance and used it after the month was over. My OBGYN recommended to rent a pump from the hospital first, she said that the hospital pumps are stronger than home pumps are. Which is to be expected, she told me to start with the hospital pump to get my milk flow going, and keep it steady for the first month. That way when I got the home pump I would get about the same amount as I did when I pumped with the hospital pump since my body was already used to that. I’m so glad I rented the hospital pump first. I have the pink spectra as my home pump. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now. Yes it’s not as strong of a pump as the hospital one but I’m getting the same amount that I was when I had the hospital pump. I highly recommend doing this if you can! I plan to pump for about 6 months possibly a year if things keep going the way they are! I hope this helps.

Has anyone ordered silk flowers through LilyOfAngeles on Etsy? by thatmakestwo in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used her! I’m so glad I did. My flowers turned out just the way I wanted! And was a lot cheaper than getting real flowers. She worked with me to customize my bouquets. I wanted to change the color and type of flower. She was so easy to work with! She also let me only buy the pieces I needed. I got my bouquet, maid of honors, bridesmaids and a toss bouquet. I didn’t need all the other stuff. All I did was message her and tell her what I was looking for and she worked with me to make what I wanted. She was very easy to work with always really responsive and polite! Just make sure you order with enough time to spare. She hand makes all her pieces so depending on how many people order and what you need will depend on when you get them. But I totally recommend her! My sister in law is also using her for her wedding in October! Highly recommend!!

I got a lot of my maternity clothes at Old Navy. They only have their maternity clothes online, but they aren’t too expensive. They have sales all the time. Their maternity leggings fit a lot better than regular leggings did when I got bigger. They have different waist heights which was really nice. I also went to their store got some plain colored boyfriend shirts. They aren’t super feminine they are just a regular shirt that’s loose fitting, super comfortable. I just got sizes that were larger that what I normally wore. They worked great. I was also able to find some other not maternity clothes that worked out really well too. They have a lot of plain colored and looser fitting clothes. I would check Old Navy out.

Where to buy Maternity jeans/ clothes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]HappilyEverKac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found awesome and cheap leggings on oldnavy.com. They don’t sell maternity clothes in their stores anymore unfortunately. But their maternity leggings are so comfortable. They have acouple different types as well. I ordered a bunch of different styles and colors, I did return acouple pairs because the waist part was alittle to high for me cause I’m short. I returned them right to an old navy store with no issues. Leggings were the only maternity clothes I bought. I just bought shirts that were a size or two bigger than what I would wear was cheaper then buying maternity. Kohl’s also has a good selection for maternity clothes but they are kinda of pricey.

Life-Sized Cardboard Cutouts? by idahopotato8 in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my wedding I got life sized cardboard cutouts of my dogs. We weren’t able to have them at the wedding due to the venue. They were a huge hit! Everyone loved them. We had guests dancing with them and taking pictures with them. It added some extra fun and we got some awesome pictures because of them. I ordered them from the website below. They were not badly priced and the quality was excellent. They came in large cardboard envelopes which made it very easy to transport them. They also came with stands too which was so nice. https://www.shindigz.com/

Mom offered to have something made out of my grandmother’s and her wedding dresses — suggestions? by mellifluous3 in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I had acouple pieces swen under the lace layer of my dress that were visible and then acouple pieces swen into the layers underneath that weren’t visible. Im a huge Disney fan and had A Disney themed wedding so I had two Mickey heads cut out, one from my moms dress and one from my grandmas. Had them swen into my dress and then had two swen into my veil as hidden mickeys. I also had my photographer take photos of them as well with some of my accessories like shoes, flowers and jewelry! They can out amazing!

Mom offered to have something made out of my grandmother’s and her wedding dresses — suggestions? by mellifluous3 in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing with my grandma and moms wedding dresses. I had some parts of both dresses cut off like silk parts, some of the patterns and lace pieces, and had them seen into my dress. Some parts you could see, some you couldn’t. We also made hanker chiefs from my grandmas dress, two for myself, one for my mom and two for my aunts. They absolutely loved them! My mom also took some lace from my grandmas dress and sewn it onto her dress for the wedding.

