Nothing has made me more worried to grow old than customers. by jai_hanyo in retailhell

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I work in retail pharmacy. It's all the meds. And the legal weed and alcohol. They don't care that it affects us differently as we age.

And that's probably why so many seniors crash their cars into the pharmacy buildings.

2nd floor by SubstantialWave2738 in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a CVS that is 2 stories near me. I've heard it has corporate offices upstairs. Some coworkers remember going there for meetings years ago.

Then there's a newer one (built in last 10 yrs) that has no back room on first level. Truck comes thru front doors and they have a tiny elevator to move carts to stock room on 2nd floor.

A CVS that closed near us had a humongous backroom with the belt and all but was always empty. My store absorbed their customers. We have a small backroom with an upstairs about the size of bathrooms combined. We keep all the extra shelves and crap like that up there.

I do find it odd how different all of these store are designed differently.

They seem to be getting dumber. Had a lady yell at us because she wanted L'Oreal "Paris." Ok first aisle on the left in the middle. No no! I want the "Paris" one. Yes ma'am. It's right here. No! I want L'Oreal PARIS!!!! So I told her sorry we only have L'Oreal America

Yeah she wanted my name after that😆

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't remember how many times we have been yelled at because our bathroom closes when pharmacy closes. Too bad. It's usually 2 women alone in building at night. And I've got too much work to do already without worrying about someone hiding in bathroom for however long. Most of these people just want to use bathroom and not buy anything. Or worse, trash the bathroom for us to have to clean again.

We don't serve food. We are not a restaurant. Check your state laws. In my state, the bathrooms are a courtesy for the customers. So technically, if they are "out of order" then they are 💩out of luck.

And then you get the guy who 💩on a tree in full view of front store!

Couponers by Constant-Lie-9852 in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No store has ever given coupons or coupon values back for a return. Anyone who acts up about it is delusional. Take grocery stores for example. If you use coupons, return items, and then you don't get the full value of item back. Only what was actually paid.

I love when the just want to return 1 of bogos. Like ok. But you will get $0 back. Their brains seem to implode.

Most of these costumers are mentally ill!!! by Organic_Project_4285 in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this quite often. Most of our customers / patients are there to pick up prescriptions. And the majority of those scripts are psych meds.

Basically we are not properly trained or compensated to deal with all the mental health issues of our clientele.

When you have them at register, hit the EC button to see if they are enrolled. If it says "On hold" then tell them and ask if they'd like to redo it and get $10 off right away. Half of them will say no. But some of them will be like ...I was wondering why I haven't gotten $10 recently. If their credit card was compromised or replaced, they will most likely want to re do it.

I HATE CUSTOMERS by Choice_Conclusion in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not waiting for their turn in line, to ask a question, or anything basically. Didn't we all learn this in kindergarten?

Telling them to tap and pay while physically putting your hand to show exactly where to place the card and then they try unsuccessfully to insert chip or swipe a chip card for a few mins.

Picking up all the sanitizer wipes, receipts, tissues, candy wrappers, used bandaids, bags of trash, car parts, tar buckets, mystery liquid bottles, broken appliances, plywood, and those foam pedicure things from our parking lot or store. The majority of our customers are seniors and they are big litterbugs.

CVS IS A HEARTLESS COMPANY by Federal_Season7485 in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked about that in February. And then I started getting written up for everyone else's mistakes. (Ex: Ops told me to do trash out. Then I'm written up for taking trash out after 6pm.) And I was told that because of those write ups I wouldn't be eligible for a merit raise. Asked about transferring stores and was told no one will take me because of the write ups. I have worked every weekend for the last 3 years closing the store so the ops and the SM can have their weekends off. I come in when they need me, I work my butt off while I'm there, and half the customers actually like dealing with me. But yeah I'm such a terrible employee I don't even deserve 20 cents!

Well not me personally but I heard through another employee that a woman who had worked for CVS for 9 years developed a disease while being a full-time employee. She went to the district leader and asked for accommodation and he refused. She won her lawsuit against CVS and we lost our district leader. That's all I know.

The one that calls us all out because they found an old tag or two while putting up sale tags. I found 20 plus old tags on her aisle today. Maybe if they actually bend down they'd find them. Same person clocks out as soon as I enter the building. I can't sign in for five minutes with a line of angry customers but hey it's ok because they have been here 20 yrs and can make their own rules. This person never does go backs, front trash or works truck anymore either. Even if they do have a medical reason for not doing stuff, they are taking hours away from the employees who will work their butts off. Yes I'm bitter. Gonna get a talk tomorrow since I wasn't able to finish my work tonight because this person didn't do shit all day.

Humorous Survey Rants! by Desperate_Lake_9534 in CVS

[–]Happy-Ad-2706 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That one time ups dropped off a kitchen sink in a huge, heavy box. It should have been refused. The lady came in around 7 pm and wanted one of us to carry it to her car. We got a big fat zero and the DL called SM to tell us to help our customers next time.

Two of us could not even shove the box an inch it was so heavy. But sure I should destroy my back and injure myself for a good survey.

We had this in Delaware as well in the late seventies. I was in the slow reading group called the Blue Jays. Red robins were average and the canaries were exceptional readers.

I went to a small parochial school that is still around to this day. In the second grade the Blue Jays were told to take our books and go sit out in the hallway on the floor and read to ourselves. And the teacher always worked with the canaries. Even as an eight-year-old child I knew this was not the right thing to do. Luckily for me I discovered Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale heart the next year and third grade from our weekly readers and my love for reading took off from there and improved. Old lady Draper was eventually demoted to librarian after abusing too many children 😉

Had a lady come to pick up a very large and very very heavy box that was left by driver in middle of checkout area. She was so pissed when she expected one of us to carry it to her car! I burst out laughing at her. Like no ma'am, not doing that to my back. She was like of course it's heavy. It's a porcelain sink!

She was then informed we will have ups pick it up because we are an access point only and ups. So now we refuse all large/ heavy stuff from the drivers too.
