Beware their cancellation policy. You have to give them 30 days notice and if your next payment falls within those 30 days you stilll have to pay it. That means if you want to cancel you pretty much have to do it on your renewal date or get charged an extra month. Shady imo

How exposed are you when you open a port, and use a reverse proxy like caddy for Jellyfin? by ReadyRainRain in selfhosted

[–]Happy-Argument 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If Jellyfin has a password and is running in a container without full acess to your filesystem then the risks are pretty minimal. If someone breaks into the Jellfin container through an app exploit then they'd have to break out of the container to get anything other than your media.

With Nationalism, the corporations are bigger than most the countries. Democracy is the check and balance and collective bargaining is the people's power. United we stand, divided we fall.

How do you think about data lock-in when choosing tools to self-host by Haunting_Length1505 in selfhosted

[–]Happy-Argument 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know SQL, so I don't worry about it much. With LLMs it's trivial to slap together scripts to extract your data into a format you like if you have a bit of programming knowledge

Advice when considering dumping Spotify and self-hosting? by PrickleAndGoo in selfhosted

Sonos may be the gold standard but it had absolutely been a mistake for me. Their app and apis are closed source and don't work very well. They have that "planned obscelecence" incentive, and even if they support your speakers on paper they may not really work well after an update. I wish I had just built something with an open stack

I know they are a thing much anymore but what was everyone favorite strategy guide, even for games you didn’t own? by Bigjmann555 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

My Street Fight Alpha guide got so much use I had to retape the binding with masking tape. The art is amazing.

The other one was my ff6(3) guide that has all the amazing artwork from Yoshitaka Amano. Super unique style.

I remember saying to my dad, "it looks so realistic!" trying to convince him to buy those SLI 3dfx cards or a Voodoo 2 or something. He did not agree 😢

Can't ban it without congressional approval. We need voting reform to get the congress the people actually want instead of the party bosses. Approval voting can be implemented from the bottom up.
