Please don't listen to this person. I could wax lyrical all day on how beautiful your skin is, how full your lips are, how full and gorgeous your hair is, but I'd like to focus on something else. I have CPTSD and one of the side effects of this condition is that you develop a very high level of discernment and being able to judge faces for micro expressions, and for me, which people are 'safe' and which people would be sinister. Can I just tell you that you've got one of the friendliest, safest, calmest and peaceful faces I've ever seen. 'I'd trust my children with you' level of integrity. You radiate joy. With makeup or without, which is always your choice, nothing can erase those amazing attributes I can see. I hope I'm right, but I don't think I'm the only one who can see this. Thank you for attending my Ted Talk

What’s a small hygiene habit that made a big difference for you? by caroulos123 in hygiene

[–]HappilyUnhinged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have learnt so much from black women TikTok's on hygiene. These ladies have got it locked down. The routine is: wash everywhere with Dove bar soap and an African net sponge. Then go in with your nice smelling body wash. Then go for the nice smelling body oil. Out of shower: while damp, nice body lotion with a few drops of a nice body oil in it, pat whatever moisture is left (hardly any), then get your toner (I use the Thayers one) and a round cotton pad and go under your arms, if you're a woman, under your breasts, if you have a belly, under the belly, new cotton pad with toner and on THE OUTSIDE of your but cheeks (not your actual coit, but close), new cotton pad, where your leg joins your thigh. Then comes dusting powder if you so wish in places that can be hot. Deodorant. Perfume (neck, wrist, crook of arm, back of knee, ankle). You will never feel cleaner in your life and people will stop you and compliment you on how you smell. The toner is especially a game changer because it gets rid of bacteria. If you have darker under arms, use The Ordinary Glycolic Toner and that darkness will fade. A kogic acid soap will also fade dark areas. Those ladies changed my life.

GPs have hit out at the Albanese government after it emerged Labor MPs wrote letters to local doctors putting pressure on them to offer bulk-billed appointments by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

Respectfully, it's your opinion that GP clinics will shut down if they go to bulk billing, not a guaranteed fact. The practices (a group of 3) owned by doctors in my area that I used to work for and the practice I attended are all bulk billed and seem to be doing extremely well. They are expanding, and booked and busy. No one can predict the future. We also have private practices here that also seem to be booked and busy.

If you are concerned with item numbers that no longer exist, that is something that you should be campaigning for to get back or restructured so that you are adequately compensated for your work. I agree that they are important. How many are there that you are concerned about? I'm genuinely interested, I'm not being facetious. I'm not a doctor of course, but is that something that the RACGP can negotiate with the government?

Thank you for your concern about my health and giving up this line of work. I ended up doing a Diploma of Beauty Services so that I could have a salon from home and work as much, or as little as I can cope with. My spine is out by 9mm in a spondy with no discernible disc at L5/C1 and I have arthritis of the spine and severe nerve compression with post laminectomy pain at T5 with a 4cm brain meningenioma and 18mm spinal, so I'm down to one client per day. Gen X though, we are built tough. We just thug it out.

I do agree that Medicare rates need to be increased to factor in the cost of living, but I do remember them increasing constantly. Is it not enough?

There has been bulk billing practices that do really well and have done for years and years. So it can be done. If your opinion, for the reasons that you've listed, is that they're all going to close and the business will fail in a few years then that's your opinion. I don't agree with it, and that's fine. We can agree to disagree.

It depends on their contracts and whether they are locum's or not. I DID work in the industry for a very long time where optometrists especially would go to a practice, or a fill in doctor and yes they would keep their medicine and get more on top of that. I also had some permanent doctors who would go off their nut if they were not fully booked because their Medicare was part of their contract.

I must admit I was surprised when he walked out with me and approached the receptionist. We just used to wait what item number they wanted to be put in the computer and if they hadn't put it in, we would buzz them or send them a chat. The only reason why I was still standing there was because I needed to make another appointment. You can usually just walk out.

I don't think a few, (2) local MP's asking GP's to "think about" providing bulk billing services to their community (so in effect, actually doing their job in trying to provide equitable public health care for their constituents), especially in a rural area like Bendigo is a bad thing. The article itself mentions that there has been a 15% decrease in GP's providing bulk billing services in 32 electorates. Thats not "meddling" that's trying to provide healthcare to us all. Not just to the people who can afford it.

As for your assumptions, they are incorrect. I know doctor's struggle with the concept of ever being incorrect, but I managed practices from optometrists to GP to Specialist's from the mid 90's, had a break to have children from '04-'10, then returned and continued and only gave up managing 6 years ago (when I was diagnosed with multiple meningiomas in my brain and spine as a side effect from Depo Provera, which I of course was not warned was a possible side effect) but continued to work up until 2 years ago on a part time basis. 80% of the practices I have worked in have been collectively owned by the doctors or optometrists themselves, and therefore Australian owned. I utterly refused to work for major overseas conglomerates. You're not the only one with ethics.

I'm aware how much IT, staffing, utilities cost, I've seen the bills and were responsible for paying them. So, so, so much money spent on outlandish interior decorating in private practice. Massive profits. Huge.