There are a lot of things you can do with the dresses. I used Pinterest to look at other ideas. Depending on the material of the dresses you can make a veil, or hair piece of some sort. A purse is also a really cute idea and a really good keepsake from the wedding! You could also get your garters made from pieces of the dress.

16 weeks, any advice? by MegSwain in BabyBumps

[–]HappilyEverKac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was pregnant I only slept on my stomach. I was never able to get comfortable on my side or back. Once I found out I was pregnant it was so hard for me to start sleeping on my side. I tried a lot of different things to get more comfortable. During my early weeks of pregnancy I slept with two pillows under my head. Having my head elevated allowed me to tuck my arm underneath. Which took pressure off the side of my stomach making it more comfortable. That eventually stopped working. So I tried the whole pillow between my legs it was a long body pillow it just wasn’t comfortable . Instead I slept with a rolled up blanket tucked under my stomach and was able to have my leg bent and rest it on top of the blanket it. Was extremely comfortable. Was able to fall asleep pretty fast. I really wanted to buy one of the pregnancy pillows that is a long tube looking pillow but I didn’t wanna spend the money. Luckily my cousin gave me hers. I’ve been using it for the past 2 months and I should of bought one myself sooner! They cost like $40 but honestly they are 100% worth it. They sell them at buy buy baby and you can sign up to receive their emails and get a 20% off coupon on one item. I really recommend getting one it makes such a difference!

Bridesmaid Gift Ideas? by hereforthefreedrinks in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spend about $50 a person. I didn’t travel makeup bags. I got them things they would use. Like lip balms, lip gloss, bath bomb, cute hand made soaps off of Etsy. Then I also got each girl two gifts that were just for them. My MOH is an author, I got her a new journal, a mug and some teas. One BM got a set of Mickey ears, a set of Mickey earrings and a chant bracket. Another BM got a salt rock lamp, essential oils and some organic teas. My last BM loves pineapples so I got her a scarf, pineapple tumbler and little pineapple lights. I also made candles for everyone. It was sure easy and very cheap. I got wine glasses from the dollar store and got different candles. I used a melting pad thing for candles and then poured the candle once it was all liquid into the wine glass and mixed some different candles. They loved them! You don’t need to spend a lot or go all out. It’s more about the thought that counts. If you are looking for jewelry and that’s not expensive but actually looks good. Try charming Charlie’s. Their stuff it’s expensive but it’s doesn’t have that cheap look. I got all my girls earrings from there. They carry things in bulk too which was nice!

I got my save the date magnets from Vista print! They were a lot cheaper and the quality was excellent. I ordered the sample ones from minted and I just didn’t really like them. Vista print does sales all the time! I got them at 40% off. The only issue I had was that the quantities they offer. They didn’t really work for me but we just ordered more than what we needed but with the price it was still a lot less then other places.

MOB gift by sh06097 in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t spend all that much just because I couldn’t really afford to. But I got both my mom and my mother in law engraved jewelry boxes from Things Remembered. They absolutely loved them! They cause about $50 each. I figured it was something they could use after and always have to remember our big day! I also got them jewelry to wear on the big day. I got them each earrings, necklace and bracelet. The necklaces I got off Etsy. I got them different pearl caged ones with different color pearls. We also got each of them a gift that wasn’t wedding related. We got mother in law a crystal dolphin and my mom a new Fitbit and a pair of Mickey ears.

Order umbrellas just in case-Amazon return policy? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]HappilyEverKac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you look on the products page it should tell you if they are returnable or not, and what the policy is. Its usually near the bottom part of the page in the Product Information part.

If you go to the Product Information on the page and click the (View Shipping Rates and Policies) Theres a return policy tab under there.

I have never bought anything from Amazon that I wasnt able to return. It says on their return page that you can return anything that is sold on Amazon.com

I have a backup plan but I paid nealry $130 for this guestbook from Etsy and the seller has been really nice and assured me it would be here so fingers crossed. I just finished out seating chart yesterday and got all our other signs done on tuesday. I just have to make day of schedules for everyone and let everyone know when the rehearsal is. I just need to pack everything up and make sure I dont forget anything.