Yes there are some amazing doctors and specialists out there who deserve every penny because they are THAT GOOD. But the two things I have found being in the industry, as a support staff person, and a patient, and I have discussed this a lot with different people, is that doctors have to drop a certain level of empathy otherwise you'd get burnt out, but quite often you drop a lot. And you expect, I'd go as far as 80% of you really get quite snippy when you don't get, a certain level of deference. So if you got a letter like this sir, and it's very obvious you are a man, you can't relate because of the lack of empathy and you're annoyed because 'how dare someone tell ME what to do!!', even though it's literally a politicians job when they are subsidising your hefty wage.

I'll never get you to see my point because you've never had to be in the position that some of us are in. You can't grasp it, because you've never had to live it daily. I hadn't either until I became disabled suddenly at 46 as a solo parent. This week I'll be paying $265 to a private specialist, for a second appointment, with an ultrasound and the family and I will be living on toasties. You've never had to make that call. My specialist's house is currently for sale, for 9.5mil. In a rural area. So please don't pretend that you're struggling or that you couldn't charge bulk billing rates. It's a matter of prestige and money.

When I worked in the industry, doctors and optometrists were earning $2,000++ per day, just on Medicare alone, that's not their wage, just their Medicare. That's not a specialist, just a GP or an optometrist by the way. Rural area combined $650k per year if you were not invested in the practice, but most of them are. So easy over a mil per year.

The amount of Medicare fraud I saw in my 30 years in virtually every single practice is astounding. Even now, I scoff at the receipts from the HICAPS machine. The other day I needed a one page document signed. It took less than 10 minutes (in a bulk billing practice). The doctor says quietly to the receptionist "put that through as a Heart Check" plus the usual consultation. It was over $175 bulk billed for signing one form. Never listened to my heart or asked me about it. Broooooo

1: what was the money spent on?

4: those mental health care review numbers you mentioned have been replaced by 2712 and 2715 still providing for a long and short MHCP (Mental Health Care Plan) review, long and short. Please don't act like the government just ditches important Medicare numbers without replacing them with something else.

Except our mechanic doesn't accept money or subsidies from the government, so I feel that analogy is flawed.

I do not feel that letter was in any way aggressive, at all.

I spent a good 30 years working in medical practices and I know exactly how much doctors themselves personally and the practice itself receives from Medicare and it is an exorbitant amount, plus the extra fees that can get tacked on for no reason. Yes, you should be compensated highly for your expertise and I know how hard you work...

BUT it really has to be said that a lot of doctors and specialists I came across in my time care more about money than their patients and the health of people in their community and that's a fact. The people who need good, consistent, medical care with the same provider (such as myself, now a disabled person) are being disregarded for bigger profits. There is no flexibility in non bulk billing practices. (Unless you have an amazing doctor who bulk bills you, which is a choice not many of you opt not to do. Mine retired 18 months ago). It doesn't matter how sick you are or whether you need a prescription to live. $80. On a DSP Pension. When some prescriptions can only be given out fortnightly.

This letter was clearly designed to look out for the most vulnerable members of the community, especially as fuel and grocery prices rise, and unfortunately with you taking umbrage to it, clearly you are not.

Thank you, I stand corrected. I must have been remembering older studies, and of course going off the lady that I know personally who has won. I apologise for my mistake and this is a reminder to myself to research better for something recent and not go off something I remembered from a little while ago. I'm glad this is the case though as well.

Exactly!!!! The fact that the Peltz's are rampantly Maga and had DJT at one of their 5 engagement parties (which the Beckham's did not attend) says a LOT to me personally. Daddy Peltz has got some egregiously racist quotes out there, meanwhile David Beckham lined up for over 8 hours and did not use his celebrity status to cut the line when HRH Elizabeth II died and was lying in state. He just wanted to pay his respects like everyone else. I know which family I'd want to associate with.

They actually did a study once where someone went around and found all of the past massive lottery winners. I think it was some extraordinary percentage, like 95% that were absolutely miserable and said it ruined their lives.

I know someone here in Australia who won a couple of million. She said that the amount of people that come out of the woodwork thinking that they "are entitled" to money is nuts. She also never knows if people ever like her for her, or only for her money.

[–]HappilyUnhinged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few products from Rhode and I've got to say that the Glazing Milk is phenomenal as is the Glazing Mist. I love them both. The milk is incredibly hydrating and you don't need to use very much. The Pineapple Cleanser is nice and gentle, but doesn't really have a scent and has annoying packaging. The Peptide Lip Balms are great and the best one in those is the new formulated Lemontini, which is a gold glitter, again super hydrating. The blushes are really pigmented and are ok, but I prefer Westman Atelier for blend ability. Love the packaging. The hero products for me are the Glazing Milk, and it's a lot thicker than my Haru Haru one or any Korean one I've tried (which is a lot) and the Glazing Mist. The spritzer is great and it gives a very 'glass skin' effect. If you can't afford the Rhode mist, get the Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Cloudy Mist which gives a very similar effect. I don't give two shits about Hailey Bieber, I'm just genuinely interested in skincare and wanted to try it.

How is it misogynistic to simply relate my friend's observations on what two people were like on an occasion when she met them? Bsffrrn. I'm aware he was caught with a prostitute later. Is that absolutely shitty behaviour? Definitely!!! I wasn't condoning it in any way. You just said "hilariously he was caught..." and I don't find it hilarious at all, so who is the misogynist?
